LET'S. GET. GARDENIIIING.
Who: Everyone!
What: Gardening!
When: Sunday 14th August, all day
Where: Outside the Welcome Centre
Summary: Finally, the time has come to get Luceti's memory garden on the road.
Rating: ...I sincerely hope this won't go above a PG rating.
Early on Sunday morning, Link can be found outside the Welcome Centre - gathering seedlings and seed packets, setting aside a willow sapling, laying out gardening tools. When it's still fairly early by the standards of most people, especially for a Sunday morning in summer, the following message will go out over the journals:
"Hi, everyone! D'you remember the garden I talked about earlier? Well, all the beds have been dug and I've got lots of plants, so come over to the Welcome Centre today and plant something for your friends that have gone home!"
If anyone heads on over, they'll find Link sitting back and relaxing, keeping an eye on the piles of gardening implements, small pots of seedlings and packets of seeds and a collection of bulbs, and a large sheet of paper and bundle of pencils. Across the top of the paper, the words, 'Leave a message for friends!' is written, and Link has already written the first message - 'Hi Vivi, I hope you like the gardens! Love Link'.
There will be snack runs over the course of the day. And if he can convince certain people, live music. Remembering friends, being outside on a sunny day (refreshing after yesterday's storm!), nice food, and music - what could be better?
((OOC: Forward-dated to Sunday. Open to everyone, mingle away! If anyone has questions or needs help or wants to know WTF is going on, Link will be on hand for the whole day to keep an eye on things.))

It's as disgusting as it sounds.

"Parasites that... made him aggressive... Perhaps they were m-modifying hormonal levels, or... the h-heightened pain sensitivity was causing aggression, or s-something of the sort..."
He muses thoughtfully to himself a moment before asking, "How did Princess Ruto survive in a... d-digestive tract?
... Or you, for that matter...?"
He was under the impression Link was a hominid, albeit a hominid with exceedingly long ears. Most hominids can't survive in a digestive system very long.
no subject
You, uh, might have to go slowly with this one, Robert.
no subject
"A digestive tract is... the portion of an o-organism's system that is dedicated to the p-processing of food...
... A-Assuming Lord Jabu Jabu's anatomy is s-similar to that of fish I am familiar, with, I... would assume it would be dangerous in there for a-an unprotected body."
All those stomach acids...
no subject
...Yeah.
no subject
What.
"... Your world's fauna is... fascinating, to, er, s-say the least."
And a little... odd.
no subject
"It's pretty interesting, huh?" he grins, "Even if it's a bit gross sometimes."
no subject
"But I have... a-always enjoyed it." Even if he cleans himself obsessively afterwards.
no subject
"Is that what you do where you're from?" he asks curiously.
no subject
... though, in p-practise, I have investigated many f-forms of life here that also exist on Terra, or existed in its past." Robert smiles a little. "But it is a field I... g-greatly enjoy..."
His gaze travels down to the ground. "... I rather always did... even as a y-young child."
no subject
"How do you investigate things?" he asks curiously, "Do you just look to see what's there and work out what it looks like and what it does?"
no subject
However, when studying a fellow sapient, one can... s-speak to, or otherwise communicate with, zir in order to... facilitate m-mutual understanding. That is the only fair way to r-research a sapient - on zir own terms, with proper protocol in place."
In other words, nothing like what the Malnosso do.
no subject
...Hmm. "Does that mean that what the Malnosso do is bad because they don't ask?"
no subject
"... There are sapient trees in your world...?"
It's not impossible. Perhaps a collective intelligence, via massive single-tree forests? There are photosynthetic animals on some planets too, and some sessile organisms that behave more like plants on Terra, and all sort of things running the gamut of "animal" and "plant". But it's certainly interesting.
"... And... yes, that is a reason I... f-find the Malnosso's work incredibly disgusting... Not the only one, but l-lack of consent is a humongous violation of rights..."
no subject
"Uh huh! The Great Deku Tree is the guardian of the forest. He's the one who told me to leave the forest for the first time." He looks a little pensive. "He died, though. But the Deku Sprout grows there now, and he remembered things that the Great Deku Tree remembered, so I guess he was sort of reborn."
He pulls a face. "The Malnosso aren't nice. What does 'consent' mean?"
no subject
But to answer the question: "Consent is... permission, to do something, that someone g-gives willingly... that is, n-not under duress or force."
And it's exactly the opposite of what the Malnosso do for pretty much everything...
no subject
no subject
It's important enough to him that he's willing to put himself on the line for it. Though Don probably wouldn't be too happy to hear that...
no subject
The horror. The horror.
no subject
... But mostly I... would like to see how much we can... co-operate with the Malnosso rather than struggle against them..."
If you can't beat 'em, why not attempt to join 'em? Or at least try to convince them to join you?
no subject
no subject
... I would hope that the M-Malnosso scientists involved in the project would be more... sympathetic towards us."
Though Robert knows that it might be a long shot...

no subject
He'd be making a note of what happened anyway. It would be helpful for everybody involved, and he hopes maybe something positive will come of it.
no subject
Who knows what the Malnosso are capable of?
