Where: Outside the Welcome Centre
Summary: Finally, the time has come to get Luceti's memory garden on the road.

Early on Sunday morning, Link can be found outside the Welcome Centre - gathering seedlings and seed packets, setting aside a willow sapling, laying out gardening tools. When it's still fairly early by the standards of most people, especially for a Sunday morning in summer, the following message will go out over the journals:

"Hi, everyone! D'you remember the garden I talked about earlier? Well, all the beds have been dug and I've got lots of plants, so come over to the Welcome Centre today and plant something for your friends that have gone home!"

If anyone heads on over, they'll find Link sitting back and relaxing, keeping an eye on the piles of gardening implements, small pots of seedlings and packets of seeds and a collection of bulbs, and a large sheet of paper and bundle of pencils. Across the top of the paper, the words, 'Leave a message for friends!' is written, and Link has already written the first message - 'Hi Vivi, I hope you like the gardens! Love Link'.

There will be snack runs over the course of the day. And if he can convince certain people, live music. Remembering friends, being outside on a sunny day (refreshing after yesterday's storm!), nice food, and music - what could be better?

And her reaction really surprises him. "It really is of no matter to you...?"

"No. Not in the slightest. I understand how a person might come to act in such a way upon a person disappearing and I merely believe I will never reach such a point~" She nods with a quaint smile.

"I see..." Well, not really. "That sounds rather sad..."

"Does it really? I don't think so~" After all, there's nothing to be sad about if she never becomes attached to a person to feel such a way.

"Mn. I do... Don't you feel lonely?"

"Not at all. The odd company I may receive now and then merely serves as a diversion from my time alone." Well that may not be entirely true, but always telling the truth wouldn't be like her. "Admittedly I have experienced cases wherein the beings I have been in the company of have been adequately entertaining to be worthy of my time, though despite this I have never experienced 'loneliness'."

"I see..." Well, there was nothing wrong in preferring solitude. "What where they like?"

"One overzealous human who thought he could best a youkai~ He was certainly interesting for a time. There is also one human who claimed to be a shapeshifter, though I find him entertaining in another sense. Of course there are others~" She fires a glance at Labrador. Non-human gardeners are fairly interesting in her books.

"What happened to this overzealous human then? And the other person only claimed to be one? You mean he wasn't really one?" He tips his head a bit in question, wondering about the glance.

"I best him in battle, of course. I set the human in his rightful place below a youkai~ And yes, the other was merely pretending to be a non-human. Such a ridiculous farce." She eyes the head tip and smirks.

His eyes widen a bit in slight horror. "... you... killed them?"

"If only~ Admittedly the first human warrants some interest. After all, someone as foolish as him will have his uses, such as providing me entertainment~" Her eyes narrow as she considers the second one. "The other human however? Eventually I shall catch up to him and show him what it means to lie to a youkai~"

"You let the first one go then? While... the second one managed to escape?

"My, you make it sound as though I go out of my way to trap humans or something to that effect~!" Bringing her hand to her mouth to cover it, she laughs at this. "I suppose if you want to phrase it like that, then yes, I 'let the first one go'. The other didn't 'escape', the situation was nothing like that~ However it is a long-winded and boring tale to discuss."

He immediately flushes with embarrassment. "Ah! No, I didn't mean to... to imply that! I was just concerned about the well-being of these humans who seemed to have crossed you. Oh... I see." And he's not going to press that.

She waves the flustered response off. "Do not be concerned about humans of all things~ Why would one care about the well-being of humans in the first place~?"

"Well, it is my duty to protect them so.."

"A poor duty to be landed with, I am sure. Tell me, do you receive some sort of satisfaction from protecting humans, or is it merely a part of your work~?"

"Oh, no, not at all. I find a great honour to be bestowed with such a duty and will do my utmost to protect them. I wish for everyone to be safe and happy and will do anything in my power to achieve that."

"Ahaha, I don't think I will ever be able to understand how a person is able to derive honour from protecting humans~ Though to each their own fancies~"

"I was human once so it's only natural for me, I suppose."

...There's a considerable pause at that, followed by a low laugh from the youkai. "Oho, I see. You were once one of them~" That's disappointing. "Well now, I suppose it is natural for someone who was once human to protect the rest of the riffraff~"

He nods. "I was... then I was chosen and given a second life. They aren't riffraff, there are lots of very special people among them that I want to watch over. And anyway, I was given this second chance to protect them. That is the duty given to me."

"Well I suppose if you're on your second attempt at this game called 'life', you might as well play your part as you're told so not to squander it~" Sadly, she isn't too bothered about Labrador's life story and so begins twirling her parasol whilst speaking. "--Though when you return to referring to 'special people', that merely falls back into acting out of memory of someone, correct? Ah, dear me~"

He nods. "Well, half and half. I do want to protect those I've known before, but there are also people that I've met after being reborn that are special to me to."
