Summary: What's a summer without going on a trip to the beach at least once?
Rating: PG13+? Depends, really.

[When one enters the beach, if they're the type of people to make beelines for food as soon as they step into a party, they'll notice that there are a few tables set up with a bunch of snacks laid about, along with a giant cooler residing at the end of the table. There's a barbecue going on too, though it'll be self-serve if you're hungry.]

[Otherwise, there's a bunch of sporting equipment laying about. A Frisbee, a few volleyball nets... Whatever you'd like to be there! Don't forget, there's always swimming in the ocean, too.]

[Beaches are awful. There's sand in her shoes and it's much too hot for her liking. Flowers can wilt in the heat you know... This is what she gets for wandering around and letting the curiosity of this beach thing get the best of her. She should just go back to her garden. All these humans having fun is also... Sickening, perhaps? It doesn't sit well with her, whatever this feeling is.

At any rate, Yuuka will be standing far, far, far off to the side, just people watching from beneath the nice shade of her parasol. Later she'll leave quite abruptly to return to her garden.]

A sand castle! I've been looking for someone to build one with me.

[Sand castle? Sounds boring, but she'll entertain the idea all the same.]

I see. Go ahead and start and I'll follow along once you've already got this sand castle started. [Never made a sand castle before. She'll just copy whats being done when she gets the idea. On the other hand if this just turns out to be some boring human activity, she might just leave.]

[Awkwardly taking the bucket in the hand that isn't holding her parasol, she follows Minako to whatever nice patch of sand she found.]

Gensokyo never had a beach, so it would be correct to assume I have never built a sand castle. [She tries to match what Minako is doing by scooping sand up and dumping it into the bucket, all with one hand. She intends to keep the parasol open and in her hand for this.] Tell me human, what exactly is the point in this? [This isn't gardening, so how can it possibly be fun?]

Gensokyo? Aaah, I see. I'm glad you took the time to come today, the beach is one of the best places to go during the summer.



People often make sculptures out of sand on the beach for fun, or out of competition. Castles are one of the most simple things to make, since -- -- it consists of mostly towers that can easily be made with a pail.

I used to make these a lot with my brother as a kid, though... I can see how it can be boring.

Is it really now? [Really? Maybe she would enjoy it more if she had decided to dress for the occasion, but right now getting sand all over herself and her clothing doesn't seem that great.]

Simple, well then. If someone such as you can do it... [Looks easy enough. The bucket is filled with sand, and with a quick flick of her hand it's now upside down. Pulling the bucket away however reveals a crumbled mess of sand beneath it.] How incredibly annoying. What in the world did I do wrong, it looks so simple, and you even said so yourself. [She should have patted the sand down more...]

No no, it isn't boring at all~ [It is incredibly boring.] I'm sure it just takes a certain brand of people to enjoy such things. [Like boring people, clearly.]

Well, I might just be a little bias since the beach is my absolute favourite place to go to, but... It's fine if you don't feel that way. I'm just glad that you gave it a chance before ultimately deciding on anything.



You need to make sure the sand sticks together by compressing it with your hand; don't worry too much! That used to happen to me a lot too. That makes me a simple-minded person, doesn't it? Sorry for dragging you into this.

I find my garden is far superior to this boiling pile of sand, but perhaps I am biased as well then~ [Except not, because in her mind garden > beach forever. Or at least she'll believe she's not biased and that her garden being better than the beach is fact, not bias.]

[Wait. Was that a giggle? Shooting you a quick glare Minako before quickly retrying. She makes a show of beating the sand down with her palm this time before turning the bucket over again. The tower comes out a little lopsided when the pail is removed, but at least it didn't collapse like the last one.]

Is this sufficient for a sandcastle? [Because when she heard sandcastle, Yuuka was expecting something a little better than towers of sand.]

One tower isn't enough to make a sandcastle, but it's a good start! It takes a couple of them before it starts to look like a real one, but you're getting a hang of it!

[Ugh... This human is being disgustingly nice to her out of seemingly nowhere, and now wants to come visit her garden.] I do not tend to have visitors. Especially not humans.

[Yup, it's finally got to her. This sandcastle making seems silly, and to top it off there's a human girl giving her thumbs up and giggling and it's too hot! ...

But no, Yuuka isn't one to 'lose her cool'. She's going to bide her time and wait to see if there's any fun of her brand to be had before leaving.]

[As someone who also doesn't care for beaches, and also isn't really into that "having fun" business that everyone else is, Yuuka stands out as more than just someone who might not know people here or something. She might be interesting to talk to, so Caesar approaches her.

[Oh great, someone's bothering her. This heat really is doing nothing for her mood, but with a short sigh she's back to smiling and speaking as politely as she can.]

Mm, yes I am, this is the most ideal way for me to spend my time after all. [Sarcasm is an amazing thing.] You look like you're having even more fun than me human~ Just look at you, bounding with energy. [That yawn didn't go unnoticed.]

I imagine that with such pleasant weather as this that taking some time aside for sleeping would be quite opportune. Might as well enjoy the calidity as it lasts in some way, shape or form. [Even from under her parasol she feels warm. Clearly shade isn't enough. Just as well she doesn't have any intentions to enjoy the heat right now.]

I have never visited a beach before, though I must agree. I don't understand the attraction is to running around, only to get hot and bothered. Sand finds it's way into clothing, some unfortunate humans get sun-burnt, [Wait, that might be an upside.] it's all very silly to me~

It's still a little warmer than I'd like. [Not that this would stop him from taking a nap if he wanted to, but you know. Details.] I can't wait for summer to be over. I couldn't agree with you more, though. I don't really get the appeal, but I suppose they'll find any reason to celebrate.

I'm sure my flowers would agree, the heat is nice providing it doesn't sear the petals from their heads. [That's quite the worrying thought, perhaps she should head back soon to make sure nothing has wilted.] Humans have their own reasons for celebrating their own mundane things. Simple minds fit simple affairs~

I don't think you'll have to worry about that too much. It usually doesn't get that hot here. But better safe than sorry, I guess. [Another shrug. He didn't know that much about flowers anyway.] I don't really get it, but if they want to celebrate, that's fine.

Whilst the heat might not seem overwhelming to you, to a flower a heatwave could well spell death. Blooms lack the aegis of skin which many beings seem to possess you see. [There's a sigh from her, either due to the heat or the conversation.]

It would be cruel to suffocate a bloom inside. Only when you garden outside can a flower's true potential be touched upon. [Seeing as you're so human Caesar, she'll make a lovely death related comment just for you.] Death can be quiet and relaxing once it arrives, wouldn't you agree? It could be compared to an eternal slumber. Though perhaps that is too relaxing for you~?
