Summary: What's a summer without going on a trip to the beach at least once?
Rating: PG13+? Depends, really.

[When one enters the beach, if they're the type of people to make beelines for food as soon as they step into a party, they'll notice that there are a few tables set up with a bunch of snacks laid about, along with a giant cooler residing at the end of the table. There's a barbecue going on too, though it'll be self-serve if you're hungry.]

[Otherwise, there's a bunch of sporting equipment laying about. A Frisbee, a few volleyball nets... Whatever you'd like to be there! Don't forget, there's always swimming in the ocean, too.]

Of course I did, I'm not some simpleton who needs to be told twice. It seems a little more basic than I was hoping, though I shall make do.

[Stepping to one side of the court, she props her parasol up in the sand. There were no parasols in the demonstration after all... Then again, there was no danmaku either, but she already has some plans for that.

Anyway, stepping back onto the court now. Arms folded, generally not in any ready position to play volleyball.]

The game starts with a serve, correct? I shall allow you to set things in motion for us Rise~

...right.

[Well, that's fine, even if she wants to do it that way. Even if she doesn't know what Yuuka might be planning to do, Rise'll assume the worst and keep a lookout for any errant plants that may be sneaking around the volleyball court as she adopts the correct posture and-- serves!

This is all supposed to be in good sport and fun, right? Riiiight? Nah.]

[Define 'fun'~

As soon as the ball crosses to her side of the net, Yuuka flies up to it and smacks it as hard as she can. Had she been aiming into an open space, the ball would have certainly landed in the sand. However, it seems she's returning the ball right at Rise instead.

Sure it would be fun to win on points, but wouldn't winning via forcing your opponent to forfeit be even better?]

[analyzing]

[The ball comes barreling at her faster than expected, and Rise has to step back to receive it. She winces as it makes contact (that part of her arm? Was definitely going to be really red later, she could already tell) but she'll send it back into the air and spike it towards Yuuka's own court.]

[Swooping in quickly to deflect the ball back into the air. She isn't normally this agile on the ground. It's almost as though she might be flying... Or at least hovering at any rate.

This time on the return she sends the ball hurtling towards Rise again- But then she also fires a medium-sized spherical bullet off into open space on Rise's court. It's about the same size and shape as the volleyball, but it would hurt a lot more than a volleyball if it hit anyone.]

[analyzing]

[The sun is a treacherous thing at this time of the day and it catches her eye as soon as Yuuka does her hit-fire combo. She'll raise one hand to shield her eyes as she jumps at the general direction of where the ball should be heading towards...]

[analyzing]

[...and manages to hit the actual volleyball as the bullet hits the ground beside her. It's not a quiet landing.]

—huh?

[Unfortunately, with her attention diverted, her fingertips only manage to graze the top of the ball— enough to send it over the net, but very open to having it hit back at her.]

['Having it hit back at her' is right. It was a shame Rise didn't go for the other 'ball', but for it to serve as a distraction as Yuuka sends the real thing hurtling towards her works equally well.

Hopefully the sound of Yuuka quite literally punching the ball towards Rise's head will get a hold of her attention.]

[It gets her attention, all right. By hitting her right at the side of her face. And the ball will then just drop quite harmlessly onto the sand with not as much as a thud.

...that's gonna bruise.]

Ah, splendid. Seeing as the ball has hit the ground on your side of the net, that means I get a point, correct~?

[Oh, did she hit Rise in the face? She did? Well she's acting as though purposely aiming the ball at another players is a completely sportsmanlike thing to do.]

Come now, let's continue~

Just one thing.

[One hand nursing the blooming red spot on her cheek, Rise frowns. She'd like to believe that that was a mistake on someone's end (she did almost miss), but after the whole flower thing? She's not sure about that. It's one thing to give the benefit of the doubt, but...

...maybe even agreeing to play against her had been a bad idea.]

We're not playing to knock out the other players, so there shouldn't be any injuries. At all.

But of course, the aim is to obtain points. Is it possible you could be insinuating something by bringing up such a thing now? [And that is a perfectly feigned expression of shock.]

At any rate, let us proceed. The ball is in your court, so to speak.

[Nnrgh, fine. Just one more time-- then Yuuka can go play with someone else. And quite possibly knock them out.

She picks up the ball, tosses it in the air and...there goes that serve! It's moderate human-strength, of course.]

[And here comes the not-so-violent return. There's some decent strength behind it, and what's more it seems the ball is heading toward the open space of the other court rather than someone's arm or face.

Which of course means there's something wrong here. It was a perfectly normal return. The youkai shows no change in expression past that smile either.]

[It's a ball that she manages to receive and spike back easily but her posture is still tense. It's almost like she's expecting something.]

[As she moves to return the ball, Yuuka can't help but stumble a little before sending the ball up into the air. Regaining her stance, she jumps up to spike the ball down into the other court.

That smile? A little wider now, perhaps with a hint of determination thrown in there. Still no signs of anything suspicious either.]

[analyzing]

[Rise darts to the front of the court to block that ball from hitting her side but it's hard to watch both Yuuka and the ball when she's this close, so her attention may be just a little diverted at the moment...]

[Yuuka spots this as the perfect moment to score another point. With Rise close to the net, all she need do is land the ball further back in the court, away from where Rise will easily be able to retrieve it.

And so she does just that, smacking the ball into the far side of the court. Has she won a point without seemingly using any tricks to gain the upper hand...?]

[analyzing]

[Rise watches, wide-mouthed, as the ball sails over her before she goes for the dive, but it's far too delayed a reaction. The sand feels hot under her skin as she only manages to receive it at an angle.














...and it bounces off the trunk of a tree. There may still be a chance...!]
