What: Battle dome date (sort of)!
When: October 7th, late evening.
Where: The battle dome
Summary: It’s Friday night. What better way to spend it than to go through a bunch of combat simulations?
Rating: Probably no more than PG.
[They had discussed doing this shortly after Kurt came back – a little get-together at the battle dome. It works for Melanie since she needs the practice, and it works as another chance to spend more time with her... what, boyfriend? She’s still not entirely sure what word she should use to describe her relationship with him, but whatever it is, she likes it.
Either way, there wasn’t much of a chance to do this earlier. It would have been way too confusing, what with that bizarre fairytale experiment, but that’s all over and done with and now is as good a time as any. So, Melanie’s outside the dome, wearing her suit and waiting to see where Kurt decides to pop up.]

You ready?
no subject
Have you fought people with special powers before?

You know, next time I should go for laser swords.
no subject
She grins at Kurt once he picks up his own weapons, though.]
I didn't know you were a sword fighter. [She mostly just thought he stuck to using the whole BAMF thing. Not that there's anything wrong with using swords, of course. Swords are classy.]
no subject
I've been picking it up in Luceti. A little extra edge helps around here. ... no pun intended.
no subject
Very schway. [Grin.]
I can't say I've ever had much experience with swords. [Her father taught her the basics when she was young, but beyond that... well, she stuck with technology and hand to hand. Swordplay was mostly Jack and King's thing.]
no subject
[But for someone who won't use a gun and can teleport... swords do have a special advantage there.]
no subject
Classier than just using a gun, anyway.
no subject
[Cowboys can make guns pretty damn classy you know.]
no subject
So, about how long does it usually take for the enemies to start showing up in here?
[... One unfortunate fact about Melanie is that she can get distracted easily, which is probably why she hasn't yet noticed the trail black ooze coming up behind her.]
no subject
[That's when Lance kicks in, stepping out in front of them. The ground starts to crumble and shake, knocking Kurt off his feet.]
Nevermind! They're here!
no subject
Slag it! [She moves to get up, but is immediately pulled back down thanks to a part of Inque wrapping around her ankle, quickly pulling her back down. It takes a few moments of struggling to reach Queen’s club, but once she grabs onto it again, Melanie quickly aims a blast of energy at Inque.
Even if she isn't terribly fond of her mother, she has to give her credit for knowing which weapons can pack a good amount of force. Sure, the blast isn’t enough to keep Inque down for long, but it still works as a chance for Melanie to get back up.]
no subject
Man. I forgot how annoying these guys can be.
[Just as Blob charges, he teleports away, appearing behind him, to kick him in the back and cause him to stumble into Avalanche and Toad.]
no subject
Blob is stumbling a bit too close for comfort, and she quickly moves out of the way so it's only Toad and Avalanche that (hopefully) get hit.]
You fought them a lot back home? [She says this rather absently - she got distracted before, and Melanie doesn't want that to happen again. As it is, she's already lost track of Inque - definitely not a good thing when she can easily hide in the shadows or even blend in with the black on Melanie's clothing, if she wanted to.
She's about to say something else, but then Toad's tongue goes around her wrist and yanks her forward. Melanie doesn't immediately think to aim a blast at him, but instead slams that club against the side of his skull. It's not as powerful as an energy blast, but it gets him to let go, at least.]
no subject
[Kurt jumps on top of Blob.]
This is Blob. He's practically indestructible and packs a punch like a truck, but he's slow and dumb.
[Then to Lance, who he teleports behind for a leg sweep.]
Avalanche can cause a massive earthquake. He's really dangerous, but not so hard to take down.
[Toad fires a glob of saliva from his mouth that Kurt barely sidesteps.]
Toad is as agile as me, but a hundred times more disgusting. Watch out for his tongue. [When Toad fires out his tongue, Kurt manages to grab it and pull Toad forward to the ground. If he was real, that would really hurt.]
And finally Pietro, he's-
[So fast that he's already punched Kurt and sent him flying past Kurt before he has a chance to explain.]
no subject
He's fast. Got it. [Too fast for her to hit him with anything, unfortunately. She'd be a bit more concerned for Kurt being knocked off of his feet, but this is still the beginning and she knows it'd take more than that to take him down. So, Melanie instead charges forward to take down Avalanche, but Inque takes this opportunity to come out from hiding in the shadows. She quickly moves to try and envelop Melanie, who in turn rushes to blast her with her mother's club. It's a bit awkward, but thankfully it's almost impossible to miss at such close range, and Inque is splattered all over the place before she brings herself back together.]
Kurt, meet Inque. [She'd explain the powers, but... well, it's pretty damn obvious what she can do. Melanie aims another blast at Inque, which she unfortunately manages to dodge.] Slag it!
no subject
Oh great. She'd fit in just fine at home.
[Okay. He needs to focus here. Lance is the easiest target to take down. So Kurt decides to focus on him. Drawing one of the swords, he teleports above Lance, using both his fall and the hilt of his sword to hit him smack in the head.]
no subject
Either way, the easiest targets right now would be Avalanche - who Kurt is currently taking care of - and Toad. Nimble as he is, he's not as fast as Pietro and as long as Melanie keeps a steady aim, she should be able to hit him.]
Just be careful of any shadows or darker places! [She sends another blast at Inque to try and ward her off, then starts moving to go after Toad.] When she's not in plain sight, she could hide anywhere in those areas! [Hell, with how Inque can change herself, she could pose as their own shadows if she wanted to.]
no subject
Hide anywhere? [Just as he says that, his own shadow suddenly seizes him by the legs, pulling his feet out from under him and collapsing on the ground. Before Inque can follow up to stab him, he teleports out of the way at the last second.]
Whoa, you weren't kidding! I thought Batman left superpowered guys to Superman!
no subject
She manages to fire another blast at Toad before Pietro rushes by and knocks her off her feet. Melanie groans irritably before picking herself back up.]
You know, these twips are getting really annoying.
no subject
[That's Lance down and Toad down now. Time to focus on Pietro. He may be fast, but he just needs one good hit to be taken down. Which will take some tricky timing. As he hops through Inque's multiple attacks, he 'ports out in the open, waiting for Pietro to race by. He has about a split second in which he 'ports again, reappears above the Blob to take hold of him, and then teleport the behemoth into Pietro's path. The two of them collide magnificently, knocking out Pietro and at the very least, stunning Blob.]
no subject
The only way to stop her from doing anything is to freeze her, but this isn't Gotham Cryogenics and Melanie didn't program in anything that could do that immediately. The only other alternative would be to just try and wash her away, which... could actually be doable. It's a prison, after all. There are sinks, toilets in the cells... all they'd have to do is bust those to get the water going everywhere and Inque would be taken care of.
So you know what? She's going to do just that. Thankfully, it's easy to do since all she has to do is find them and blast them - or it should be easy, at any rate. Inque constantly trying to attack her is certainly making it difficult.]
Kurt! I need you to help me flood the place! [Sure, they won't be able to completely flood it, but as long as they get enough water going, they'll be able to be rid of Inque.]
no subject
[He doesn't even know where to start. Unfortunately he's just not thinking along the same lines as she is. With only Blob and Inque remaining, he has a little more freedom to dodge and avoid them. It's only when Blob goes barreling through a cell and cracking the toilet bowl into dust that he catches on. He won't even need his blades for that.]
Ahh! Wait, I've got it!
[He starts teleporting from sink to toilet. Once he lands on one, he takes it with him to teleport, and then appears above Blob to drop a heavy sink or toilet on him, before vanishing to another. Before long, the corridor is starting to be covered with water.]
I hope we don't have to pay the water bill after this.
no subject
Melanie sends another blast straight for Inque - the only difference is that this time instead of reassembling herself, she'll be washed away.]
I guess there's just one left, now.
