so pile your boots up in the corner -- hang your jacket from the door

Who: anyone invited to house seven's thanksgivingstravaganza -- as well as anyone walking by who might be curious about all the brouhaha.
What: giving thanks!
When: forward dated to november 24th due to predicted holiday hiatuses!
Where: house seven!
Summary: friends, food, fondness. family. festivities.
Rating: g for goin' up.

House Seven was decked out in soft oranges and browns. Gentle reds and yellows. The table was shoved up against a wall and dish upon dish of delicious Thanksgiving dinner-bits adorned it. Plates to one side, a pile of cutlery. Feel free to line up and pile your arms high with roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, carrots and green beans, cranberry sauce, sinful gravy. Stuffing. Steamed broccoli. The amount of food would almost be laughable had the guest list not been so long. Chatter abounded.

It was, by all accounts, a fairly casual gathering. No ceremony (Buffy, by this point, was all ceremony'd out after some fiercely dedicated meal-prepping) to stand on and no customs to keep. Just food and friendship. The only thing customary about Buffy Summers would be her delighted, enchanted grin throughout the evening. Very little pleased her more than a social event that was going well.

Mix! Mingle! Make merry!

(ooc; threadjack into oblivion and don't forget to add your character to the entry tags! have fun! note that this is forward-dated. i'll be tagging around myself later this evening. )

"We would not be at a thanks giving party, from what I understand. If you hear Miss Summers talk on the matter, the food and the drink and the occasion are all one."

A slight eye-roll. So, another one Buffy's wrangled in. Why isn't he surprised? "She can call it whatever she wants, but I've always understood attitude is half the thing. It's hardly Thanksgiving if you aren't feeling thankful for anything."

Which, at the moment, he isn't, really.

"Nothing at all? Truly?"

The admiral casts his eyes into the room proper, focusing on nothing in particular.

"A sad state of affairs."

He doesn't answer that, because it's more that he doesn't want to admit he's thankful for anything than how he actually feels. Instead, he sips his drink and wonders how this had turned from him coming over here to harass this guy.

"Very. There aren't nearly enough flavors of pie around here--so. What's your story?"

"You will need to be more specific."

An awkward question, but he does not expect that the man is truly interested. The more that he can draw his answer out, the more the likelihood that this man of iron will give up and walk away.

To be perfectly frank, he isn't particularly interested. But this is part of his game in trying to make other people uncomfortable by getting them to talk and asking prying questions--is it working?

"Well--I'm sure you've got some tragic history from your home world, because that seems to be pretty common around here. But how do you know Buffy and the gang?"

"I am acquainted with Miss Buffy Summers primarily through my regretful entanglement with a certain piratical personage."

He finds this rather amusing--not exactly the type of guy Tony would expect to run with Sparrow's crowd, but hey, he's been surprised before.

"So, you're one of the Capn's friends? Wouldn't have called that."

"What, had you expected we might be enemies? That I might instead engage myself with pursuing him across the seas, hunting him for his crimes against the crown that he might repay his debt to society by way of a short drop and and a sudden -- stop?"

[identity profile] ironizing.livejournal.com 2011-12-21 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, putting it like that isn't suspicious at all. "Well--you never know. I try not to make judgments before I know the truth." Not so.

"I'm going to make a crazy shot in the dark and say you're not a pirate, then."

"I am not a pirate."

Points for observation.
