so pile your boots up in the corner -- hang your jacket from the door

Who: anyone invited to house seven's thanksgivingstravaganza -- as well as anyone walking by who might be curious about all the brouhaha.
What: giving thanks!
When: forward dated to november 24th due to predicted holiday hiatuses!
Where: house seven!
Summary: friends, food, fondness. family. festivities.
Rating: g for goin' up.

House Seven was decked out in soft oranges and browns. Gentle reds and yellows. The table was shoved up against a wall and dish upon dish of delicious Thanksgiving dinner-bits adorned it. Plates to one side, a pile of cutlery. Feel free to line up and pile your arms high with roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, carrots and green beans, cranberry sauce, sinful gravy. Stuffing. Steamed broccoli. The amount of food would almost be laughable had the guest list not been so long. Chatter abounded.

It was, by all accounts, a fairly casual gathering. No ceremony (Buffy, by this point, was all ceremony'd out after some fiercely dedicated meal-prepping) to stand on and no customs to keep. Just food and friendship. The only thing customary about Buffy Summers would be her delighted, enchanted grin throughout the evening. Very little pleased her more than a social event that was going well.

Mix! Mingle! Make merry!

(ooc; threadjack into oblivion and don't forget to add your character to the entry tags! have fun! note that this is forward-dated. i'll be tagging around myself later this evening. )

I'm from Earth, one variation of it. No demons or magic around, no monsters either. Just humans causing trouble for humans. Ginia frowns slightly as she thinks on her world, how everything about it simply was due to the actions and mistakes of fellow humans. There was no one to blame for the state of things but humanity itself. A much too sobering thought on such a happy day and Ginia pushes a smile back on.

I've always found it remarkable how many versions of Earth there seems to be.

"I'm still getting used to it. The versions. The Sunnydale version is one I'm still trying to stomach."

She wondered what it would be like to be from a place where the only one to blame was yourself. Sunnydale and L.A. had that, of course, but it was so much easier to pass the blame onto the creatures of the shadows.

"Your home sounds nice," she said, sincerely. Saying Earth was weird, even with the knowledge that people didn't come from the same L.A. she hailed from. "Sounds normal. Kind of don't know what that means anymore," she gave a small smile.

Kinda blows your mind when you first hear about it. Giles was the one who gave me the introduction, we compared notes about our respective worlds over lunch. She can't help the small smile at that memory. It'd been a good first day, good conversation, lunch, a solid foundation for a relationship she never would have imagined.

That's only because I'm leaving out all the gritty details. It gets complicated. And I'm not sure what anyone knows is normal. I guess normal is whatever you have around you. This place isn't normal no matter how you look at it, but experiments, drafts, and oddities are all part of the norm.

"Try living it," Cordelia sighs. As much as she longed for the normal life - which was visionless - she knew she'd never give it up for anything. She liked her kind of normal; if she didn't have her world, she wouldn't have the family she has with the Angel Investigations team.

She didn't want to get used to the 'norm' here, though. She'd like that to stay as far away and strange to her as possible.

She cocks an eyebrow. "Your world? Is it anything like Sunnydale?"

My world is- She pauses as she thinks back on the comparisons. plain in comparison to other worlds. Nothing supernatural, no demons, vampires, magic, monsters, nothing of the sort. It's quite different in other way, changes in world history. It seems events in my world went differently than most other versions of Earth.

It's made for some fascinating reading at the very least. She's poured over all the history books on US history she could find, marveled over all the changes and the idea of the country not so fractured as it was in her world. It didn't mean things were perfect in other worlds, but it made things interesting to learn about.
