Summary: It's an underground mine! And the Malnosso want you to kill and capture all the bad guys! Oh, but don't let the rocks fall on you. That could hurt.
Rating: B for BLOOD. Seriously. People are going to die. People have already died. We're not going to make it out of here. We're all screwed, it's Game Over, man!

I can't properly bandage your leg over your trousers, my dear.

I can either ask you to remove them [which he imagined would not go over well] or I can cut the fabric just above them and you can, once I have wrapped it properly, change.

[And this is where we see the "insensitive" part come out. It doesn't happen often. Just... sometimes. Like now.]

[ silently, she holds out the arm. let him deal with that first while she sulked and reconsidered and agonized over the leg. ]

[Stephen washes the wound carefully, applying rubbing alcohol to the cloth then the wound after. He has, at least, incorporated that into his tools of the trade.

Then, once the injury is clean, he begins to wrap the wound carefully, skilled fingers doing the work they're best at.]

It will hurt no worse than wrapping your arm did. What is your great objection?

[ oh. stephen. you just opened the lid on a whole can of emotionally unstable worms. ]

W-well, you know when...you know when someone means an awful awful lot to you and you did certain things with that someone and to do those same things with someone else would somehow...that it's somehow really difficult?

Impossibly, even?

To do those same things with someone else would feel like a betrayal.

He knows that sentiment far too well, the look on his face says.]

Then, you see, if I let you get too doctor-happy with my me? It'd be a lot like going behind my last doctor's back. And he was...[ like a brother to her. ] He's a very good doctor. Not that...God, not that you're not.

Just...it'd be like cheating. On him. Medically. Does that even make sense?

[ not really. bones would, of course, have wanted her to be treated. but buffy had never really had a doctor/patient relationship with anyone before bones. her...feelings were very complicated and wrapped up in that familial connection. that care and protection. ]
