Out with the old....
Who: Everyone
What: New Year's.
When: Dec. 31st, New Year's Eve, to Jan 1st, New Year's Day.
Where: Everywhere
Summary: It's New Year's, and the people of Luceti have a lot to reflect upon, and to look forward to. And on a more meta level, new journal names.
Rating: We'll see...
New Year's brings images of crowds, and songs, and fireworks; staying up til midnight and watching balls or bells being rung. But Luceti is a different time and place. Whether you're partying with friends or watching the sunrise, what are you doing today?

She spots Caroline over by the fountain and decides to go over to say hello, a wool coat over her evening attire.
"Hey, Caroline! Happy New Years!"

Enjoying yourself?"

"I'm having a blast. I love parties and fireworks. About time this place did something normal for a change. I'll take celebrations like these over battles and the craziness that happens here any day."
no subject
"I agree. The parties and everything help round things out. Though I'm working with Rise to throw together a tropical party for the New Feather party. But this, right Noe?" she stops to look around at everything and everyone. "This is a good way to round out one year and ring in a new one."

Realizing she'd gotten off topic, Caroline laughs and stuffs her hands in her pockets. "Wow, listen to me, going off on tangents. You're right, though. This party? Great way to end things. Goodbye year-- Whatever year it's supposed to be."

She smiles and gives a light wave of her hand. "Don't worry about it. I think most conversations go off on tangents here. And it's a little weird celebrating the coming of a new year without knowing what year it is. The fifth cycle, but I guess it turned over in October. It'd be 2013 for me, if I were back home."

Caroline had only recently been made aware of the Battle Dome's ability to create locations for recreational use that didn't involve fighting for your life. Draco had taken her there for her birthday and had recreated Hogsmeade, that village near his school that she'd heard so much about. It had seemed so real and she easily lost herself in the simulation, forgetting that it was all fake and she wasn't still in Luceti, not back on Earth, somewhere in the United Kingdom. Now she knew why all those people on Star Trek loved the holodeck so much.
"Time doesn't seem to be something the Malnosso are big fans of." Especially with the way they just grabbed people from random points in time. She was ahead of her mother, and she'd been ahead of Elena, too. "You've got two years on me. It would've been 2011 if I were ringing in the New Year in Mystic Falls."

If Ginia knew Draco had taken her suggestion, gone with it, and made it a success, she'd be quite pleased. The Battle Dome was wonderful like that, a pleasant little escape from reality filled with infinite possibilities only limited by the imagination one had.
"I think I only know a small handful of people ahead of me as far as Earth years go. Otherwise people are within two or three years, or back in the 90s." She grins slightly, remembering a few occasions of pop culture references being missed. "Nice having a few modern people around who understand why I miss my laptop at times or get my movie references."

Caroline was tempted to go in and make something from Mystic Falls. Maybe her house or the grill or even the high school. It might be fake, but it would've been a glimmer of a home she might never see again and knowing that she could indulge that homesickness and nostalgia if she wanted was a little on the side of irresistible.
"I know what you mean. Pop culture references go over so many heads here. You mention Lady Gaga and they think you're talking about some dead European chick."

Ginia personally thinks a movie night would be nice for everyone. They'd have to be careful with the movie selection and not accidentally show someone's personal story, but it could be a nice fun and relaxing night for all. Lots of popcorn, comfortable couches or beanbag chairs, big screen... why not?
"On the other hand, it's fun quoting movies and songs and no one knowing the wiser."
