Summary: IT'S A SUMMER PARTY
Rating: Worksafe, I reckon!
It's cold out there today, isn't it? Sure, it's not snowing but once you get into the Battle Dome, it'll be comfortably warmer. Warmer, not warm. Follow the tiny paper arrows and you'll probably find yourself in, well...summer!

It certainly looks convincing enough (a pool, a volleyball court, deck chairs, everything that you'd think you'd find at a pool party) and feels convincing enough (take off that coat! Aren't you hot?) so why not not step in? The barbecue's sizzling and there's some nice cold drinks at the cooler.

C'mon in, the water's awesome!

[Oh well. Link is unaware that big splashes tend to dislodge things like bikinis, and we don't need the whole dome passing out...]

[Swimming over, he gives her a smile.] The water's nice, huh?

Yes, it's nice and warm. It's even warmer than the ocean!

[She means during the summer, but either way, it's certainly true.]

Uh huh! I'm going to have to learn how to do this for the next time it's cold outside but I want to swim. [He's splashing around pretty cheerfully - it's nice in the water when it's warm out.]

[Grune, meanwhile, appears to be treading water entirely without thinking about it.]

That's a very good idea! Then you can invite all your friends and we can have another party!

[In fairness, it's probably best not to think too hard about treading water.]

Okay - and that way we don't have to worry about the weather being bad or anything!

Yes, because we can make it be a sunny day! [She giggles.]

We can make it any weather we want! [...But preferably not snow.]

[Well...!]

Do you think we could make it sunny and snowing and warm all at the same time?

[This gets a rather dubious look.] I think the snow would melt. Unless it wasn't real snow.

We could make it pretend snow, so it would be warm enough to go swimming, but the snow would still look very nice sparkling in the sun.

[Pretend snow, huh? He considers it for a moment.]

...I guess that might be okay.

[How she manages to give him her usual puzzled look while treading water is something of a mystery, but she pulls it off anyway.]

Don't you think it would be pretty?

[He hesitates briefly, then shrugs as best he can while in the water, admitting quietly,] I don't... really like snow much.

[...Something is wrong. Link doesn't sound very good at all right now.

She paddles over a little closer, then asks softly:] Why not?

[Looking a little like a rabbit being eyed by a hungry wolf, Link considers lying. Then he considers telling the truth, then... considers lying again. Eventually, he sighs, going straight for deflection.]

...It reminds me of something that happened. But it was a long time ago - [Just over a year ago, actually -] and it's not really important.

[She shakes her head at that.]

If it makes you sad, then it's important.

[It's a little hard to talk like this, isn't it?]

Why don't we go sit on the chairs and talk?

[It's... kind of tempting, actually. But on the other hand, he doesn't want to worry Grune - and it is in the past.]

It's okay. I'm just being dumb. Want to go swimming some more?

[For once, she ignores his question and...actually almost studies him.]

Are you sure you're all right, Link?

[...She's actually serious.]

[Hesitating, he shakes his head.] I'm alright now. Something bad did happen in the past, but I'm okay now. Snow just reminds me of it.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Snow is so nice and so much fun to play in that it's too bad it makes you sad.

Maybe someday, we can make some nicer memories in the snow together.

[He smiles weakly - he does have fond memories of snow, and he really does have that they've been tainted by Yuber.]

Okay. Maybe - maybe next winter, it won't be as bad.

I hope so. [She smiles back encouragingly.] I don't want you to be sad, Link.

[You know what? Neither does he. He smiles just a little bit brighter.] Me either. Thanks, Grune.

[Food! Now that's a sure-fire way to distract Link.] Okay! [He's getting all pruney, anyway...]
