Summary: No one wants to miss the SOCIAL EVENT OF THE SEASON. Also an Angel piñata & Jack Sparrow is the guest of honor. GO CRAZY!

[Spike paced, waiting for the first arrivals. It was barely sundown as he pulled the curtains away from the windows and set various foodstuffs on the counter for general consumption, though the onions are mysteriously disappearing before the party begins. Magic.

The Ramones are playing softly in the background on a stolen boombox, the wine Buffy brought set up next to the whiskey he himself nicked. One would think it'd be impossible to have an anxiety attack without a beating heart...

For once, Spike has ditched his typical black on black for charcoal slacks and a light blue sweater, though the ever-present motorcycle boots haven't gone anywhere. He's ready to make a complete fool of himself, drink in hand as he answers the door.]

"I don't see how that would make him STOP Jack!" Still laughing into her hand, coughing a little, and grinning ear to ear.

"...what services did he offer you after you paid him?"

"The only service I asked for: for him to bugger off. Captain Jack Sparrow does not dally with rent-boys!"

"Not for any lack of effort on their part, it seems." Another soft round of laughter before she composes herself and stands, sipping her drink.

"My life, my love, and my lady is the sea. They all know that where I'm from.

Except for the sea herself, she's in love with another bloke. Such is my life, cherie, such is my life."

"I was under the impression the sea loved no one that dared challenge her." Then again, different worlds. Perhaps he means a goddess- she gets as far as that thought before snorting at herself. Impossible.

"Oh, Tia liked a challenge, she did." And that was when Jack's mind sort of drifted off to the night he'd won his compass from her.

"...the sea is named 'Tia'?" Adele blinks at Jack, tempted to call bullshit.

[all7seas]

"Calypso. Went by Tia Dalma in human form. I know her personally."

To know her personally carried a great deal of cultural cache in Jack's world. No wonder he was so miffed when she'd turned her attentions so blatantly on William Turner.

"....I truly wish this is the strangest thing I have heard since I've come here. But it's not." She lifts a shoulder and resumes sipping her champagne. Jack 'knowing' a goddess of the sea that went about in human form was...odd.

"What's so strange about it? She was a beautiful obeah woman. Gorgeous hair. Scary, sometimes, but that's because she's the sea.

She used to live here, you know."

"Ignoring the fact that I don't know what an 'obeah' woman is, or want to contemplate your idea of 'beautiful hair', the idea of there being a deity of any sort alive, well, and active in the world is strange to me. ON that alone, it is odd." And she'd used to live here. Well. Adele's just come late to the party all around now hasn't she?

"She's much happier NOT here, I assure you. There wasn't even a sea for most of her time here. Think of that -- being Calypso and being landlocked. Like torture!"

"It must have been agonizing for her." No sarcasm at all in her tone. To be cut off from that which made you what you were, from what you loved? It was painful, of that Adele has no doubt.

"She bore it well, did Tia. But it was a hard thing to see. If she were ever to return, she'd be happier, possibly.

....Wait. Why would I not have an appreciation for beautiful hair, hmm?"

Returning to an earlier comment.

"The sea is, above all things, patient. I've no doubt she managed."

"What one does to their hair is typically indicative of their preferences Jack. And..." She gestures to his mess of a hairstyle. "This could speak volumes."

"Oh REALLY. What, pray tell, is it saying to you? Hmm?"

"Dreadlocks and shiny bits. Possible preference for brunettes, appreciation for it to be slightly mussed whether by design or circumstance, perhaps soft on women since yours is not." She shrugs and goes back to enjoying her champagne. "Or just blonde and slightly wavy, but that's cheating."

"My hair can be VERY soft when the right Chinese hair treatment is applied!"

He ignored the blond versus brunette conundrum. Brunettes were always trouble. Always, always. Blonds weren't much better.

"Which would that be? I'm curious." She's not laughing at you at all Jack. Ignore this.

"Shampoo? And that conditioner that smells like orchids."

[fleurdesel]

"Orchids. You would walk around smelling of orchids." No sarcasm, just...puzzlement. "I suppose if you spend most of your time on the ocean you would want to smell of something that you do not have with you."

"It's not what I want. It's what--

Right. A bit over a year ago two women held me down and shampooed my head. And they used that flowery creamy stuff on it, and afterward AYE it smelled like orchids but it was soft."

And REALLY wavy. Curly, almost -- the parts that weren't dreaded.

"Conditioner for damaged hair, most likely. I do not understand why most bathing products marketed for women must smell of flowers, fruit, or chocolate." Adele, herself, used items that smelled like nothing. Fragrances were disruptive if one needed to tell if a wound was subtly rancid.

"Because flowers, fruit, and chocolate smell delicious! And it's lovely when women smell all nice and delicious!"
