Who: Everyone. New Feathers! Old Feathers...?
What: New Feather welcome party.
When: 18th, 6 pm onwards.
Where: Welcome Centre.
Summary: This is a party. There's food and games (if you like) but the idea behind it is basically to mingle mingle mingle. Maybe make a new friend/enemy/frenemy or two?
Rating: G-PG 13 at most? There might be kids in these things, man.

The all-day rain outside makes the entire atmosphere a little drippy, a little wet, a little miserable. But rain or not, the party must go on! Or at least, so the saying goes.

It's a cosy little setup-- food, warm drinks, tables and chairs to lounge around in. So come on in, dry yourself off, have some fun. Why the hell not? The weather outside is frightful.

Grell and I? We were still in the whole 'what do you do in your spare time' bit. Nothing serious.

[Aside from the playing, the curiosity about Grell's comment on 'ending his life beautifully', and his own confusion on why he started to slip his plans were heavily present. Physiology aside, she truely was a woman--he was starting to be played.]

And I don't know, I think I shall like meeting her if this is her taste in men. Perhaps we'll get along.

Getting a peek at his Record seems like it should reveal all sorts of fun experiences, and you know how I love to be entertained.

[Wow. Someone be amazed. Smoker called a thief a friend. In public. This deserves champagne and a ticker tape parade or something.]

[Another suspicious comment from Grell--he was gonna have to ask about that sometime. That will not stop him from whining, however.]

The sleight of hand is enough for now, Cap'. And, I just said, there's nothing worth stealing here! Why else do you think I'm having a hard time here?

Spoilsport. [She bites at his finger playfully and sighs.] It's not an issue anyway. With Will here, one step out of line in that regard and he'll have my pretty neck in his scythe instead.

[She rests her head against Smoker's shoulder.] Perhaps we should set up a thieving competition, to keep your lovely skills from becoming rusty, Monsieur.

Yeah, I met Will. He seems a bit uptight.

[Wow. You know a person has a problem when even Smoker calls someone uptight.]

[......] A what? Thieving competition? [He wants to be a thousand times more angry about that. First of all, no. Bad. Encouraging illegal misbehaviour is very very bad. On the other hand, maybe that would actually be a sort of drug fix for all the thieves in Luceti. And also... it's really hard for him to be mad with her head all snuggling on his shoulder.] How would that work? [Discreetly pets her red hair... daw.]

Like capture the flag or something, I assume. Hide things around the village tricky like, have people grab them within a time limit. Whomever has the most wins.

It could even be nothing things, like little plastic boxes with a pad and paper in there to log name and time. Not necessarily the concept of stealing, really, but the challenge of a comparable task.

[He's thinking out loud here, really, and has to admit that he rather likes the idea. But, that can be saved for later.]

...could one of you two explain the wierd things that keep popping up in this conversation? Records? Scythes? Cap...I'm not much of a fighter, but I really don't die easily--and why would beautiful here want to kill me in the first place?

[Oh shi-- She freezes when he mentions he met Will already. That. Is bad. Very bad. She hasn't even told Will about Smoker yet. Oh bloody hell.]

Yes, like Monsieur Lupin says, a competition of sorts, just to keep the less...lawfully inclined entertained. It's terrible of us to let them waste away, don't you think?

[And as for that last bit? She looks at Lupin and smiles, showing off her shark teeth.]

It's simply business, love. Don't worry, you needn't worry about the explanation of it all until That Time comes - and until then, I'm afraid I can't tell you. Will would have my head for it.

Hn. I was thinking more lockpicking and treasure hunting, but so long as it's not actually taking anything from people unwillingly...

Will's sort of her boss, correct? Though for the record Red, he's a lot worse about keeping things secret than you. [WELL, before she came here again Smoker definitely would have said that. This time he's not sure. Having so many people know her without her knowing what they know must be throwing her off.]

[Sarcasm. They know something, and he wants to know. Badly. Call him a jerk, but it was that undeniable itch again. He sighs--he'd figure it out later. For now...]

It could still be that. The people doing the hiding just need to be really clever about it, probably offer clues too. Just the thought I'm having anyway.

He really is, so I don't see why he lectures me about secrecy. [SIGH. She looks over at Lupin and smiles. Poor thief, he can't be told until Grell is certain of her position here. If everyone knows she's a death god, then there's no harm in telling, but if she's supposed to keep it quiet, then....]

It sounds as if you are looking forward to this competition. It could even be a great event: crowning the Luceti King of Thieves.

[She looks up at Smoker.] And it would keep them busy, hm? No harm, no foul, entertainment for all.

Hn... I suppose....

[But don't expect him to be pleased about something that basically glorifies law-breaking.]

So long as nothing truly belonging to anyone gets taken.

[Besides, his cop instincts are already hard at work thinking how it could be a trap to make the thieves all show themselves.]

[His eyes meet Grell's for just a second--he's watching the redhead, driven by curiosity and recklessness once again.

That's why people who aren't participating should do the picking and hiding, Cap'. This could get pretty similar to a game back home that involves what I described, plus clues and GPS tracking. I've tried it a few times myself, and it's decent enough.

It doesn't beat breaking into a casino's vault, but it's something. [And he's always looking for ward to something that breaks the monotony.]

They could always make the prizes to be taken something specially created for the event, love. It's a game, after all. The best sort of game.

[With traps and difficulties and the possibility of people dying if they set off alarms. Thrilling.]

Tch. Maybe... It still sounds like it's encouraging thievery. [Which he doesn't like. After all, rewarding them for bad behaviour? What kind of precedent does that set? Although she called him love, in public, so whatever arguments he has feel completely weak.]

Who would you get to referee it? [He hears Lupin on the 3rd party thing, but that doesn't mean Smoker's willing to sign up either.]

And what of the thieves that are stuck here with nary a hobby or an opportunity. [That smile is a touch wicked, even with the company he's with.] If you're worried, Cap', why don't you play Ref?

And excuse me if the plight of thieves isn't something that bothers me. [At least he can blush and snark at the same time.]

What? [A growl. He's heard some stories about her from Zenigata, the idea of Fujiko liking Smoker is just disturbing to him. Aside from which; "adorable?" So far over the line it's been left in the dust and completely covered. He is not adorable and don't make him prove it with a punch. However Grell squeezing and practically cooing over him just makes him turn lobster red.]

Oi! That's--

[The whole double-teaming is going to kill him. He has no idea how to handle it. One of them alone is hard enough, but with them both together he's going going to get whiplash. At minimum.]
