Who: Everyone. New Feathers! Old Feathers...?
What: New Feather welcome party.
When: 18th, 6 pm onwards.
Where: Welcome Centre.
Summary: This is a party. There's food and games (if you like) but the idea behind it is basically to mingle mingle mingle. Maybe make a new friend/enemy/frenemy or two?
Rating: G-PG 13 at most? There might be kids in these things, man.

The all-day rain outside makes the entire atmosphere a little drippy, a little wet, a little miserable. But rain or not, the party must go on! Or at least, so the saying goes.

It's a cosy little setup-- food, warm drinks, tables and chairs to lounge around in. So come on in, dry yourself off, have some fun. Why the hell not? The weather outside is frightful.

"Oh, yeah. I've been doing great. Hey, um... how long does it usually take for stuff to show up in the shop? Because there's a couple things I'm really wishing I had, right about now..."

"Well... I've got a couple rings, a bracelet, a staff about to here-"

I gestured to about his height.

"And a wooden rod about this long."

I held up my hands roughly a foot and a half apart.

"Tools of the trade, so to speak."

"In all honesty, I don't think they are. I've even tried location spells, using my own magical signature as a focus, and gotten nothing."

Wait. Had I told him I was a wizard?

Well. Crap. I don't think I'd told him that I was a wizard.

Ah, well, he's a Jedi, it's not like he's gonna care, right?

"I can carve a new staff and a new blasting rod, but it'll take forever- and the rings and bracelet might be a little trickier to duplicate."

Oh? So you weren't kidding when you said you had experience with magic. Mind telling me a bit about it? I'm sure its different than what I'm used to.

And...whats a blasting rod?

"Uh, well. Our magic is sort of... malleable. Shaped by will. If you have the inherent ability, you can create a mental pattern for the effect you want to create and bring it into being.

Most magical tools, accoutrements, and foci are used for that- my blasting rod, for example, helps me to focus fire magic into a small-scale burst suitable for use in battle. otherwise it's just a great big flare that goes everywhere. The bracelet acts as an anchor for a shield spell, a rather complex and intricate one. Can stop bullets, heat, fire, electricity, and I'd be willing to bet even lightsabers. Haven't had an opportunity to test the latter before."

And the fact that I did then was awesome beyond words, but he didn't need me to tell him that, I'm sure.

"My staff lets me focus my will more efficiently for large-scale spells, and my rings are actually more like batteries- they store up a little bit of kinetic energy every time I move my hand, and I can unleash them in bursts when I hit something to make it hit a hell of a lot harder."

Well, I'm certain your shield would stop lightsabers. Most magical things, in my experience, do. There are even Force abilities a Jedi or Sith can use to empower something as ordinary as a stick to block them.

[He smiles at the overenthusiastic wizard, though.]

Your magic sounds a bit like the Force, save for the elemental aspects. I'd like to see you work some, sometime. Once you have it all together.
