Who: Everyone. New Feathers! Old Feathers...?
What: New Feather welcome party.
When: 18th, 6 pm onwards.
Where: Welcome Centre.
Summary: This is a party. There's food and games (if you like) but the idea behind it is basically to mingle mingle mingle. Maybe make a new friend/enemy/frenemy or two?
Rating: G-PG 13 at most? There might be kids in these things, man.

The all-day rain outside makes the entire atmosphere a little drippy, a little wet, a little miserable. But rain or not, the party must go on! Or at least, so the saying goes.

It's a cosy little setup-- food, warm drinks, tables and chairs to lounge around in. So come on in, dry yourself off, have some fun. Why the hell not? The weather outside is frightful.

You are settling in well enough, I take it. [It takes but a moment to set her current platter of baked goods on a nearby table to better focus on the conversation. Adele very carefully keeps Scorpius in her line of sight. Just in case.]

I've only been here three months; and while it hasn't been so explicit? Some have not adjusted quite so easily.

I imagine so. It is not in the nature of many species to adjust to captivity... well.

It is antithetical to most...would it be prying to ask what species it is that you are?

Sebacean. ...Sebacean, and Scarran both. It would be prying for you to ask the details of my birth but. [inhale] The heritage itself is common knowledge.

Asking anyone the details of their birth is prying. I do not know of many that make a practice of it. [Neither of those were familiar to her in the slightest. She still makes a mental note of it; perhaps the library will prove enlightening.]

No... I suppose not. Well then, doctor, what species might you be? [A pause] After all, though you look Sebacean I... think not.

Human, the last I checked. I do not think it has changed since I woke this morning, but then this place is terribly inconsistent.

So I've heard. [Hm. Maybe he should have another cookie. Well then] And in your time you have done more than, ah, hear. I would assume.

I have experienced one experiment induced shift. There is talk of another as well. They are...disconcerting.

Talk of another?

We do not often get such warnings but; the Malnosso were looking for volunteers for a specific sort of shift.

Volunteers... ah. For that proposal to "go home" for a day. Of course. [Inhale] Well then- would it be prying to ask of your experiences in that other Shift you encountered?

Shift induced romanticism, more or less. Individuals around the village were compelled to find one another. From what I've come to understand there were several variations of the shift, but the one that I found most disconcerting was the rewrite of memory. Some, when paired up, only ever remembered being involved in a romantic relationship with them.

And these subjects, with their memories rewritten... they remember a romance with no origin and yet did not find it suspect?

It had an origin; that was a part of the rewritten memories. Most did not question it. Love can blind those that want it badly enough.

I... suppose so. Still. I would wish for a more detailed account.

...how detailed?

A personal account would suffice.

I was paired with a man I'd only met two weeks before the shift; a man I disliked a great deal. On the morning of the twelfth he found me in the Battle Dome, and once we made visual contact our respective memories had been rewritten. In the alternative memory, I'd known him since I arrived, and loved him for at least a month and a half. For the duration of the week I lived with him, and we behaved as those long in love.

Associates of mine not effected by the shift found my behavior odd, and brought it to my attention. Those that were shared the altered memories and thought it normal. At the end of the week the beach was thawed, fruits in the shape of stars grew that had various effects depending upon the ripeness. Villagers were compelled to consume, and share, these fruit. After the shift ended our memories were set back to how they were, though we recalled the alternative memories and all we'd done in the week.

[...Well, saying all that in the middle of a party. Cool. he keeps a straight face through it all, keeping a very strict sort of eye contact. But hearing that...]

A month or less to fall in love, then.
