Who: Everyone. New Feathers! Old Feathers...?
What: New Feather welcome party.
When: 18th, 6 pm onwards.
Where: Welcome Centre.
Summary: This is a party. There's food and games (if you like) but the idea behind it is basically to mingle mingle mingle. Maybe make a new friend/enemy/frenemy or two?
Rating: G-PG 13 at most? There might be kids in these things, man.

The all-day rain outside makes the entire atmosphere a little drippy, a little wet, a little miserable. But rain or not, the party must go on! Or at least, so the saying goes.

It's a cosy little setup-- food, warm drinks, tables and chairs to lounge around in. So come on in, dry yourself off, have some fun. Why the hell not? The weather outside is frightful.

Katniss! Katniss! [Rue runs up, all smiles and laughter as she holds up a plate of small sandwiches. Ham, cheese, and lettuce, and some peanut and jelly jelly sandwiches are on her plate. Standard fare for anyone in the village, but to Rue, they're some of the most delicious things she's ever had.]

Have a sandwich!

[She's been on guard with just about everyone she's met here but when Rue runs up to her, a smile fills her face. This is something she'll never get tired of. Whatever else happens here, whatever else happened at home, she clings to this. To her.

She takes one of the peanut and jelly ones and takes a bite.]

That's... sticky.

[But good. Very good. And definitely deserving of another bite.]

It's peanut butter and jelly. [Rue shares matter-of-factly, always pleased to share whatever she learns with her friend and ally. She takes a bite of a sandwich herself, all smiles and happiness.]

Are you having fun? [A slightly muffled comment as she talks around a mouthful of food. Effie would be horrified.]

[Her indigestion would be ruined.

But Katniss doesn't have the same issues with manners that Effie had. All that matters is seeing Rue happy, stuffing herself with food she should have been allowed to have long ago. And even if she's not having the best of times, seeing that makes it all worth while.

Which is why her answer isn't so much of a lie as a half-truth.]

Yeah. [She reaches for one of the other sandwiches on Rue's plate, the ham and cheese one.] The food's incredible.

I met someone with a tail! And someone even taller than Thresh!

[And as she begins to laugh at Rue's enthusiasm, she also begins to choke on a piece of sandwich. The laughing turns into gasps until she upchucks the glob of meat and bread on to a napkin.

And then she's chuckling sheepishly. Effie would not be happy if she saw her now.]

Did you see the man floating cups?

[Rue looks alarmed when Katniss begins to cough, but oh, much better. Better something to come up than to stay stuck down.]

Oh no, I didn't, but I saw a magic show! There was a man making all sorts of animals out of light! They were very pretty and he was so nice.

[She missed that. It's hard for her to picture it, too. But it sounds wonderful. And she so wants to keep Rue happy.]

Maybe a good ally?

Oh yes, I think so. He look so nice too. He's very... green and gold. [The color of his wings, but also the same as his green eyes and gold hair.]

[She tries picturing this. Pale green skin like Octavia, with brilliant gold hair. Someone out of the Capitol. And that alone makes her feel a little bit of distrust.]

I'll keep an eye out for him.

What about the man floating cups? What's he like?

[She busies herself with slow chews of her sandwich as she thinks. He didn't seem that bad at first. Until he spoke in her mind.

That... intrusion had been unexpected. And completely unwanted.]

Strange.

Strange how? Like someone from the Capitol? Because I met someone with a tail, but he didn't have it attached like they do in the Capitol.
