A Day In Another World

Who: Anyone in the event
What: For 21 hours, pairs of characters will get to visit one of their worlds
When: Sunday morning, from 1AM to 10PM (in Luceti time)
Where: Somewhere else!
Summary: It's described here. One person will play the host, another the visitor.
Rating: Keep it clean, kids! Move your icky business to appointments posts.

Quick run of things to keep in mind:

-The pair of characters will return to the host's canon point. The host will temporarily return to their physical state at whatever their canon point was.
-Anything they do will be undone after they return to Luceti.
-If they are going to be part of the Alternate Universe aspect of the event, they won't remember the visit until after they have returned to normal.

Disclaimer: Visiting canon worlds will mean having to NPC characters that may already exist in Luceti, but will have no memory or knowledge of it. Be respectful and in character and bear in mind that these do not reflect upon characters in game!

ALSO! Threading out the visit is 100% optional. You're entirely free and encouraged to discuss and handwave what goes on if you want. But if you would like to thread it out, you may do so here.

[He smiles, if only to hide his discomfort.]

Like Luke here said, it's complicated. But, we're kinda...uh

Han, you may want to sit down for this.

[The Corellian raises an eyebrow, but he trusts Luke]

Lupin and I...are neighbors. Only...not here. Something, weird's been going on the last few months. Though, only a second of time's passed here. Somehow, he and I have been ensnared in some sort of...trap?

[He raises a hand to stop protests]

We've been stuck in some other dimension, like if we got stuck in Hyperspace but weren't going faster than light. You know, how we jump between realities when we enter it? Like that. Its...hard to describe exactly, but Lupin and I are caught in some sort of nexus of worlds.

I KNOW it sounds crazy, but in all seriousness, its whats going on.

[Skeptical looks, but...somewhat accepting of what Luke is saying. He's said a lot of weird stuff before, this isn't THAT out of the ordinary]

Tell them, Lupin.

[redjacketthief]

[He flashes a glance at Luke, not entirely certain about what the Jedi was planning, before he smiles cheerfully at the crowd.]

It's true. We've been living in the same building for five months now, about, and I've been living in the apartment above his for the passed three.

[The others give a somewhat odd look, glancing among themselves as they do]

Its...rather complicated. But we're only here for a short time. I just wanted to say it to someone. I'm not going crazy, I've had very real experiences there. Its not all bad, but I honestly just wanted to SAY something to someone back home...

[Luke sighs. The others give him appraising looks, but when Han and Kyp nod in acceptance, Mara and Kyle's skeptical glances fade]

Anyway. With such limited time, I...was kind of hoping that we could do something nice for Lupin. Han, would you object horribly to taking us out in the Falcon?

[He turns and winks at Lupin]

[Oh man! oh man, oh man, oh man! Lupin manages to contain his glee to only a smile and a glimmer of boyish excitment in his dark eyes.]

If it's not too much, that is...[but that would be awesome!]

"Yea, sure, kid. Hell, if half what you said is true...then this guy deserves it. Stuck in some weird prison plane? I'm not even sure I wanna know Luke. But you've told me some crazy stuff before...and its always turned out to be true."

[Luke smiles at Han, nodding, and the group moves off towards the hangar, R2 in toe.]

[Lupin fights the urge to point out that he's a thief, one who's killed for no reason other than someone got in his way, because he realizes that his antics are perfectly mundane in a Galaxy where men like himself roam the stars and work alongside other men who have strange abilities that can't easily be explained. He doesn't point out that he's sentenced to the electric chair in multiple countries, life in prison in others, and doesn't dare point out that he's caused chaos for the mere thrill of it.

None of his antics compare. In a wierd way, it made him feel a little small.

Eventually, he draws close to Luke to speak sotto voce.]

Hey. Thanks.

[At the same time, Lupin is quite right. Every single person in the room, including R2, is responsible for the deaths of hundreds, thousands, or even millions. His crimes ARE small compared to what the others here had done.

Don't mention it. May as well enjoy it since we're here, right?

For however long it may be, right. It sounds pretty awesome.

[Though ht would never admit it out loud, sometimes there was value in being small in the grand scheme. It provided a different perspective, allowed for instances where he could be around some of the characters from some of his favorite movies.

For all the boredom that was usually to be had in Luceti, moments like this were the perfect counterbalance and made time spent in the gilded prison almost worthwhile.]

...You know? I've never been in space before. Gotta wonder what the others will say about then when they find out. If we remember this at all. Who knows, with the Malnosso?

You never know, Lupin. Perhaps this could be for longer than we think, what with the experiment taking unwilling subjects.

[Luke smiles, and keeps going, while Kyle gives Lupin an interesting look. Perhaps sizing up a fellow Agent?]

[It was one step closer to getting home, and simultaneously one step farther away. They had gotten somewhere, at least, even if it only was for a matter of moments.] I hear ya on that. It burns me too...

[He catches Kyles gaze and returns it with a curious look of his own. The man was a Battlemaster, and this was a part of the story that was further along than he knew. What was the safest approach?]

"Mr. Lupin, what is it that you do for a living?"

[Kyle's voice is even and gruff, but not unkind. Clearly, he's just curious]

[Simple curiosity, no more and no less. His impulse, enforced by Luceti with questions like these, is again to lie...but his career wouldn't be that far from normal in this setting, in this crowd. Lupin smiles.]

Luke here describes me as a rascal, if that gives you a few clues. If push comes to shove and this ends up being a permanent trip, it wouldn't be hard for me to find work.

[There would just be a million questions and more. And culture shock.]

"Ah, a mercenary and Foul-Weather Jack. An acceptable occupation. Have you any particular speciality?"

[Luke smiles as he listens to the Battlemaster questioning the thief. He figured that Lupin would be quite surprised to learn that of all people Kyle had once been an Imperial Officer, who'd turned sides for love...and money]

Actually? No one pays me. I specialize in acquisitions and infiltration, and I usually only work when something big is involved. I...do it for myself, really.

[At least, when described like this, his vocation as a prankster and thief comes across as less petty. He manages to relax at this, the knowledge that lecture and police involvment had been avoided doing wonders for his mind.]

[Kyle gives Luke a knowing glance, but says nothing more. Which is just fine because its about that time they reach the hangar bay]

Here we are, Lupin.

That-- [is bigger in person, but Lupin catches himself before he outright says it. He caught the glance, and was curious about it's meeting, but knew he was smalltime in comparison that that it probably didn't amount to much.

Instead:]

That is very impressive!

"Yes, yes she is."

[Both Luke and Han beam at Lupin.]

Just like I said, Lupin. You can always count on this old pirate and the old bucket of bolts he calls the Falcon

"HEY!"

[Han's false indignation...makes Luke smile even more. He'd missed his brother in law, more than he'd cared to admit]

I trust a lot of pirates and a lot of buckets of bolts--but this pair looks especially trustworthy.

[His grin is boyish and filled with an almost child-like excitement. Space! The final frontier!

Oh, wait. Wrong franchise.

Lupin chuckles. For some mistake, this was far from the worst thing that could have happened to him.]

"See Luke, SOMEONE thinks I look trustworthy"

[Now Luke can't help but laugh, of course]

Well, its a big Galaxy, you old nerf-herder. It was bound to happen someday!

[Lupin can't help but join in the laughter himself, amused by the familiar reparte among men he had no real history with to know any of this.

It was a fanboy's dream. Why not enjoy himself?]

I'm also a little predisposed to trust pirates with rustbuckets, so my opinion probably isn't the best to go by.

Still. She's beautiful.

"That she is kid. Lets go for a spin. Since it seems you've heard of me, and Luke says you should get a ride."

[Lupin doesn't say that he knows Han from some movies, doesn't say that he shouldn't even be here. Instead, he grins.]

That...is gonna be awesome!

[thefinaljedi]

"Sure kid, c'mon in"

[The boarding ramp comes down, and both Luke and Han, as well as Mara and Kyle stride up into the familiar old freighter. This bucket of bolts had saved all of them more times than they could care to count. No small feat for an old YT1300]

[Lupin normally would complain at the moniker--he's in his mid 30s, not that much of a kid anymore, but looking around made it clear to him that Luke was telling the truth. Many years had passed since the Battle of Endor, and it showed.

Instead, he tries to suppress his glee. It was a ride. On the Falcon. In SPACE. Sure, Fujiko and Jigen would never believe it, but he felt that he had bragging rights over this.

He follows them up the ramp, keepin his cool as best as he could. The open, no-questions-asked trust that they had in Luke was indeed impressive if he'd recieved minimal questions and joy rides were available on request.

It was impressive. Very impressive.]
