[When she returns, she's a little pouty, but she's got a plate for her and Mithos in a hand apiece. The fish on his is just slightly burned—a little rough on the edge. Don't worry, though, because she took the worse-off one for the sake of manners. After all, she's the one who forgot to turn off the oven! Can't believe I did that, goodness.]

There you go! You like carrots, right? I remember you liked them... I'm not sure where from, but I remember!

[...Right back to normal, and maybe that's what he needs right now. It's strange to think that this is now normal, somehow. His voice carries the traces of tears, but he brings himself to speak anyway. It's alright.] Yes...that's right.

[................Well. Okay. It's...not such a big deal. She's already gone through so much trouble for him, and he could use these things perfectly fine when he ate dinner last night, so... After peering down at the chopsticks for longer than necessary, he tentatively picks them up.

[He practically throws the chopsticks back down onto his plate. He's not angry at her, and it's not really about the chopsticks at all. Turning his gaze away now, because he doesn't want her to think she's the reason he's upset. That would upset her too, right? ...It's dizzying to think that not so long ago he would have wanted to do everything to hurt her, when now he carefully tries to avoid it.]

[Even with the anger, she manages to keep a small smile, eyebrows furrowed in embarrassment.] I'm sorry! It's just—you were being cute, just now. I didn't know you weren't familiar with chopsticks...

[........Cute? What is this word 'cute'? He's still avoiding eye contact, but inhales, exhales, and then nods wordlessly. He doesn't know how she can just keep patiently marching ahead through everything...it really is amazing.]

[She walks over and leans in, gripping his hand and putting the chopsticks between his fingers in the right way; there we go!] See, it's really quite easy once you get the hang of it. The two middle fingers on your hands do most of the moving.

[He moves his fingers as instructed, and... Oh. That does make more sense.

Right now, he's struck by how motherly she is. This is how she always is but this morning the thought is so much stronger, and not just because of everything that happened the last week. It's still strange to see her like that, still confusing, but...he can let it be.

And now he'll very carefully try to pick up another carrot, with better results.]

[She smiles at that, taking her seat next to him and eating her burnt fish with her own pair of chopsticks, looking content and... relieved? Certainly relieved. Because as much as she's upset at the malnosso... having him in her company makes it easier.]

[He doesn't know what else to say. Words don't even feel necessary, even if he could think of something. He'll just focus on eating, and on her sitting beside him, and try to let the raw thoughts and feelings settle into the back of his mind.]
