Seems like it'd be a pretty helpful skill for a doctor. [grin] Hey, you've got the... what were they again? Filial spirits? How about getting your mind wrapped around those?

I have not had much luck with Nala, the healing spirit, before. Quieting my mind enough to hear her is not easy for me. But...it may be simpler, now.

[He's chewing on something on his plate his stomach will reason with, eyebrow perking.] Simpler now that you're not busy? I've tried to listen before, but I guess I'm still too grounded in Earth logic to really work it.

As was I. [She huffs a laugh.] No. The shift- after being a Jedi, or close to one, for a week; opening my mind to a filial spirit is not quite so strange a thought anymore.

Oh, right. The whole 'force' thing, and all that stuff. Better hop on that before your other memories get too fuzzy.

[He pecks at his food, quiet for a moment; his own memories are pretty fuzzy, too. Now if he could only make the most hideous parts of it harder to remember.]

Some of the basics are remaining quite clear, actually. It is strange.

[That along with the fact she was given quite a few notes and journals on whatever her alternate self had deemed useful made forgetting more difficult.]

At least there's some good that came from you being one with the force for a week. Hopefully everyone else had some sort of bright side to all that crazy bull.

One can only hope. [She lifts a shoulder and finishes her last bite of egg soaked toast.] As it is, many seem to be more in your boat.

For once I think I was lucky. I am now terrified of what that is going to mean for the rest of those that were effected by the same changes in shift.

... Mn. [He takes a drink and avoids that can of worms, because he really doesn't want to think about what he remembered of Panem.] They might have a bright side. If not... hopefully most people can find some sort of... something in the fact that none of it was their real lives.

Solace. Take comfort in the reality they have waiting for them- or the reality they have here.

[She mops up the rest of her egg with her bacon, chewing on it with a wince. Too rubbery. ]

...such as it is. [A beat.] How is your head?

Even my migraine has a headache. But I'll manage.

I was pretty gone last night, for a while. Made for an unpleasant wake-up call come morning.

Water, aspirin. I am certain this is not your first time at this particular...what is the phrase? Ah. Rodeo. Failing that I've found a massage at the nape of the neck and base of the skull along with the application of heat relieves much of the tension that exacerbates migraines.

[On the bright side of things indeed: Doyle smiles, this time very much a usual Doyle smile, even with the tiredness of his eyes. In fact, it's a teasing troll grin of sorts.] Does that mean you'll give me a nice massage, doc?

[That pulls a soft laugh from her. It's low, rough from a late night in an unfamiliar environment, but warm all the same.] That depends. Are water and aspirin failing to alleviate your symptoms?

[He raises his eyebrows, looking hopeful.] Maybeeee... Though, if you're one of those types who nearly break backs while you're massaging someone, I might say no. I'm trained for enduring torture, but that's just harsh.

Some discomfort is required for a deep tissue massage but; that is not what I am referring to, here. I can say this much with certainty- I have never had any complaints or comparisons to torture.

[Ha.]

Maybe it's a risk I'm willing to take, then.

Treatment is not offered on the count of a 'maybe', Sergeant Doyle.

Then it's a risk I'll be willing to take.

[unless i abort the mission and roll away with a kink in my neck]

[A snorted laugh before she rolls her wrists and shakes out her hands. Plate set aside she nods for him to join her on the sofa.]

Risk away, Sergeant.

[A beat, before he abandons the remains of his breakfast and flop down on the sofa. What's life without a few risks, amirite?]

No strangling allowed, either.

If I have managed to refrain from strangling Stark, Sergeant, I'm quite certain you are safe from the same.

[Adele shakes her head with a half smile and turns, motioning for Doyle to do the same.]

I promise I'll be gentle.

Doctor's honor?

[He smirks up at her as he turns, shoulders flexing under his shirt at the small effort. Your hands, do they even clasp all the way around. `_`]

Or else I'll cry and whine on the journal about how awful your massages are.

You have my word. Once given? I never break it.

[Those were...sizable shoulders. And she honestly had not noticed until now, though it shouldn't be entirely unexpected. She shrugs and rests her thumbs against the prominent knob at the base of his neck, fingers curling around the bulk of his trapezius. A beat and she slides her thumbs up along the ridges of his spine to the base of his skull, pressure even. Firm. Working out the tension, there.]

If you begin crying, Rick -[She rolls her thumbs back down, then works the muscle in small, tight circles on the way up. Her palms and fingers curl, clenching and releasing his trapezius in time with his breathing.] It will most certainly not be because my massages are awful.

[Despite his casual personality, he's a surprisingly tense person with tense shoulders. He breathes sharply when her fingers curl, unaware he'd been so wound-up until she kneaded his muscles.]

Damn.

[Not a curse of pain, but of surprise. A 'wow this is actually good' surprise that sinks him a little further into the sofa.]
