The Cultural Fair
Who: Everyone! Or as close to that as possible, please. \o/
What: The Cultural Fair
When: April 25th-26th, though the earlier set-up days (22nd, 23rd, and keeping everything dry on the 24th) are also encouraged to help get a feel for it
Where: All around the town square
Summary: Also here.
Rating: ... is this a thing?
Note: Booths can be labeled as separate comments! Just put [booth name] or something in the subject line so people can find top level comments easier. Work was probably started for it on the 22nd-23rd for labor purposes, sheltering things from the weather on the 24th, and the actual Fair is on the 25th-26th, so using any of those dates and figuring out where your characters are helping would be good. CHARACTERS ARE WELCOME TO TAG THE LOG FOR INTERACTING WITH OTHERS, NOT JUST BOOTHS, SO FEEL FREE TO TAG IN! Also a character who might not know what's going on is welcome to walk by and question it! And so forth.
I'll leave the descriptions up to you all as there probably isn't much that is too uniform about the displays, as everyone is encouraged to be creative about it. Think of it as something on a much smaller scale than the festival from a year ago, definitely, but how hard the characters worked isn't something I could define for each of you. That said there are plenty of unique sights, so enjoy browsing! Thank you!
(Also, please add your name tags!)

"I notice you didn't say much about the vampires."
Maybe I should have waited until he was looking at me to say that, but it was funnier this way.

W-Well vampires of one of the better known mythica in this region. I-I wanted to, um, show a bit more of a diversity when it comes to Romania. There's so many cultures and myths after all.
[ Transylvania is the center point for most vampiric myths after all. ]

I stopped and frowned at whatever was savaging my pants leg, preparing to nudge away a puppy or some-
... dragon.
It was a dragon. It was a tiny, scaly, fangy, clawy... slightly pudgy, and absolutely adorable little dragon.
Look. I'm a man, right? And men do not, as a rule, make undignified noises and coddle tiny adorable critters. It's just not done.
We're far too proud and masculine for that.
So while it may have looked like I got gooey-eyed and picked up the dragon and started scratching it behind the ears, I assure you, that isn't what happened.
In fact, I was applying an advanced sort of technique, well known for soothing dragons, that would ensure it would never be able to harm me. Dragons grow up big and powerful, y'know. This was pure practicality. Pragmatism.
All business-like.
And I definitely didn't make a little "Aww" noise. That definitely didn't happen.

[ His tone if firm albeit it lacks the sort of...anger to it. He really can't get angry at the baby dragon. Too cute. ] I apologize for that. He's never usually this wound up. I-I suppose it's all the people around. He didn't, ah, hurt you did he?
no subject
Absolutely precious, in fact.
Not that I would ever admit that. I put the dragon down with another little scritch of its nose- very important, that. Makes sure that it bonds with my scent. It's a vital element of the ritual- and turned back toward him.
"Ah, it's just as well. Where I come from, the Black Court- the vampires that hang out in Romania a lot- are damn near extinct anyway."

[ or so Helios believes. He knows now that vampires vary in how they act in other worlds and not every world has vampires quite like his own. ] Are there other types of beings in your world, aside from vampires I mean?
no subject
I chuckled.
"And that's just the ones I've fought myself."
no subject
Y-You've fought them? [ Ah. Another world like Giles' in a way. Helios can't say he's surprised though. ]
no subject
... Well, except the one time.
"And the Outer Gates refers to the channels one uses to summon things from the farthest reaches of the cosmos. Beyond even the realms of the Nevernever and the dream worlds, where reality itself is harmful to human life. Y'know, your basic Lovecraftian Horrors."
no subject
[ The outer gate's description gets a hm from him. ] I should hope no one has a-actually tried to summon or open up any such thing. Cthulhu...Nyarlathotep. Such beings are even feared in my own world.
[ Helios himself shudders a little thinking about meeting either of the two. It's a basal fear, really, but some beings are just not meant to be seen or met. ]
no subject
I chuckled.
"... And no, most people aren't crazy enough to summon beyond the Outer Gates. It's a violation of the laws of magic."
Of course, my late mentor and former adoptive father Justin DuMorne wasn't most people, so I'd actually beaten my first eldritch abomination by the tender and squeaky age of 17, but there's no need to upset the poor guy.
no subject
Oh thank goodness.
no subject
I shrugged.
"Besides, I do a pretty good job with my own allies of keeping the spooks and boojums away."
no subject
Do you ever think they'll be able to live together with humans in your world?
