Summary: It's that special time when the Malnosso collect all their recent experiments and apply them all at once to measure effectiveness. Although invaluable as research, it tends to leave the subjects looking just a bit mad.

So there is a mod post and it pretty much tells you EVERYTHING you need to know. This is a second log so people can change up their effects and try something new, jump into the event late, or just avoid the impending CAPTCHA on the first log.

[Watch where you step, Lucetians. There is a figure skulking about in the shadows around you.

Isamu has reverted to his pseudo-fiendish appearance. Except he's not a pseudo-fiend. There's nothing psuedo about it.

The lack of magatsuhi here also means he's hungry, and he may just try to zap the energy right on out of you. Watch where you go when you travel alone.]

Let's go with day 3!

[If it's negative energy Isamu wants, Richard's got that to spare, as Isamu likely already knows. And fortunately for him, Richard also isn't expecting to be followed as he makes his way home from Seventh Heaven, making him a very easy target...]

[Isamu follows Richard for a little while, a sense of familiarity keeping him from attacking him outright.

When he's sure there's no one else around, he comes up behind the man and snakes an arm around his neck without saying a word.]

[Richard just freezes at that sudden contact from behind, making no attempt to struggle at all despite the fact that his mind is racing and every instinct tells him to break away. He's too startled, and in the back of his mind are memories of the last time he was ambushed like this.

So he remains motionless, breathing hitching slightly out of fear. At this point, it's hard to say whether it's better or worse that he can't see who it is.]

[His other arm comes up now, covering Richard's mouth to stifle any screams. On his body, the dark eyes and mouths on the grotesque growths covering him light up.]

...This won't hurt for long.

[Now Richard starts at the recognition of that voice, but still he doesn't try to scream or break free. Isamu? What is Isamu doing, and why?

That remark about it not hurting for long certainly isn't doing anything to assuage his panic, either. Would anyone even hear if he tried to call for help?]

If you don't scream, I won't kill you.

Probably.

[And then he begins a slow drain on the man's life force.]

[THAT IS NOT VERY REASSURING, ISAMU. The only sound he makes is a slight muffled gasp when that draining begins, and then he just... relaxes, recognizing that feeling.

If that's what Isamu needs right now, he can have it.]

[The more Isamu drains him, the more aware he becomes of who he's dealing with. Because of this, he stops a little early.]

...I'm sorry for this.

[His voice is hollow, though. There's no real sense of friendship there.]

[Richard just gives a slight shake of his head and smiles faintly against that hand covering his mouth, though his head is spinning and his knees threatening to buckle beneath him. He's all right with it BECAUSE it's Isamu. There's no need for the other to apologize.]

[musubi]

[The fiend pulls away. Then, after a pause, he flips around to lift the other man onto his back.]

[ledbythewind]

Isamu...?

[That's about all he can manage once he's released, his knees finally starting to give way without Isamu holding him up.]

[musubi]

[Isamu doesn't answer as he begins carrying him back in the direction of their house.]

[ledbythewind]

[That's fine; Richard doesn't really need an answer at this point. Instead, he'll just wrap his arms around Isamu's shoulders for a more secure grip and bury his face in his friend's hair.

There's no logical reason for him to trust Isamu at all right now after that... but Isamu didn't kill him, even apologized for it. For Richard, that's enough. He can ask for an explanation later.]

[musubi]

[Once there, Isamu continues on to his room, dumping Richard on his bed rather than the King's.

He remains silent the whole time, and once he's done he immediately turns to leave again. He can't be in this house like this.]

Isamu.

[Despite his lightheadedness, Richard tries to lever himself up on one arm to look at his retreating friend. He may not mind if Isamu wants to drain his energy. but if he tries to do the same to Asbel or Cheria...]

[musubi]

[The fiend stops, looks back over his shoulder, but still says nothing.]

[ledbythewind]

[Richard opens his mouth as if to say something else, but the words get lost in a wince as he suddenly doubles over, curling around himself...]

[musubi]

[Isamu watches him a moment longer, but doesn't go back to his side.

After a while, he continues to leave.]

[The only thing Richard can do is reach out a hand towards his friend's retreating form in the vain hope that Isamu might come back.

But, at the same time, he isn't entirely sure he wants that either...]
