Event Log - Total Recall (2)
Who: YOU AND ME! THAT SPELLS... MOUYE?
What: More event shenanigans
When: Today until the 4th! (Backdating is okay too)
Where: All around Luceti. Actually that's wrong. Anywhere INSIDE Luceti.
Summary: It's that special time when the Malnosso collect all their recent experiments and apply them all at once to measure effectiveness. Although invaluable as research, it tends to leave the subjects looking just a bit mad.
Rating: Rated BLARGHARGHBLARGH
So there is a mod post and it pretty much tells you EVERYTHING you need to know. This is a second log so people can change up their effects and try something new, jump into the event late, or just avoid the impending CAPTCHA on the first log.
Don't forget to tag in using the appropriate format: [canon] character name

Day 10
[The thrust was unexpected, but his altered center of gravity is his advantage as he rolls out of its range. Her momentary pause is swiftly taken advantage of--he leaps to his feet and lashes out with his cleaver once more.]
Day 10
You've got first blood...maybe I am getting slow.
[With a soft snarl she leaps forward crouched low, sword slashing across to try and knock Viral's legs out from under him.]
Day 10
[It was a simple order, cut off by a low growl as her attack succeeds in wrecking his balance. He catches himself, claws scraping in the dirt, and snaps out a leg in a sharp kick.
She was getting slow, though. Maybe there really was some kind of Shift in affect for both of them.]
Day 10
Rolling as she lands she keeps crouched to the ground, catching her breath despite the growing ache in her side and the blood slowly trickling down. Drawing her sword up defensively she turns her head aside to spit out a glob of blood from where her cheek had caught on her teeth, making her smirk bloody. Don't think, don't think about anything except for this moment, this fight.]
Damn you and your big feet.
Day 10
Running out of insults all ready? That's a pity.
[There's a lilt of condescension in his tone, an echo of their previous battles and his earlier interactions with all humans. The distance kept the cavern-dwellers wary and fearful, and created an invisible barrier between their two species that still existed in a warped, twisted manner.
There was a flicker deep in his hard eyes, a brief flash of concern for her.]
Day 10
Don't you worry, kitten, I'm just getting warmed up!
Springing from her spot she brings her sword up in a diagonal slash, turning on her heel to carry her momentum forward in a sharp kick of her own.]
Day 10
That's more like it!
[It's a hoarse snarl that sounds over the fire as he rides the breathless haze, maintaining his wits enough to catch her foot between his claws before she withdraws. He swings, intent on throwing her into the brush.]
Day 10
[The rest of Sabbi's curse is cut off when Viral sends her sailing away from the circle of warmth from the fire, catching what felt like every single branch as she tumbles through the bushes and low hanging trees before skidding to a stop. Scraped and scratched she scrambles to her feet with a low grumble, glaring through the broken branches left in her wake.
Gripping her sword hard in both hands she gives a short cry as she twists to slash through the trunk of a nearby tree, the blade flashing as it sings through the wood. A firm kick sends it crashing down in Viral's direction before she dashes out from the bush to rejoin the fight.]
Day 10
[Impossible! Viral didn't have time to finish barking his astonishment before he had to dive away from the collapsing tree and into the brush. He should have known by that point that any dealings with a human that's awakened to their Spiral potential lead to impossible feats of determination and destruction. Even after seven years of wandering, there are constants that will never change.
The low branches snap under his weight, tear at his shirt with his momentum and send debris flying. Snarling, he hacks through the bushes with his cleaver, straining with his ears to hear her the crunch of her feet and her ragged breathing over the tree's dying scream and the roar of their fire.]
Day 10
Two heavy steps on the falling trunk of the tree is all the lead in Viral gets before Sabbi descends upon him, her sword flashing in the speckled light of the fire as she thrusts it down upon him.]
Day 10
His hand stays just before delivering the blow, the tip of his blade barely caressing her jawline. Despite the pain, his lips curl into an amused smirk.]
Who's the winner?
Day 10
That depends entirely on what you're fighting for.
Day 10
It was a blessing and curse of his immortal body--he would never die, but what was life without reason?
He huffs, torn between irritation and bitter amusement, and reaches up to wrap his free hand around hers. The motion drove the blade deeper, but the pain would be dealt with when it was time.]
We were fighting for the dreams that won't come true. Can there be a winner?
Day 10
[Sabbi frowns as Viral's hand closes over hers, her eyes flashing down to the blade sinking an inch or two deeper before back up to meet his gaze. It's hard to put a single name to her expression, her hard eyes flashing with regret, longing and an odd sense of affection as her hair shifts in the wind...longer than it had been a moment before. The sword buried in Viral's chest was disappearing and in its place she found herself gripping his hand tightly.]
So long as we have the strength to fight for those dreams, hopeless or not, we can win. If not for the world, then for ourselves.
[Sabbi stood before him now seven years younger, determined to hold on despite the Shift's effects slowing falling apart around her.]
Day 10
[The words take a bitter edge as he observes the machinations of the Shift for himself, saw it in her eyes and felt it in the trembling grip on his hand. He lowered his cleaver and dropped it by his feet--a loss was a loss--and closed his eyes so that he wouldn't see his own affection and sorrow reflected in her.
He gives her a bitter smile, understanding her words on an intellectual level if nothing more.]
That's what makes you and yours worthwhile foes...and what has made you a valued comrade.
[He wasn't going to forget. Not now and not ever.]
Day 10
[With those two words it seems as though a heavy burden has been lifted from her shoulders, the tension leaking from her as she squeezes his hand. Sabbi had never really had the chance to say 'goodbye' to anybody before and she could feel herself slipping further and further away. With a soft chuckle she has to lean up to press her lips against Viral's cheek, a bittersweet gesture that would have to speak for all of the things she wouldn't be able to tell him...even if he wouldn't be able to understand them. Leaning back she seems lost, her smile fading as the last traces of Sabbi fade away and leave Sabriel in her place, murmuring her last message.]
...For everything.
Day 10
He, too, never had the opportunity to say 'goodbye.'
All nuances of human interaction were just a few steps beyond his grasp at every encounter, and the brief but heartfelt peck Sabbi placed on his cheek was no different. He looked at her, a note of confusion in his eyes, but there was no time to voice his question.
Sabbi was gone; Sabriel remained.
Viral chuckled a little bitter and more than a little weary. These Shifts...no wonder the people of Luceti were disorganized.]
Sabriel. [He says the name softly, testing.] This is the first time we've met where you're tall enough to actually hold a blade.
Day 10
[Sabbi's clothing had shifted from the minimal but effective battle outfit back into Sabriel's usual breeches and blouse, however her blouse was dotted with patches of red as it seeped through the fabric. Everything felt so strange, just looking at the man brought a surge of respect deeper than she could make sense of, and a bone deep weariness.
She has lost something precious, more than she could name but she felt it as though a hole had been punched through her chest. That life was never meant to be hers, and Sabbi...felt like a vague impression lingering in the back of her mind, quietly watching.]
Day 10
Like he swore to carry Sabbi's, and that of everyone else faced by impending moonfall.
He glanced down at Sabriel mildly, noting the seeping wound and her fatigue. Tearing his gaze away, he set to work snuffing out the fire.]
Let's get you back. Your wounds need tending.
Day 10
With a wince, Sabriel leans against the fallen tree, wrapping her arm across her side to try and keep pressure on the wound as she waited for him. Her body ached and her head was swimming between memories that both were hers and were not, although the ones that occurred in the last week seemed to be more clear than the others.
Lifting her head a little too quickly she grips the trunk of the tree for support as she calls out to him.]
That's still your room in the House you know.
Day 10
[Because dealing with the stares, the questions, was more than his patience would allow for at that point. He kicked dirt onto the fire, snuffing out every last ember, and gathers his blade from the brush. They were simple activities, ones that he could let his mind stray to sorting out his thoughts with. His owm memories were clear, just jumbled--he would take a night sometime soon to sort through it all.
He faces Sabriel, eyes as distant as his body, and studies her fatigued frame.]
...can you walk?
Day 10
[Even though she had made the offer when she was Shifted, she saw no reason to take it back, not when she knew she could trust him. Of course she knew a lot more than she really should...like how she didn't need to ask about his injuries, no doubt they would have healed by now or in a couple more minutes.
Watching the embers of the fire die to mere wisps of smoke here eyes droop with the darkness closing in, jerking to awareness as he calls out from the renewed shadow of night. She was half tempted to just curl up on the beach and sleep but her body ached too much for such an idea.]
Honestly...I don't know.
Day 10
He didn't expect them to understand.
The tattered, discarded cloak is retrieved from the dirt and wrapped around Sabriel's slim shoulders in an easy swoop. Without waiting for further questions, Viral scoops her into her arms as if she were no bigger than a child.]
Just keep the pressure on and keep warm.
[His words are rough, but he doesn't need to say more. Sabriel was smart enough to figure out what to do next--she also knew who the doctors were in the village. Viral didn't have a clear idea yet.]
Day 10
With the night growing colder now that the fire was out Sabriel was grateful for the warmth of the cloak she found wrapped around her shoulders, about to voice a soft 'thank you' when Viral hoists her up in his arms without a word. The last time Sabriel had been carried like that was when she was five, when her father brought her across the Wall to live at Wyverley...and the unexpected contact brought a pale blush to her cheeks despite her aching side.
Following Viral's instructions Sabriel keeps one arm clamped across the wound as best as she can. She could feel it throbbing despite the pressure, and with an irritated huff she found herself cursing Luceti for its lack of the Charter. Even a small healing spell could close the wound and stop her from losing any more blood but...there was no point in getting angry over something she couldn't help. Leaning her head against Viral's shoulder as she flips through the pages of her journal with her free hand, murmuring as she looks for the proper page.]
Adele is a doctor, she'll be able to help.
Day 10
[It was the only advice he could offer. Even at full tilt, they were at least an hour away from the village proper--if Sabriel knew who to contact, maybe they could have someone meet them part way. He sets off at a swift but steady pace, retracing his path from the village to their little encampment. Sabriel was of no hindrance to him. Not with his tireless, immortal body.]
