Summary: It's that special time when the Malnosso collect all their recent experiments and apply them all at once to measure effectiveness. Although invaluable as research, it tends to leave the subjects looking just a bit mad.

[His face is still red as he tries to form his words.]

When? [She has to repeat it because quite frankly, she's not sure how to answer that!] Since... always? I'm pretty sure I was born a girl, Leon.

[O-- oh geez. The question actually makes him hesitate, and he blinks a few times.]

Well, yeah. As far as I know, anyway. [She laughs a little.] I thought we already got this out of the way.

[fellpool]

What do you mean? [He lifts a hand to his head, rubbing at his temples. He wasn't sure what to think anymore.]

We already talked about this when I got here. I'm a girl in my world and you're a boy in yours. Remember?

I really don't. [He scratches his head. So ... Claude was a girl, but from a different version of their world? After everything with Haruki and Haruhi, it wasn't like he couldn't reject the possibility--

I guess this place really is messing with your memories. [Because as far as she's concerned, they totally had this conversation already.] You're a boy in your world, but you're a girl in mine. I'm pretty sure I already told you about that.

[fellpool]

[He titters anxiously at how casually Claude comments on all of this.]

R-- really? You're serious? A-- uh, a world where we're opposite genders?

Yep. I thought it was pretty weird at first, too... [Even though now, it's weirder that Leon doesn't seem to remember this.] But I definitely couldn't make that up.

[fellpool]

[Leon chews on his lower lip worriedly at he tries to process this whole thing. Experiments that messed with memory were always tough to deal with, and it was easy to doubt what he knew when faced with a friend who thought something different.]

Geez... I guess if it's possible for something like this to happen with Haruki... [He takes a deep breath, as if that will help.] Sorry-- er, for reacting like that.

[Aww. She smiles brightly.]

It's okay, Leon! You don't have to apologize. You know how things go here! [She laughs a little.] Besides, I think your reaction was kind of cute just now.

[His face heats up at the way Claude smiles and laughs, and he tries to hide his embarrassment by ducking his head.]

It's all of these stupid experiment effects flying around right now. It's hard to keep track of everything going on.

[Gosh, Leon, why are you so precious?]

It's all right. I mean, at least we know it'll wear off sooner or later, right? I'm sure things will go back to the way they're supposed to be soon enough!

[fellpool]

[Girl or boy, it sure seemed like Claude was still Claude. ...Which gave way to an odd question that Leon can't help but ask.]

Sorry to bring this up again, but... Uh. Your name. It's really "Claude"? As a girl?

No, it's Marie. [It does kind of suck to have to be explaining these things again, but if he's curious, she doesn't mind. As she says this, she starts walking so that they can move back toward the village.] Marie-Claude. Claude's the part that just always stuck, I guess!

[Probably because she was known to be a bit tomboyish.]

[Leon follows after Claude, his curiosity and wariness apparent on his face even as he hangs on her every word.]

'Marie' is a nice name, too.
