Summary: Masaomi wanted to see his friends before the draft and ts' his birthday tomorrow. So he took the thing Mikado Announced and decided to make it on the day before to make it easier on everyone

[Well it's a "party" - Masaomi at least didn't plan for things like decorations or a cake, so there's just the video games, pool table, air hockey, and whatever else is normally here. If other people brought cake or food though, that's good! His message said that this was't planned (mostly because with is broke arm he can't lug anything and he didn't want to force that on Shikamaru. But yeah!! Let's... okay so it might not be the most enjoyable thing ever given the date, but let's interact!

I'll be making subthreads for gifts and food (the later because it's not supplied so people know what's there) but other than that make your own thread, mingle, mass log stuff ♥ If you character is a friend of Masaomi's assume he rang them about the date-change. Same for anyone who replied to Mikado's entry about it. If you want to crash it that's okay too, or say you heard from someone else or just followed someone there or... anything...]

If I was real ambitious, I'd make good on heading back to my apartment to give you that trinket. [A hum. He's still turned back to her before he walks a bit off to the side of the front door of the Rec Center and then turns to face her]

[It was a warm June night, and there was a nice breeze. Katara rubbed one arm with her other hand after the wind passed over them.]

It's your party, you shouldn't leave for so long.

That's true! I do have a lot of adoring fans!

[He crouches a bit for her, an awkward position given his cast, but he's doing that thing where he leans in an down towards her with his arm in a little bow motion. He uses the cast arm for that and the wrist with her bracelet he puts out in front of him]

[She's not paying too close attention to his antics, as she's become somewhat used to them. But she is watching him a little more closely than she normally would be. He must have asked her to come out here for a reason, and if talking him in to staying at his party wasn't it (and she doubted it) then... she hadn't the faintest clue what was. So she watched his eyes for cues.

And in response to his statement and casual space invasion, Katara rolls her eyes lightly.]

I don't know about that, but you did have a lot of friends show up.

It's true. I've gained a lot of those things you might call "friends" over time here, haven't I? [And he examines his bracelet again, still in the invaded space - bringing it between both of those faces] Including you, of course.

She reaches up to grasp his arm just above his wrist and lightly push down so she doesn't have to crane around his wrist to see his face]

That's right. Though I wouldn't call friends "things."

Also, she is starting to look mildly suspicious.]

[Asking if she'll be okay will be worthless. He already told he he'll try to make July better. As such] Speaking of "friends," though, I'll be doing all I can to ensure Shikamaru holds out here.

The suspicion washes out of her eyes and she holds his gaze.]

My current position doesn't afford me to make promises on that, but. [Well, he would shrug, but he doesn't. He sighs. He's pensive - his own eyes are watching her intently] As to Sokka-kun, could you give him a heads up about my injury for my lessons?

[She nods, quietly impressed at his consideration - she hadn't even thought of that.]

I will when I see him.

[If he's there, and all right, and he has to be.

She does pick up on his intensity, and it has her watching him again, though not suspiciously. He's not done, then. This isn't it?

Katara doesn't feel the need to push him. She's okay with waiting for him to work out what he needs to do.]

Good. There's little chance I can swing a sword like this, after all. [A hum] Eeeh, though I suppose my still being his student is presumptuous of me.

If he didn't want to teach you, he would let you know.

[But her gaze is drawn inexorably to his shoulder.]

Try not to stress it while I'm gone. The bone is still fragile.

[And now he leans in a little closer still, a smile playing at his lips] I won't! I wouldn't want to damage your handiwork that badly.

[Her gaze sliiiiiiiiiiiiides back to him.

Why are you getting closer?]

Good. I'd hate to come back and see you worse than when I left. [A small smile.] You're supposed to be getting better.

Haaah, I swear on this bracelet to my speedy recovery!

[Which, is emboldened by him holding up the arm with it on there. Most likely, he's made nurse comments when she's visited him as had been necessary. But he still appreciates it. And is fond of it, actually.]

[Again, the mention of the bracelet made lightly uncomfortable, and again, she rolled her eyes.]

Don't swear on the bracelet.

[And then she truly smiled at him.]

Just get better.

[Ah, instinct. It was an impulse - a mad one. But it is his birthday, he is "eighteen" even if he has been for a while and she's bound off for a war tomorrow. He's an injured dame waiting for her back home. He's a "friend" even though they both know that such a thing is a fallacy. He dips his head just a bit to the side and then mutters out]

Ah, I will.

[...You know what fuck it. He goes in to steal a kiss from her. It's very, very likely in his brain this'll be stopped out intercepted or something, but it's his birthday, she looks gorgeous, and it's just one of those times in his opinion]

[Masaomi has the benefit of surprise - Katara never, ever thought that he would try to do something like this. She'd already let him get quite close.

So by the time she'd registered the meaning of his quick movement and thought to dodge, his lips were already on hers.]

[How he would love to prolong this. He really, really would. But he can tell she's surprised (of course she is) and he knows he'll probably get flak for this but M ission A ccomplished. He pulls back before she can because he knows if she does it'll spoil the moment and then kisses his bracelet once he does pulls back]

[His lips were no stranger to hers, but this was the first time since Christmas that it had been truly them, for a moment, kissing - though she had been too startled to return the kiss and irrationally she's furious that he had ruined it like this, ruined their chance for a real kiss to be a real kiss. She didn't even know if she wanted to return it or not - he hadn't given her a choice. He'd just kissed her.]

[She took a deep breath, oddly fighting back the urge to cry, and hating the way her lips tingled.

Never? [His face comes into this expression as he stumbles back, looking dully at her. He was prepared for her to have a negative reaction,but never just sits poorly in his mouth]
