There will be a thread for interacting with NPCs, but they may not all go up at once, so keep an eye out for them.

Note: A log for the events in the village will go up on the 21st, in time for the hurricane and droid incursion.

23rd - Locked to Vincent Valentine

[Even the most brilliant of strategists can make mistakes at times. Jay had gone out scouting, but apparently the location he chose was a bad one. The Third Party cultists had snuck up on him. Luckily Jay had sensed them coming before they could sneak attack him, so he sprang into action. It seemed like an endless onslaught were coming just to take down this lone fighter. Jay moved as quickly as he could, hurling his exploding daggers at the distant enemies, and kicking the ones up close. But as more and more of them came within attacking range, his defenses were soundly penetrated. He took more and more hits until he dropped to the ground, running out of breath...]

[Vincent has been doing some scouting of his own, and he'd caught sight of Jay around the area not too long ago. He'd gotten sidetracked by some cultists himself, but after he deals with those, Jay isn't in the location he'd expected.]

[Noticing a battle nearby, he wonders... and then grows concerned. He hadn't seen so many in this area, so that alone troubles him. Such a sudden, unexpected attack can only mean an ambush. And worse, he notices a familiar figure, seeing him briefly before he loses sight of him in the crowd.]

Jay!

[He wastes no time, swooping in to start raining bullets on the attackers.]

[One of the soldiers attempts to tackle Jay from the front. He manages to keep his footing this time, flinging an exploding dagger at another who's dashing in from the side. Then two more tackle him from behind, driving him into the ground and pinning him down.]

[As the bullets rain down, the boy cringes, praying that he doesn't get hit. He can't even tell if the bullets come from friend or foe, so he'll play dead until he's sure.]

[It'll be a few moments before Vincent can get close enough to get in to Jay, so anything he can do in the meantime will definitely help him. This is a tough band of fighters- evidently if they're sending out ambush parties, things are escalating.]

[Still, Vincent keeps up the fight, darting and dodging enemy attacks, and firing back. There's another one down.]

[Still on the ground, Jay looks over where the fighting is taking place. He barely manages to catch sight of the red cape flapping within the crowd. Vincent?]

[Jabbing his dagger into the ground, Jay calls up a bolt of lightning to strike the foes standing over him. This allows him to get to his feet and start fighting once again.]

[Yes, it's definitely a much stronger band of fighters than normal, and even Vincent is getting a difficult battle out of this. Still, he isn't about to give up until he's got a way to get Jay out of there.]

[But he's not going to get them down any quicker like this. With a roar, Vincent gives in to the building need to transform. It's always easier than normal out in the battle areas, away from the village... and at the moment, it's needed. At least right now Chaos doesn't seem to be pushing, so he can take a form he can rely on better.]

[In a matter of seconds, Galian Beast has emerged in place of Vincent. The monster growls and throws off a few bursts of fire before rushing in to claw down fighters.]

[In the midst of his own battle, Vincent's fire catches Jay's attention. What was going on over there? He attempts to get out of the way, but more of the cultists stop him. One of them punches him hard in the gut, knocking the wind out of him. Jay collapses to the ground, not quite unconscious, but still incapacitated for the moment.]

[Galian is still going strong, tearing down another enemy with a roar. He shoots off more fire to drive more of them back.]

[He continues on like this for a moment, Berserk Dancing and Beast Flaring at enemies in turn. Of course, they're putting up a tough offense, and Galian takes a couple of hits in the process. He's now getting close to Jay's position... and the enemies are dwindling... another fireburst takes care of the last stragglers that he can see.]

[They're not entirely out of the woods, of course, and more battle sounds nearby cause Galian to perk up and listen. For a moment, he feels the instinct to run, to tear down more enemies... but the human side wins out in the end. He must get Jay back to safety. Galian approaches him and leans down.]

[And Jay is still crumpled in a heap on the ground, still breathing short gasps.]

Run...have to run...

[He mutters to himself in a small, pitiful voice. However, he can't straighten himself long enough. He'd need a few more minutes to regain his breath. But whether he actually had that much time is still a mystery.]

[The transformation won't last too much longer, and there's the issue of fighting with the more animalistic nature of the Beast. But Galian is also the most loyal of the four, the one most willing to work with Vincent. If he starts running now... he'll surely cover more distance in this form.]

[So Galian leans over to pick up Jay... and then starts off at a run.]

[Jay squirms a bit as he feels the strong arms picking him up. It could be an enemy for all he knows. But as he feels himself being carried away, he realizes that it's not an enemy. So he relaxes the best he could, sucking in the pain for this rough escape.]

[He just has to get to safety... if he keeps up at this pace, he's sure he can make it in good time for Jay's sake. At first, things go smoothly enough and he's going at a good rate...]

[Jay tries to peek behind, to keep an eye on the enemies. He also tries to rely on his ninja senses, which feel a little dulled at the moment. Was it because of these space suits, or because of his own pain, he can't be certain.]

[The transformation can't hold up forever, and so eventually he can't hold out any longer. Vincent pauses in his running as he de-transforms, the bulk of the Galian Beast reforming and shrinking back to human form. He adjusts his grip on Jay, and then picks up into a run... those sounds of enemies are getting closer...]

[At least Jay is small enough to carry, even in human form. This is one of the times where being small is an advantage. He could hear the enemies getting closer, and he cringes. At least he can feel their approach to the base as well.]

Hurry...

[Yes, they're just about there now. Vincent is trying to take a more evasive route, avoiding the sounds of fighting, knowing that would slow them down more than varying his path. He's narrowly avoiding it, and finally sees the base right ahead. He picks up his pace to speed along toward it.]
