Who: Anyone attending Nami's birthday party. /o/
What: ...Nami's birthday party. 8|
When: Evening on the 4th July.
Where: The mikan orchard.
Summary: An impromptu last minute stubborn celebration of something that's fun.
Rating: ...P for pinwheels? 8|a
[Tis a mingling post. Mingle! Seriously. The orchard's lit up, there is alcohol, there are snacks, there are mikan. There's also piles of coloured paper for much later, but that's another story.
Backtag to your heart's content. We apologise for contributing to the glut of birthday posts that is early July. |D Popular month!]

Absolutely. Is it something you can do right now?
no subject
Does it suffice?
no subject
Blissful. The hands too. [And just a hint of a leer there. Never let anyone doubt that he's really a pirate.]
no subject
Sip?
no subject
Ohhhh thanks! [Takes a sip before handing it back.]
So read any good books lately? [Hehe. This is also a deadpan joke because she must have read something, he's sure.]

I finished The Princess Bride, recently. I'm not one for fiction but it was interesting. The culture it comes from must value beauty over intelligence because I can't count the times I wanted to strangle Buttercup with her own hair.
no subject
That's one of my favorite books actually. [Slight blush because wow embarrassing.]
It's supposed to be a satire though so she's that annoying on purpose. To illustrate how idiotic so many romance and fairy tale princesses are. [Oh wait. Robin probably knows that. Is this her being satirical? You know for a deadpan liar, he's really bad at satire.] Because of all the fairy tales where the princess is completely pointless, just might as well be stuck off in another castle because she's just the vehicle they use to explain why the guy is there having adventures. As if adventures for adventures' sake weren't good enough.
But even starting off with the list of the "most beautiful women in the world" who wrote this list? Why? Did they really think it would solve anything? How did they know those girls were more beautiful than each other or not? How can that even be objective? Was it a poll? I mean, you've got everyone talking about Boa Hancock being the most beautiful, but how did so many people agree on this that it's just accepted as universal truth? In the Princess Bride though, it's all just a play off from stories like the Illiad where they went to war over a woman, just wanting her because she's beautiful. I kind of thought it was brilliant that Humperdink only wanted her to cause a war because she's beautiful. Best flip on it.
And Westley... [Laughs.] For a guy strong enough to ditch her to go be a pirate, he spends the whole time outdoing the whole world in languages, building up poison tolerance, becoming one of the top-notch swordsman all just in case she might like those things, not because he thinks he has actual use for them. And what does he do in return? Stops being wild and the way he loved her before he left and takes up interest in trying to be beautiful for him. He's not even there to see her so what does it matter?
no subject
Well, perhaps if he didn't want her to change, he shouldn't have left. That happens even now, you know. Men and women leave their loved ones [And children] to become pirates, marines, follow their own dreams and what is left for those left behind to do but to cope with the change. Perhaps even to the point where they must change themselves.
After all, how could she know how Westley cared for her and perhaps she only wanted to bring him back. Perhaps she was lonely.
[Robin has for the most part been self-sufficient but it's occurred to her in her past to change for others. For acceptance. For love. In the end, it had never been worth it]
no subject
[He's amused by her response to it though.] I guess, admittedly I can't relate to that thinking. [He's spoiled and got to travel with his father after all.] I guess so long as they have no regrets and they're happy with the changes in themselves. But I think if you change yourself to share interests, that's fine. I mean... ahhh I really like flowers extra because of Vista... but don't tell Ace or him that I said that. Ever.
But I'm not sure "makeup and things" counts as a shared interest to Westley's more rugged choices. Then again, he took up the extra languages just in case she might like it, so I guess they both were trying to do better for each other... it's still silly though. Just on purpose.
no subject
Perhaps it's not a shared interest but I'm sure that he enjoys to look at it.
[She is beginning to understand the sentiment, though, a bit perhaps. Expanding knowledge to please someone else. There is a certain charm to it.She goes back to braiding the tufts. She's about half done now]
Well then, Bird-chan, what should I read next?
no subject
Want to trade? I'll read a book you pick and you can read Moby Dick. [The one he pretends is his favorite, and is like 2nd favorite.]
no subject
I have no preference. Read something interesting and tell me about it.
[She shrugs]
no subject
At least tell me a genre I should go with.
no subject
[She thinks]
But...perhaps...if you wish to share...[and did he? She's still unsure] You can learn to garden with me.
no subject
Ah I see, if you're not really a fiction fan then I guess it'd be harder to like the Princess Bride... Heh. Well if you ever want a reading partner or company, I'll brush up on history and we can trade thoughts. If you'd like. [He wanted to make the offer, but after saying it he's getting nervous about it. He normally reads alone, so she probably does too? Still, he thinks it'd be fun to have someone to bounce ideas off of about stories.]
no subject
[She's done with your hair now. It's not a very good look for you, honestly, but she's amused so lets it be]
I wonder if it will curl if you keep it in.
no subject
That'd be interesting, but probably not. It tends to bounce back. [His hair is ridiculous like that clearly.]
no subject
Would you care to do mine? [Just to see what you will do]
1/2
2/2
Besides, it's not exactly my forte. [Even playing around, he worries he'd mess something up. And then Izou (his okama brother, 16th division commander who loves geisha style wear) would have to disown him. Horrors.] The most I'd do is stick on a blue cowboy hat. [Because it'd be adorable. Let him have his fantasies.]
no subject
Perhaps I will wear a blue cowboy hat. [Slight pause] and what else?
no subject
[This evil horrible grin alone should say everything. Something along the lines of a cowboy hat. And high-heeled boots. Yeah, that's about it.]
Oh you know, whatever's comfortable. [Nice save Marco.]

[You make his life so hard to keep PG woman. Not that the pirate minds, but seriously.]
no subject
Though preferably with less sand. [She finishes her drink and holds up her glass]
