What: ...Nami's birthday party. 8|
When: Evening on the 4th July.
Where: The mikan orchard.
Summary: An impromptu last minute stubborn celebration of something that's fun.

[Tis a mingling post. Mingle! Seriously. The orchard's lit up, there is alcohol, there are snacks, there are mikan. There's also piles of coloured paper for much later, but that's another story.

[Oh boy, it's another kid she recognizes!] Hi, Sabooo!

[And Vivi comes running over from...wherever she was.]

[You mean you can recognize him with his mouth stuffed with food?! Good thing he's polite enough to swallow first before grinning back. Yay other kids!]

Hey, Vivi!

I didn't see you before! Me and Ikki were playing hide and go seek tag for a while. Maybe you want to play too, later? [Yeah, there's a definite hopeful note there. It'll be more fun with more than two players.]

Er... I was planning on making pinwheels for the celebrant after eating... [Plus he feels he'd already outgrown games like that, but hey... Spending time with new friends is always good.

So he dusts bread crumbs from his hands and dons his hat, smiling.] But yeah, sure!

Oh! Can I help you make pinwheels? Nami showed me how! [She beams.] We can make a whole lot, and then play more hide and seek tag!

That's great! I, ah, kinda don't know how to make pinwheels. [Grins.] I know how to make other stuff like boats and birds though, so if you want, I could teach 'em to you too.

[Vivi's not exactly a pro, but she thinks she can manage well enough to show Sabo how it's done.] Okay! I'd love to learn others things, too!

[Vivi's no pro, yes, but anything she makes will be so much better than his, that's for sure.]

Alright! We better go get some of those papers! [And he'll snatch some more snacks they pass the food table, to have something to nom on while they work on their crafts.]

Okay! [She follows Sabo's lead, right down to grabbing some snacks on the way.]

I'm gonna make an orange one first, like Nami's hair!

[Snacks: checked! Papers: checked! Now, finding a comfy place under a mikan tree and plopping down.]

I'm gonna make a blue one first. [Pause.] Nami? She's... Luffy's nakama, isn't she?

Uh-huh! She's on Luffy's crew. It's her birthday party.

[Vivi gets herself settled, then begins to make her pinwheel, first folding it from corner to corner both ways, to make marks showing where to cut.] She likes pinwheels a lot, and maps and jewelry and treasure. Oh, and mikans.

Oh... So that's why there's familiar faces everywhere!

[Sabo watches her movements carefully and attempts to do the same to his paper.] She's the last of the crew I haven't met yet, but I've heard of her... So this is her place then? [Waving at the mikan orchard.]

[Vivi giggles, nodding.] Yeah!

[With a vague wave in the direction of the cottage.] She doesn't really live here, but she stays out here sometimes. [Like...during the big storm. Something about keeping an eye on the trees.]

[Looking down at her beginnings of a pinwheel, she realizes she's missing something.] Do you have scissors? We're 'sposed to cut it, along these marks here.

[No worries, Sabo grabbed two pairs along the way.] Here you go. So cut right there, huh? [Snip, snip.]

Hmm, the mikan trees must be really important to her then... This place looks really well taken care of!

Mhmm! [She takes the offered pair of scissors and begins to cut along the folded marks.]

I guess so. It's a lot for one person to take care of, huh? But I think she comes out here every day or so. [She has no idea of the special significance the mikan trees hold for Nami, but it is clear that she takes a lot of care with them.]

[Finishing up with the scissors, she lays her paper flat on the grass and begins to loop the sections over.] And then you fold it like this, see? But don't press too hard or you'll flatten it.
