Summary: An impromptu last minute stubborn celebration of something that's fun.

[Tis a mingling post. Mingle!  Seriously. The orchard's lit up, there is alcohol, there are snacks, there are mikan. There's also piles of coloured paper for much later, but that's another story.

[Hey lady. You have pretty hair, but more importantly, what are those things floating next to you? They kind of look like...ghosts. Vivi will be peeking from behind a mikan tree as she tries to figure it out.]

[Perona herself doesn't see Vivi from her hiding spot but one of the two hollows seems to spot her and arches in mid air, turning its head to one side and sliding out its long tongue from between its smiling lips. Another moment later, it begins to beckon Vivi over by waving its arms up and down, chanting a mantra of "ne-ga-tive!".]

[That seems...suspicious. But not exactly scary, like she'd expect a ghost to be. And they're with that lady, and she must be Nami's friend if she's at her birthday party. So it must be okay. FLAWLESS LOGIC.]

[Vivi edges out from behind the tree and starts in the hollow's direction.]

[Pretty soon, the hollow begins to twirl around its master (who is enjoying some mikan she nabbed from the trees) and Perona turns over her shoulder to follow the line of her hollow's sight. Oh, it's...a child. A familiar looking one at that. Perona wipes her hand on her skirt and stares the girl down, looking from her back to her ghosts, who're still beckoning in their usual way.]

...Oh! Were you playing peek-a-boo with my hollows?

[Vivi was so entranced by the beckoning ghosts that the lady's voice takes her by surprise.] Oh! ...kind of?

[She comes a bit closer.]

They're cute, aren't they? I've been told to put them away...but I think they deserve to have a bit of fun, too...if necessary.

[If she gets antagonized enough, she means. So far, though, Perona's only been lightly pranked, and been allowed to stay and partake of food and festivity alike. Her hollows are really just wandering about at her side like bouncers, or pets.]

Yeah! They are kind of cute. [A pause as she decides whether or not to ask the question mainly on her mind right now.]

Um. What are they? [They must be the pink-haired lady's pets, but Vivi's still not sure if they're ghosts or something else entirely. Can ghosts even be pets?]

They're ghosts!

[Said ghosts begin to circle around Perona, looping around her legs or one another. One actually arcs in midair and wafts toward Vivi, but Perona clicks her heel and it drifts back. The last thing she needs is someone seeing her hollows make a little kid miserable and get kicked out. Perona actually is enjoying herself.]

I thought I'd need them to keep me company here...but I don't think that will be necessary anymore. I've stayed this long, after all, and nothing's happened.

[The girl's eyes widen slightly, though in surprise, not fear.]

So they are ghosts. Are they nice?

[She wonders how exactly one goes about getting a ghost as a pet in the first place. Not that Vivi wants one for herself; Carue is enough for her. You might be able to play tricks on people and surprise then, though.]

[...oh right; she should introduce herself.] My name's Vivi!

Oh, yes, they can be very nice...but they can also be very neg--

[Whoa, whoa, wait a minute! Vivi? As in...Princess Vivi, of Alabasta? The very same Vivi Perona met when she first arrived in Luceit? Oh for the love of--...that's just her luck, isn't it? Perona twitches, holding her head as it begins to throb suddenly. Ugh...she's not a babysitter here. Can't one of the Straw Hats take care of the rugrat? Nnn, at least she's been good so far.]

P-Perona...

It's nice to meet you, Peperona. [Yup. That's what you get for stuttering.]

[Inching closer to one of the ghosts now.] Very what? What are their names?

It's Perona! Perona-sama!

And they don't have names. Naming my negative hollows would be too much of a chore. [Given that they all look alike, Perona can create and reabsorb them whenever she likes, and they they split apart so often to make more of themselves...it's just not worth it.]

Keeping track of them all is tasking enough sometimes unless I'm sleeping.

[Oh, oops. She hastily corrects herself.] Sorry. Perona.

[No names? That doesn't seem right.] But there's only two of them! ...right? [Still inching closer to one of the ghosts, and beginning to extend her hand carefully. What do ghosts feel like, she wonders. Vivi imagines something like cold mist, but maybe she can find out for herself.] I can help you think of names!

Wrong.

[And as Perona gently slaps Vivi's hand away from one hollow, it duplicates itself. The other does the same after a few second and all four hollows rise into the air, swirling through the branches of the mikan trees, passing through them completely.]

Now you see? They can clone themselves as much as they want! If I spent time naming them all, I'd grow old before I could ever finish! And I can pull them back into my body whenever I like, too! [Like so! Perona lifts her one hand - the other was on her hip - and the two cloned spirits reabsorb themselves into her palm.]

[As Perona slapped her hand away, Vivi had been about to assure her she wasn't going to hurt the ghost, but the protest dies on her lips, because suddenly there are more of them. She watches them weave through the trees in a sort of dance, eyes wide. It's not until Perona reabsorbs the two new hollows that Vivi realizes that these probably aren't traditional ghosts--that is, the spirits of the departed.]

Oh! Do you have a ghost devil fruit?

[It seems an odd sort of power to have, and she's more accustomed to zoans, but in retrospect, it seems obvious.]

Yes, that's right. I ate the Horo Horo no Mi and became a spirit woman. I can make as many ghosts as I want to fight for me if necessary. Of course, I can do more, but there's no fun if I reveal all my secrets.

[Perona giggles and sticks out her tongue then waggles her finger in Vivi's direction. Don't think she forgot how you were about to touch one of her ghosties, little girl. Princess or not, Perona's not about to be held responsible for anything stupid you may do. It'd probably be funny, sure, but she doesn't want to cause trouble this time around.]

But you shouldn't touch these, all right? ...Something bad might happen, horohorohoro~!

...oh. [Vivi's face falls a little; so much for that chance. She can't help but wonder what might happen though. Maybe ghosts are really cold? It couldn't be that touching a ghost makes you turn into a ghost yourself, right? No, she dismisses that almost immediately. In the end, it seems easier to just ask.]

What happens when you touch them? Do they get mad?

No. [For a moment, Perona thinks not to say a thing - why should she give away all her secrets to a little kid? And a friend of the Straw Hats, too? If she remembers and runs her mouth to them, something bad really could happen, to her! It' s bad enough a single one of them knows her powers in and out, but he's at least not here (thank goodness for him)! But then again, a kid asking a bunch of questions and pouting is no good either. With a frown, Perona finally answers.]

They rob you of your happiness for a little while.

[Vivi winces. She's not quite sure how that works, but it certainly sounds bad. M-maybe it's best to just leave those ghosts alone, then. For now, at least. She turns her attention back to Perona, noticing something that she'd only dimly registered before.]

Oh, you have a crown! Are you a princess too? [It seems a little strange to Vivi that she'd just wear it around on a casual basis, but...different islands, different customs.]
