So... meanwhile, back at the ranch, there were opportunities for those who have caught their journals to know who's coming, and those who have not caught their journals to be taken by surprise at the new Water Tribe member in the house.

[South Pole, so that's- oh wait.]

Wait. I'm not your grandpa or something, am I?

[She laughs a little.]

Haha, no. But Katara was my waterbending master.

[He glances over to where Katara is. Huh.]

Weird... [He shakes his head.] So you and Aang share the same teacher. [Why does that remind him of-] Oh, you know, Aang and Roku shared an airbending teacher too.

Yeah? That's actually pretty cool.

Yeah. Roku and Aang did this whole... backstory thing. On some island. It was pretty boring for us waiting on him the entire time. But he gave us the full story after. [Oh wait. Roku is here, so that makes it confusing.] It was a Spirit World thing. With, you know, dead Roku. Not teenage Roku.

Yeah, I get it. [She's never done it before, but she knows the idea.]

[And he's already more experienced at being in the Spirit World than her!]

Yeah. That's just... one of those Avatar things. Spirit world. Talking to your past selves. [An awkward pause and then he notices her soda. Oh right.] You have to pull the little metal tab on top to open it.

[Don't rub it in.

Korra cocks her head a little, staring at the top of the can. Her thumb sits on the potential opening, while her index finger presses its way under the tab. SHHHHKKKT! The can gives way suddenly, and her thumb becomes covered in soda. She looks surprised.]

Whoa!

[Oh. Whoops. Maybe he shouldn't have thrown it.]

Uh. Be careful. Don't shake it first.

[It didn't bubble up too much, but the sudden opening really caught her off guard. Now she's bringing the soda up to her mouth to loudly such down the foam that overflowed.]

[Wow. Sokka gives her a flat look of "wow I can't believe you're doing that", then decides it's not a big deal because Toph is way worse. So.]

Like it?

[She pulls her face away from the can, grinning a bit. Korra's upper lip is wet from what she did.]

Yeah, it's a lot better than the stuff we had. [It's not so bitter.]

[Satisfied as he is, he can't help but quip:]

It's depressing to think that seventy years of innovation later and we never manage to make a decent soda.

I guess they were too busy with the Satomobile.

Oh. Right. Those are your- our version of cars.

[It was weird. Finding out about all these developments in their own world, that he'd already read about or heard about from others.]

Well... there's also the Cabbage Car too, I guess.

... Cabbage Car? For what, cabbages?

No, a car from Cabbage Corp.

Why would a cabbage company make cars?

It's a technology corporation, named Cabbage Corp. Not a cabbage company? I don't know too much about it.

Weird. [He's going to sit at the table. She's welcome to do the same.] So. This is pretty weird, isn't it?

[She grabs the back of a chair, spins it around, and then sits down. Korra leans forward on the back, folding her arms over the top.]

More than a little.

When I first showed up, it was just Toph. So it was weird, but not in a 'meet people from your past' kind of weird.

Yeah, I heard that's a new thing.

Well, for us at least. I've heard it happen to others. [A shrug.] I know we're all probably famous and super important in your time, but you should relax. We're all basically the same age around here, right?
