Beach Volleyball Tournament

What: Volleyball Tournament
When: July 22nd, 11am onward!
Where: The Beach!
Summary: Fun in the sun and a bit of competitive spirit! If you signed up for the volleyball tournament, be prepared to rock the house down against the opposing teams! Just there to watch? Enjoy the seats around the volleyball courts as a spectator and have a refreshing drink or some beach-side snacks! SWIMSUIT REQUIRED for everyone there. If you're found by someone in charge without one you may or may not be subject to getting mysteriously kidnapped and put in one, human or not. That's right, even chihuahuas if there are any have to at least have a cool straw hat and sunglasses.
Rating: PG-13. Please try to keep it PG-13 max and warn in the subject header for anything iffy!
When you first arrive, there will be a huge board with the brackets for the tournament on it:



{{ ooc: All of the brackets were totally randomized using RNG on random.org. Unfortunately, I don't have all of the muns memorized so if I put your character against another one of your character, PLEASE let me now ASAP and we can get that fixed! If there are no replies to a match within one week, that team will be disqualified as having not showed up, just so that we can keep going. After the first week, it will be 3 days. (The first week is to account for Otakon, since I know a lot of people are going to that.) }}

After you pass the sign, there are multiple volleyball courts set up, ref towers, lots of beach umbrellas and towels set out on the sand for viewers, and waiters and waitresses handing out drinks to anyone who comes by, courtesy of the local bars. Alcohol will only be available to those who are 18+. It's hot, too, so make sure you don't forget sunscreen!

[Shirahoshi's reserve of "I'm coming up and talking to you" courage is running low (most of it spent in actually swimming over to him), so do excuse the bright blush and ridiculously quiet voice.]

[A giant shy mermaid, at that. How peculiar. Maybe she's part whale? Is that even a thing?]

If you mean a sea serpent by Seaking... [Though he's not sure how closely related to those his kind would even be!] I am a dragon, my dear. No need to look so sheepish. I don't mind being asked.

[She looks alarmed for a moment, then confused. In her world, the only dragons she knows of are Celestial Dragons- a particularly dangerous faction of human nobility who covet mermaid slaves.]

You um. I mean, you won't capture me, will you?

[She's still getting used to this idea of "other worlds", too.]

[Well, now they're both confused.]

Capture you? Why would I ever do that?

Well, there are some people who want to make us slaves... and... they're called Celestial Dragons.

B- but you're just a normal dragon, right? S- so maybe that's different...

[Well, that's a name that gets a snarl of distaste on Draco's face.]

Celestial Dragons? Taking slaves? What an insult! These dragons are not true dragons, are they?

[weakahoshi]

Um, well. I mean...

[Tears are welling up in her big blue eyes.]

I'm not really sure, actually. I only saw one but... but I think he looked like... m- more like a human...

[merelychewed]

[The snarl drops almost immediately when she starts getting teary-eyed. Scaring her had not been his intent. He looked at her, a bit startled, then around them, as if trying to find someone around that might have a better chance of comforting a crying person...

Of course, there isn't anyone else, so it's left to Draco.]

Er. Hrm. Now, now, no need for tears. It's alright. It sounds to me like they were only humans using the name. [A small relief.] Dragons only kidnap and steal people away in children's stories, but it is not something we do in actuality.

[Shirahoshi sighs, more a squeak, relieved. She wipes the bit of moisture from her eyes, but feels proud of herself that they never fell.]

What sorts of things do you like to do, Dragon-sama?

[That's better. Making girls cry isn't something Draco cares to do, even if they're strange mermaid girls!]

Things I like? Well. I think I've taken a liking to warm summer beaches. [They're certainly warmer here than they ever were back home.] Flying, of course. Sheep are generally nice, too, but I believe I've only seen cattle roaming the grounds of Luceti... That's a shame.

I like the beach too!

Um, but... what's a sheep? And a cattle?

Aah, they're... [Draco reaches back to scratch his neck as he tries to think of how to describe them.] Land animals. One is bigger with horns. That's a cow. The other is smaller and has a fluffy coat of wool. Humans raise them for their meat.

[weakahoshi]

Oh. In my kingdom, we eat a lot of fish! Do you like fish, Dragon-sama?

[merelychewed]

I do indeed! [Or he's learned to like it, in any case.] I can find fish large enough to suit me in the deeper water on occasion.

[weakahoshi]

So you can swim, too?

[To say she looks excited might be an understatement.]

Of course. I can't say I swim as well as someone born to it, but I do well enough.

[weakahoshi]

Maybe one day you can come swim with me!

[And then she lifts her hand to her mouth, shyly.]

Um. That is. I- if it isn't too much bother...

[What an amusing girl...

Draco rumbles a chuckle and grins at her, even if it is a rather, uh, toothy grin. He can't really help that part, alas.]

I surely spend enough time in the water, so I do not see how it would be a bother at all. Of course I can find time to swim with you one day.

I'll help you find some really big fish to eat. It'll be like a picnic!
