[Its a random issue of Fantastic Four circa the early 70s, nothing special. It does feature Namor though, if Steve's payed attention to the rumors]

Lava? Whats the deal there?

Pepper, you care for him, but to me? Stark is an ass. [She shrugs, unrepentant.] And to him I am little better. It's an imperfect system, but it works.

[With that Adele stands and sets her coffee mug aside, walking over to the hole in the wall to pull the tarp free for Pepper's use.]

[Except that's been Pepper's trick, and she's definitely not going anywhere right now. Instead she sits up straighter, peering at Tony as she tries to figure out just what she's missing.]

I'm here now. Tony. Talk to me. What's going on?

[Sure let's go with that. Sneasel's arms are significantly safer than some tall guy's arms, so he'll let himself get plucked off.

Obtained one BABY SILVER! Fresh from on top of your ceiling fan.]

[Apparently he can frown even more, because that's what he's doing now. Right down at Silver. Then he curtly turns and continues to walk the way he'd been heading before.]

Fine. [At least this Silver doesn't say a word. It makes it easy enough to just ignore him if he tries to keep following.]

Funny thing--heard a tree say you were pregnant today.

That's one way to broach it. And maybe she'll be distracted by this. It's kind of...distracting. After all.]

Fair enough. [Pepper sets her own mug aside, then stands and follows after Adele.] Thanks again. I'll get the robe back to you as soon as I can.

[Which turns out to be immediately after she leaves; the robe stays behind, leaving Pepper with just her towel wherever she ends up next.]

The Welcome Center, believe it or not. I should have looked before just rushing in.

[Grune, hearing someone fretting, looks left and right, trying to find them. It doesn't occur to her to look down for a little while, but when she does, she kneels down beside Fattycakes.]

Moh, y. Are rou all yight?

[Kain nods moodily. He's willing to at least attempt it, even if it might not work how they think it will. Going places seems pretty much impossible right now.]

Day 3

[But at least they'd be together. With their luck, they'll make it to the place, go through the door, and end up somewhere else completely.]

Yeah, I kind of got that. [It certainly wasn't anything like his home.] How often do these Shifts happen?

[And Pepper's on her feet, because hey, she's heard a few things the trees have said too.]

Oh my God. Tony, why are you listening to the trees? They're worse than tabloids!

Grune doesn't think in at all strange that Leonhardt is randomly asking such a question. Why wouldn't he?]

Know her? [Okay, laughing a lot now.] She's my Angel--though I came up with calling her Dellie back in February. The only reason I didn't go with 'Del-chan' or 'Deli-chan' is because she's French and probably wouldn't appreciate it.

[Steve doesn't pay much attention to rumors and isn't about to start either. He does find the comic interesting though, and wonders if maybe this place has something similar about him.]

Oh, I didn't mention it? The floor of our apartment turned into lava the day the Shift started. It doesn't affect the furniture or anything, but it's too hot to walk on.

[Kain shakes his head.]

They're a nuisance and they mainly talk about one thing... Grune? Are you all right?

Are you...going to be alright? That is a lot of pudding.

[She asks, not out of concern, but more out of morbid curiousity. What a weirdo. But she settles in to watch]

[Suddenly that makes a disturbing sense of those words. Kain nods, then looks startled as the tree speaks up again. It seems to be purposefully enjoying tormenting him now.]

Guess what? Kain's wife has to pick out his clothes because he has no sense of fashion other than armor.

Day 2

[He hesitates for a second before accepting the shirt and pulling it on over his head.]

Okay. You ready?

[Okay, well, this is a different direction. That's something.

Not that it's particularly good direction. He's opened up a can of worms, here, clearly. Her dismay calms his worries, though. She wouldn't outburst if it were true. Right?]
