[Hand in hand! They go through. And. And. And.

It's another room like the one before. Just bigger and somehow more mysterious. With the sounds of something creepy and crawling in the ceiling.]

... my victories keep feeling progressively more hollow. Just like my giant stone head.

[Katara just holds her torch higher.]

Do you hear that?

[It's creepy. So she should probably let go of his hand but. It's creepy.]

[markofthewise]

Yeah. [He's not exactly letting go either. He's concerned. They're tiny and who the hell knows what's in here?] It's in the ceiling... Somewhere.

[But. He can't see it. It must be above them. Which somehow makes it worse.]

[markofthebrave]

[This is seriously creepy.]

Do you see another door?

[markofthewise]

No. It's too dark in here. [And these torches aren't carrying enough light. Ugh, if only he'd brought a flashlight.] I guess we'll uh. Need to check the other side.

[markofthebrave]

[...walk across the open space with that creepy sound above them? She thinks not.]

Let's stick to the walls.

[markofthewise]

... that seems wise. Let's.

[He'll lead on, to the right. Because the mechanism was on the wall last time, right? So they should check for that kind of stuff.]

[This is the point where Katara makes herself drop his hand, because if they get attacked by... anythikng... they both need to be ready. She shifts the torch into her less dominant hand, and as she does, catches a glimpse of a freaky shadow, which quickly disappears in the scuffling.]

Did you see that?

[markofthewise]

[Sokka for his part has his torch in his left hand as he runs his right along the wall. Unfortunately, he turns too late to see anything.]

No. What was it?

[markofthebrave]

I'm... not sure. A shadow of something.

[She wants to hurry them along, but finding an exit is more important than just... going faster.]

I don't like this place.

[markofthewise]

[He believes her. Especially since he realized that them stopping... the creepy noises above them did too.]

Neither do I. We need to keep moving.

[markofthebrave]

Okay.

[But she really, really doesn't like this. And the scuttling sounds increase as they move along, and she doesn't see any sign of a door.

...as the tension and fear mounts, Katara starts getting annoyed. She lowers her voice.]

Sokka - how bright can you flare with Hyt?

[If he lets that loose while they're in there, they can get a good look at who's following them while the things following them will still be blinded from the flare and decide where to go from there.]

[markofthewise]

I think I can make it bright enough to blind me for a few seconds.

[He never does, because he can't see after it. But, he has an idea to get around that.]

Get in front of me, back against me. I'll close my eyes and set it off. That way you can see everything and I won't have my eyes go all weird on me.

[She really, really doesn't like this. But she moves to comply.]

All right, I've got it.

[markofthewise]

[He closes his eyes and then holds his hands out. This takes a bit of concentration, which is why he needs her to do this. But after a second to focus, he releases a flash of blinding light.

Spiders. Spiders everywhere. And the creatures may be blinded, but they are aided by more than just sight. And they're angry now.]

What do yo see?

[Oh, that is not what she wanted to see. There are at least two dozen of them, all the size of her forearm or slightly larger.]

Spiders!

[She reacts instantly, slamming water up instantly with enough force to squish the spiders that linger on the ceiling, but other spiders scatter, both to the side of the ceiling and down the wall towards them.]

[Spiders!? Sokka tosses the torch ahead of him. It creates a barrier and casts light. So too, does lighting up his sword with Eferine's fire. When they come jumping at him, Sokka is able to slice cleanly through them.

But with so many of them, their best bet is staying close to each other. The cave wall has their back for now.]

Spiders. I hate spiders!

Torch!

[Up and over to his left. If he lights it, then she won't have to worry about carrying her own fire.

Withdrawing her water from the ceiling, her speed is slightly impaired by bending one-handed even as she morphs it into ice spikes, aimed for the spiders crawling down the wall.]

[markofthewise]

[Sokka is no firebender, but he's able to hurl a burst of flames that way. Enough to light it. Though it throws him off for a second and a spider latches onto his shoulder. He quickly rips it off and then crushes it with his boot.

Another one comes flying towards him and he sends it flying as his sword hits it with the flat side of the blade. They're thinning the numbers, at least. There can't be that many more.]

[They are doing an admirable job clearing off the several foot-long-spiders when, from out of the darkness, crawls the mother spider. It is nearly half of Katara's height.]

Sokka--

[And she doesn't hesitate, but - oh that is disgusting -rips a slice of sharp water up through several of the babies and towards the mother.]

[markofthewise]

... mommy. Of course.

[Mommy may be half Katara's size, but that's just in height. In overall size, it's as big as they are. Maybe bigger. And with insect strength, stronger too. Sokka manages to off another baby spider before he puts himself between his sister and the mama. He manages to get a few cuts in, but she's too big and too fast for him to remove any legs. And she's advancing on him.]

[markofthebrave]

[Yeah, well. Maybe this ice will slow it down, since she's moving now to freeze it to the ceiling. That should take care of at least half its legs - fortunately she's used to fighting people a lot faster than she is.]

[markofthewise]

[This looks like a job for boomerang. Rather than try to risk stabbing it before it breaks free, Sokka sends his boomerang flying. It shatters the ice, and the legs in them, and sends the creature falling to the ground, upside down. Even missing some legs, it will take a moment for it to right itself.]

[markofthebrave]

[Right, good. So she can take the water from those served legs, turn it into ice spikes, and hit spider on its side.]

[All that's left is to finish it off. Which Sokka does as he drives the sword through the spider's head.

The tiny spiders, realizing what happened, start to scatter in fear.]
