Player Event - Chaos Plot
Who: Helios and pretty much everyone who replied to this post
What: The demon god Apep which affixed itself to Helios’ soul has awoken.
When: August 6th-9th
Where: Starting around house 44 then mainly around town and the woods
Summary: Basically Helios gets possessed and causes all sorts of chaos and destruction that the evil god, Apep, is known for causing!
Rating: R for lots of violence
[ It’s strange how the twist of events of a simple evening walk could change much of everything. In an instant, that was Luceti’s way of things, changing things in an instant. And Helios never even saw it coming. There were still parts of that night and parts of his soul that he never truly understood. But there were always ways of finding out. They say hands on experience is one of the best ways of learning. And this is a lesson he and several others won't soon forget. ]
((ooc; Okay plot is a go! If anyone doesn’t have an out for their character to be saved please PM me or contact me on plurk at pathogenic~ Otherwise have fun!))

August 8th | Western Lake - Twilight [WARNING - graphic content]
Sabriel was aiming to make the strongest Lesser Dead creature available to her in the enclosure; a Mordicant. Normally the ritual involved human blood and bog clay...but with an immortal beastman’s blood and spirit, who knows what could happen. Perhaps the mystery of his body’s make up would enhance the effectiveness of the ritual? Or even make a stronger beast than has ever been crafted by a necromancer? Only time would tell...and if it didn’t work then there was no real loss. Viral would be returned to Life in a week and Sabriel would have found herself a new playmate by then.
Aside from the necessary spells murmured under her breath and the odd command for Viral’s obedience Sabriel works in silence, barely giving the suffering beastman a passing glance while she works.]

Taking her time, she had prepared a special trap for Sabriel should she try and leave the vicinity. Throughout the forest, she had placed Shinto wards, an inward facing magical circle that would bind the tainted Abhorsen inside. She wouldn't escape. And this time the spiritual soldier had the tools required to perform the purification rituals that would undo whatever was done to Sabriel. Ofuda scrolls inscribed with words of power, a consecrated vessel for the corruption, and an iron will were the tools she needed.
And should that fail? Then Sabriel would die. In her corrupted form she was too dangerous to let live. With Ami kidnapped, and Usagi in the dark for now, it fell to Sailor Mars alone to be a guardian and protect the Princess. She cared for her new friend, but her duty to Sailor Moon transcended life itself, their souls bound forever by the magic of the Moon Kingdom.
At last it was time, the Senshi stoically heading into battle, arriving at her ritual site. The stench of blood and corruption assaulted her senses. Sabriel was here. Commandingly, the Senshi shouted]
Come out, Tainted One! I've come to stop you. In the name of Mars and the Moon, I will punish you!

Her urn rests on her shoulder and she stands tall but not with tension. Her wings, normally slightly spread to catch sunlight and breezes, are folded against her back.
They're going to save their friends. She and Mars won't let them be hurt anymore.]

But this, with barely a word spoken, had violated that. She had broken code that he held close to his core, corrupted or not. She had bound him fully, violated his home, and the intent to kill tainted her scent and her eyes.
This wasn't Sabriel. Not the one he knew.
The scent and taste of his own blood was maddening. He had faced defeat, but never in such circumstances. His immortal body, a gift from the Spiral King, was never meant to be used in this fashion. He still needed to breathe, still felt hunger of a sort.
...it was to keep him on the level of the humans he was to watch and warn, he realized in a deep part of his mind.
Whatever it was that Sabriel was making, it wasn't benign. The cold darkness in her eyes showed only malicious intent, and it disturbed him to the bone. This, he knew, was why the humans of his world needed to be contained.
Would that he could move. She wouldn't stand a chance against him.
He felt rather than heard the women enter, clued in solely by the subtle diviinty that Mars held about her person. She had company, he knew, but couldn't will his body to move--
A sneer curled his lips at the righteous threat, and can't bite back the commentary. His voice is low and hoarse, roughened by the time.]
I warned you before; now you're really going to be burned!

Her shoulders stiffen as Rei calls out to her from nearby, a bead of sweat gathering on her brow as she inwardly curses the other young woman's persistance and tracking skills. She must really be tired if she couldn't have felt her coming. At Viral's quip she glares at him, eyes cold as she stands.]
We shall see.
[Gripping her sword in a tight grip she exits the hut, even more surprised to see the other woman accompanying the soldier. She tips her head to both in greeting, her voice cold as she watches them carefully.]
Hello Mars. Grune.
no subject
Release Viral. Now. Its no use running.
[As she borrow's Mercury's words, Mars draws on her flames, and on Eferin, combining them into a powerful spell. If the other Senshi couldn't be here, that was fine. She would free the beastman herself. Her right hand raises high into the sky, and around the battleground a cage of flame formed, hemming them in from all sides, top to bottom]
Surrender now, and let us purify the taint within you.

Despite the impression of innocence that she gives, in her time in Luceti, she's seen a surprising amount of violence and cruelty. She's been on two drafts, has fought alongside Chaos--not the god of chaos controlling Helios, but the monster within Vincent Valentine. She's seen Grell at her worst, her chainsaw ripping through the body of a vampire unable to die. She's even killed, not only monsters but soldiers in both this world and on the Legacy.
But that violence has been the exception for her, not the rule. This is very nearly beyond her understanding.
When Mars finishes speaking, only then does she look up from Viral. Her voice is soft and sad as she offers just one sentence:]
Please let him go, Sabriel.
[But...there's strength beneath her gentleness. She will fight, not only to save Viral, but to bring Sabriel back to herself.]
no subject
I will not.
[Growling through her teeth she springs into action, heading for the warrior of fire first. As far as Sabriel, Mars was the heavy hitter here...then again with such high stakes it seems odd for someone so friendly and aloof as Grune to be here as well when the stakes were so high. No matter, as soon as the fire cage was down she could take care of the other woman and continue where she left off.]

Mars skipped sideways, hoping to get Sabriel's back to Grune, her hands working in a series of arcane patterns. Flames formed on her fingertips, tendrils of heat snapping out to attack, nipping at Sabriel's sword hand, feet, and exposed flesh like crows nipping carrion. The Senshi was aiming to hurt and enrage, a mirthless look in her eye.]
You don't want to do this, Sabriel-san. You can't beat me.

As the whips of flame dart towards her she brings the sword up in a slash to defend herself. It's not a bad defense, but not impenetrable; a burn over her wrist, across her cheek manage to break through.
Focused on the exchange of blows with Rei it is a moment too late when first Sabriel senses the power gathering behind her. With her attention split between this new threat and the onslaught of fire from Rei her hold over the beastman is starting to slip.]

No. It was his own frustration. He had made a promise, and he intended to keep it.
Without the sharp bite of Sabriel's blade impeding his body's perogative, he felt more able to think. His vision started to clear, slowly. Like all things in Luceti, the healing of his immortal body was sluggish by its usual standards. It would take time but, like with the burns, it would heal.
He clenched his hands into fists as he tried to fight against the magical bindings, willing deep in his mind for something to break. He was out of words and condescension, but he had his fists.
If only he could stand...
The fist clenched tighter, sharp claws digging into his palm, and that was when he realized--
He could move his hands.]
no subject
You'll have to do better than that if you want to even touch me, Abhorsen.
[Keep her taunted, off balance. That was the plan. Mars gloved hands snapped, a spray of small fireballs blasting towards Sabriel, exploding all around her. Not aiming for a killing blow, but irritating and weakening...trying to get her to commit to her own defense.]
no subject
[Damn it, the soldier was using her flames to corral her into a figurative corner. If the heat constantly darting for her face and hands wasn't enough those exploding fireballs were both painful and blinding. With a snarl Sabriel takes her chances and dives towards the fire and their source, fog sword slicing through the nearest explosion as she breaks through the wall of fire and runs to close the distance between herself and Mars, her sword held high.]

[But in her concern for her friend, in focusing on doing no more harm than absolutely necessary, Grune did not consider that it might not be wise to use a Curse element spell against a practitioner of black magic.
An orb of dark light as wide as she is tall spins into being around Sabriel, swallowing her and only her--Mars and Viral are perfectly safe thanks to the friend-or-foe marking Grune has placed on them.
Before she begins casting again, Grune waits for the dense darkness to fade so she can see the effect her spell has had on Sabriel.]

A dim figure, long and serpentine uncurls from around her shoulders with a soft, angry hiss. It's a low sound, almost inaudible except as a vibration in the air but the hate it exudes is clear. One moment the force of both of the women's spells are overwhelming her and the next...]

Was that supposed to hurt? Let me show you how it's done.
[Her voice sounds raspy and harsh, less human as the Free magic grows inside of her, fed by the corruption. Smoke pouring from her lips as speaks her spell she draws her sword in a circle around her head, a ring of dark fog lingering in the air before she finishes the spell with a slash of her sword; dark tendrils shoot from the dark halo like spikes, aiming for the two women.]

With a snarl he pushed himself forward at the sounds of fire and the scent of battle. The heated ions in the atmosphere and the associated memories sharpened his senses...he recognized that dissonantly calm voice amid the chaos.
Grune.
Grune and Mars.
Another snarl. Viral snatched his bow and a handful of bolts, intent on making his presence known. This needed to end. Now. Still light headed, he dove for the fray and threaded his arrow--
Aimed straight for Sabriel's turned back.]
Sabbi. [His voice was low, harsh, but eerily cool. It was almost as if the last several desperate hours hadn't existed for just one second.]
You forgot something.
[He loosed his bolt with a prayer that his judgement wasn't wasted.]

When she saw Sabriel stand up from her spell, not only unharmed but somehow strengthened and made less of herself by it, she had immediately begun her next. Her Curse eres won't work--she needs something else.
She chooses a spell that is stronger by only a little as Sabriel brings her sword about. She's only barely aware of the magic plunging towards her, of Viral's movement and hard and ragged voice. All of her attention is focused inwards as light the brilliant, shining blue of the ocean rises from the ground at her feet.]

You want to hurt? Fine!
[Her hands worked furiously, symbols of flame forming in the air as she chanted, holding aloft one of the ofuda scrolls she'd brought.]
Rin, Pyou, Tou, Sha, Kai, Jin, Retsu, Zai, Zen! Akuryu Taisan!
[The paper stiffens, and flies towards the Abhorsen...set to strike in concert with Viral's arrow and Grune's spell!]
no subject
Viral was free and armed, Rei was quietly chanting and building up power for some sort of spell and Grune...for a moment she freezes as her senses pick up on the sheer power gathering in the water of the quiet woman's spell. What on earth was the woman preparing to unleash?
At Rei's shout Sabriel turns to face...a strange piece of paper. Expecting another burst of fire it comes as a nasty shock when it shoots across the gap between necromancer and warrior and affixes itself to her forehead. Immediately, Sabriel's body locks up under its bind; a breath of surprise passes through her lips before it bursts into flames.
She couldn't move, couldn't try to defend herself as the fire caught on the Free magic corruption that ran rampant in her but she could still cry out in pain.]
no subject
Now, as Sabriel's body is bound, Grune brings her spell to a close.]
Aqua Laser.
[All magic on Melfes has its source in the blessings of its god--Nerifes, the great ocean. Even in Luceti, its power extends and works through the people of that world. Curse eres are in opposition to the god, and they cause great harm to its chosen people, the Ferines.
Sea eres, by contrast, could be argued to be the purest expression of Nerifes' blessing. Their element is not only water, but light.
At Grune's words, spoken not quite as calmly as before, a wave of water six feet high bursts from the floor, unaffected by the surrounding flames. It rushes from Grune, passing through Mars without touching her, and slams into Sabriel, and it is swiftly followed by a second, equally powerful wave.
This time, Grune does not wait to begin casting again.]
no subject
They had a chance now to make sense of this.
But the scream was just too late to stop Grune's divine wave, nor enough to stop the mage from casting again.
Drawing on the last of his reserves, Viral rushed her. His legs, though wobbly, carried him across the field with inhuman speed. He wasn't going to hurt her--if they fell, he would twist and cushion her. But action needed to be taken.]
Grune--STOP!!
no subject
When the second wave hits, the sparks take to the water as if it were oil and this time when the wave engulfs her, a bright golden fire flares into life under the water. Though muffled by the water, it's all Sabriel can do to scream. This time however, it tears out of her in two distinct voices. The first is the rough, hissing cry of the evil spirit that had been possessing her but under that is the weak and painfully human scream of Sabriel. The purifying fire dances for only moments in the water of the wave before the spell breaks and Sabriel's body falls limply to the ground.
In the wake of the magic the shadow of the serpent appears again, curled tightly around her neck, her eyes, its head pinned in place under the ofuda scroll. Hood flared it glares at them all with a deep, burning hatred.]
