What: Its the 11th, do you know where your local 30-something manchild is?

Where: All over town
Summary: Luce is meandering about the town, he is trying to learn about it and adapt. But this is him we're talking about.
Rating: PG-13
The odd thing about Luce, that despite is overly sheltered life, lack of common sense and ingrained ignorance, was that no matter what he would be naturally curious. Today, one could see the blond walking about town investigating thing, watching people, and feeling random items in stores.

He wanted to see how people survived here, and being here for just over a month had taught him a lot of things but at the same time nothing. So, what was this man to do? Besides, adapt.

She heard. She wonders if it is drive that keeps him going. If there is really nothing else. He needs nakama to bring it out in him, or perhaps Luffy-- but he's not here right now... and may never be back, (which hurts, but just a little) and this is not her forte.

"Yourself, whatever that is, is something and something worthy of living inside any church and outside of it as well."

"I am simply a tool for the church to use. You are correct." he said moving onto the next weeds. "But, it is something I accept. So, in my next life I can be something better than I am now."

She wants to say the Church isn't here, but it is. He carries it with him wherever he goes. Whether it's because he uses it as a shield or he knows no other life, she can't be sure.

"If that's what you think." Only when he's ready to think otherwise, he will. Perhaps she will ask...who? She doesn't know. He's just so strange and tired and sad.

It is what he thinks and he isn't going to argue it with this woman who somehow stays so calm when he is so upset and didn't she say she was a friend of Mr. Bird's. (Somewhere in his mind, it hurts to give a name right now.)

He wanted to see the garden. He wanted another friend. He said he was going to try and he failed. Some more weeds get roughly pulled out.

"Don't treat my garden so roughly. Even if it is just weeds there is no reason to get angry." He might see her sit on a chair of hands and rest her cheek on her fist as she watches him.

"What are you angry about anyway, Judge-chan?"

"I have no reason to be angry." Forced tone. "I just needed to be reminded of my role."

"That doesn't mean you aren't. Don't tend my garden angrily or it will grow angry. You have to treat it with love and respect."

Gardens must be like people then. He forced himself to be calm, forced the level expression even though the corners of his eyes stung. He tried.

He tried. And was reminded he was just a vehical for the church to use, something to be apathetic at. A nothing.

She watches him, unsure what he is feeling. Unsure of anything really. She kneels beside him and pulls up a weed, working the roots out and making sure that none remain the ground.

"Gently. They can't help being what they are but even they struggle to live." She puts it in the basket. "You can do it."

He tries to mimic her actions, he is still staring at the ground, like he is working on trying to deal with the emotions inside of him.

He hated feeling things.

"Everything struggles to live. It is a given."

"Do you?" She watches him for a moment. "Dig a little more there, but don't upset the row next to it."

"I have Abel. I am blessed."

[toujoursfluer]

"That's not an answer."

[inheavenslight]

"What I say doesn't matter." He said, "The church gives me what I need and deserve."

[toujoursfluer]

"Stop being so selfish. It's not the church that's asking for answers."

[inheavenslight]

"How am I being selfish?" the man said, "I am giving you answers. If the church gives me what I need and deserve, am I struggling? If I feel like I am, I am putting my desires ahead of those of the church and acting like I know better than it."

[toujoursfluer]

That, at least, is an answer she can understand.

"Nevertheless, you are struggling. Strange, isn't it?"

[inheavenslight]

"No. I'm flawed if I felt that I knew better than the Church."

[toujoursfluer]

"So you do not consider yourself flawed?" She's a little confused by your meaning. Tough she has a sense at the same time that this isn't a battle she can win.

"No I am, so I couldn't question them." Luce said, his mind was working faster than his mouth.

[toujoursfluer]

"If you say so." He makes her tired. It is like battering against a brick wall and she's never much one to fling herself against it when there isn't cause. Perhaps one day he will break down, perhaps he won't. In any case, she stands once more.

"You're almost done. Just that little patch." And she will have a weeded garden, all for the cost of a little frustration.

"And then what else?"

"And then nothing else. You wanted to see vegetables did you not? I'll let you dig them up, such as they are. You can even keep them if you're hungry." She doesn't think they would be anything worth cooking with and, at any rate, at least her meager fare would go to someone who looked like they needed it.

"Why do you say as they are? Are they not fully ready yet?"

[toujoursfluer]

"I believe they are, but I'm not a gardner so I can't be sure. It is all trial and experiment." She pauses and regards him a moment. "Have you ever done those kinds of things?"
