Summary: Apep, an Egyptian god of Chaos, possessed Helios and wrecked havoc. Those involved are going to have to cope with their injuries, mental traumas, and newfound night terrors!
Rating: R, for possible trigger warnings for descriptions of violence and bad language.

[She nods, accepting his answer as sincere. Helios was back, for sure. Only he could simper and whinge like that.]

Good, then the seal is strong. He's locked away in your Manipura chakra, near your naval. Nausea after the ritual means the seal is incomplete. But it is.

[At his question, she offers a weak smile, but her eyes flash briefly, blue-white electricity flickering across them. ]

Because you are a victim, and not the perpetrator. If I thought you had done this on purpose, you would be dead. You are a kind man. That thing was not you. It is a part of you, but it is not who you are. If the seal comes unbound, however, I will have to. It won't work twice.

[She lets those words hang in the air, a deadly promise borne of respect for his person.]

[ Helios will bring a shaking hand up to mentioned area. A small sigh will erupt from him as he looks back at Saori. ] Th-thank you. For, for everything.

[ He flinches and cringes at those words. 'Because you are a victim.' It's funny how few words like that, truthful words, can get someone to breakdown. But he does try to keep the sob in and can't really do it. Not right now. He's physically, mentally, and spiritually weak. He's a monster. And in truth everything that's happened these last few days is his fault because of what his mistakes all those years ago. He manages to reel in his emotions just enough to nod at her. ]

I-I'm not. [ he's not at all. His voice sounds tired and he himself is too. He forgets that Saori is a goddess for a moment. But he still disagrees with her. He isn't kind. ] N-Not when he's...he's a part of me. [ He bites his lip at that admission. It's painful to even accept now that he knows that Apep can possess him. ]

H-How does it come undone? [ So that it may never become so as long as he's alive? ]

[Saori stands up and walks over to the bed, kneeling down by the edge of it. Her eyes retain that same flare, the dim room lit by the luminescent glow of electricity. One hand reaches out, and grasps his chin, forcing him to look her in the eyes. She wants Helios to understand.]

You are a kind man. A broken man, but capable of good. I do not deal in falsehoods and half truths, Helios. And I will do everything in my power to make sure Apep never surfaces again.

[Even if it means she has to kill you, the unspoken truth behind her words]

The Seal can only be undone by your will, my will, or that of my lord, who is not present.

[ Wasn't expecting that. What he was expecting was a slap to the face or something worse. So he flinches away and his breath hitches at the warm hands on his cold skin now grabbing his chin. He tries to look away but, no, she deserves an attentive audience after everything he's put her through. Sorry if he doesn't look convinced with your words Saori but Helios' old self doubts are pretty damn apparent right now and they're quite loud too. He wasn't a good person. He wasn't anyone worthy of being called that. His green eyes water a little and he blinks away that burning sensation as he looks at Saori's glowing ones. ] I-I didn't know this, this could happen.

[ There's pain in his voices as he says those words. Ra never told him about this, he never told him that Apep's essence and taint was sentient. That it could possibly possess him. ] I'm s-sorry for, for everything.

[ And here he'll try to move away and get out of bed. He really doesn't want to be a bother to her anymore than he has. He has a lot of people to apologize to after all. ] Th-thank you for, for helping me. I-I should go.

[Gently, the goddess bends down further, and does something that may frighten him even more. She kisses him on the forehead, as one might a small child. For a brief moment, the wetness of her lips glows the same as her eyes, a spiritual magic meant to dull the awful ache in his joints: the blessing of the divine.]

No, you didn't know. You are mortal, I do not expect you to know everything.

[She stands up and offers him a hand up]

I will allow you to leave. On three conditions. The first is that if you feel nauseous, or if you have nightmares you come to me. Immediately. The second is that you will check in with me, once a week at minimum, for the next two months.

And finally, I have a request. A favor. Penance, if you wish to consider it that.

[ The kiss does scare him further, as his posture stiffens and curls a bit inward with the act. It's strange to have someone be compassionate to him about this sort of thing. When back home all he ever got was ostracized and hurt and pain. Someone who cares about his mistake and curse and pain and doesn't blame him for it. She was like Ra in that way if nothing else than being a deity. He feels that energy dull the ache in his joints but the pain in his damaged soul remains. It's...helpful and he's utterly grateful that he didn't receive Saori's wrath.

He just feels so frustrated about everything. He lets out a small shaky sigh and nods. He doesn't take the offered hand, he isn't that well to do so yet. Instead he cringes slightly and shakes his head, getting up by himself. He wobbles a little as he does so and moves away from Saori as if afraid to move into her space. He's probably going to not be around people for awhile, maybe forcing himself might make it better, but no he shouldn't go into isolation should he? He wasn't a danger...not with the seal but he still felt awful. And there was always the ever present fact that it could break... ] I-I will, immediately.

[ He winces at that. So he can't go into hiding and seclusion? You're making this difficult for him Saori. ] Y-Yes of, of course.

[ He looks at her with a small bit of reverence, something of the same look he gave Ra all those years ago when he saved him from Apep. ] I-I'll do anything I-I can for you. Y-You don't even have to ask...

[ Gods, no, of course she didn't. The fact that she did was rather ridiculous. Helios will do anything she asks of him because he's indebted to her more than he can ever possible conceive. ]

[She nods curtly, taking out a weather and time worn book. If he can read traditional Chinese, it's labeled as The Book of the Fallen. Turning to a page, she inspects it and nods again to herself.]

Sealing Apep has sapped much of my energy. I will need to bind my spirit to this land, else I risk this form coming undone should my energy deplete fully. It isn't as simple for me as it is for you humans.

I need to perform a ritual in the forest, and during that ritual I will be unable to move from the eye of a storm I am going to create for one week. I will need you, thrice daily, to bring me food and water. Rice, seaweed, simple things. No meat save fish.

[And the hard part]

And I will need you to pray in penitence. Hold me in your mind, think positively of me. Send me your well-wishes, so that I might draw power from them and complete the ritual.

I-I know. I've, I've read about similar rituals b-before. [ He's never partaken in one and if he wasn't a mess there would be so much more excitement and happiness in his voice. But as it stands it's just neutral and rather dulled.

Helios listens to her words nodding in understanding and acceptance. Think positively about her won't be difficult. Helios holds the goddess in nothing but kind regards before, but now, after saving him? Penitence is something he can offer her much of. ] I-I'd be honored to.

[ Not that he thinks he should even be there let alone someone Saori is asking to help with this, but. ] Thank you again f-for everything.

[All the lights in the room spring to life now, her eyes shutting out]

I will be keeping an eye on you. Don't hide from people. That will only exasperate the problems you are feeling.

And should you find yourself without a place to sleep, this bed is open to you.

[ He nods almost like an obedient child. He doesn't comment on the hiding from people. Because he can't really promise her he won't because he will. He'll remove himself from the village while he tries to process everything. It'll take some time and he'll try not to hide but...it's not something he can fully say he's able to do.

He'll just turn away before any of those tears form in his eyes and nods silently in thanks again before he makes for the door hurriedly to leave. He doesn't understand it, why she was so nice to him, maybe he never will. His own harshness onto himself is probably enough to make up for it though. He's not sure what he was expecting but this wasn't it. ]
