Summary: Apep, an Egyptian god of Chaos, possessed Helios and wrecked havoc. Those involved are going to have to cope with their injuries, mental traumas, and newfound night terrors!
Rating: R, for possible trigger warnings for descriptions of violence and bad language.

No, it isn't my fault. It falls squarely on to Apep, and by proxy the Malnosso. However, that doesn't mean I shouldn't have checked on you. I am apologizing for being remiss in that duty, not accepting the blame for things beyond my control.

[Well, that's...one way to put things. Very logical but a little cold...and not a mindset Sabriel is prepared to adapt anytime soon. Sabriel nods, quiet for a moment before she asks.]

[She looks over at the girl, a sad expression forming on her face. Had she said something wrong? Was the truth bad?]

I'm walking you home. I just wanted to talk to you.

[Saori shakes her head, knowing exactly what's running through Sabriel's head]

I truly am sorry, and...I want to help you get better. I do feel that I have wronged you, and I owe you.

[You shouldn't be apologizing to her, Saori, you banished Apep from Helios and saved them all. You did what she could not. Pulling away from that train of thought Sabriel frowns faintly up at the woman.]

How? I failed you. I should offer some recompense, should I not? Otherwise...you...will be angry with me, yes?

N-No, not like that- And...no, I won't be angry with you Saori. In my perspective you haven't wronged me but I was just...curious to know...how you might try to help me.

Oh, um. Well...I can bake you something. Or...I can help you recover from your ordeal, with music, or a blessing, or any number of things. Or...I suppose I can just...be your friend. If you want that.

[Is it possible to feel horrible and yet be strangely happy? Because Sabriel's got a whole mash up of conflicting emotions right now, not to mention a little surprise at how gentle the hug was despite it being so sudden.]

Not physically, no. I'm more than capable of defending myself, Sabriel, and my kind are notoriously resilient.

I...used most of my energy to seal Apep though, which is going to be hard to recover until I manage my anchoring ritual.

[Sabriel's going to ask about Apep's binding later.]

Yes, dear.

[Saori just nods]

I am not a creature of this world. None of us are. So I cannot draw in ambient energy. With the ritual, I can anchor my spirit here, and thereby absorb that energy.

Oh...but then, would that tie you permanently to this world?

[The ritual however sounds an awful lot like what Sabriel is trying to establish with her Charter stone.]

Absolutely not. I am merely going to reshape a piece of this world...after a fashion...into a vessel that I can drink from, if you understand the metaphor.

[Its similar, but different as well]

Ah, I think I do. You need to build a foundation for yourself here.

[Sabriel nods.]

I've been working on something similar to be honest. Not for myself but for my magic.

Are you really, dear? What does this involve?

[Sabriel hesitates before answering. The key to making the Charter stone was also the key to breaking it after all...but she could trust Saori with a bit of an explanation.]

My blood. The magic I draw from is known as the Charter, created from five Great Charters in my home world. During the creation my bloodline was born, which means the potential of the Great Charter lives in me. In order to use my magic, I need the Charter stone to act as a foundation, a drawing point.

Ah. A magical infusion within the land. Its similar to what I'm doing, yes.

What is left that you need to do before the ritual? I will help, however I can.

[She thought so. Besides, the breaking requires a Necromancer's hand...and as far as she knows, she hasn't met any in Luceti.]

My next infusion should be the last. The process has to be done by myself but I have some friends who are willing to give me some support during the making.

[Saori gently puts an encouraging hand on the much younger woman's shoulder]

Can...I ask you for some help with something, Sabriel-san?

[Sabriel nods, slowing to a stop as Saori places a hand on her shoulder.]

While I am performing this ritual. I...will be very weak. And when it is done I will be even more so.

Can you visit me at the end of the week, and help me make my way home? I do not know if I will be able to so much as walk.
