Prescribed Recreation part 3: Chillax'n with a Vengeance

What: Movie night on the beach
When: September 9th, in the evening
Where: The Beach
Summary: After an unfortunate tussle with a Chaos God, work on a farm, a swarm of refugees and stress piled upon stress, sometimes all anyone wants is to sit back and watch classic movies.
Rating: PG for possible adult language
Something that everyone could agree on was this: the past three weeks had been several shades of stressful. What they needed, what they all needed was something mindless and relaxing shared in the company of those they care for in a neutral environment. The beach works well enough, and it's not that far a trip for anyone involved.

I met him here, once or twice, a long time ago. I knew some of his comrades from his home more.

Did you really? Well that...is interesting.

[Luke honestly finds the entire 'pulled from other worlds' bit not that big a deal anymore, but Superman at least seemed like someone who couldn't possibly exist. Live and learn I guess]

Maybe...they'll return someday. Were you friends?

[But Ami shakes her head; she'd barely known him, and only remembers one or two conversations.]

No; I only knew him a little bit. He had different friends.

Ah, well...I suppose thats too bad.

[Luke nods and shrugs, turning his eyes back to the screen, but putting his arm around her shoulder]

You don't mind being close like this, do you? I...don't want to be too forward.

[She shakes her head again, and a faint pink creeps into her cheeks at the admission before she even makes it.]

Actually, I sort of like it like this. [Close. Warm. Comfortable.]

[Luke nods. He doesn't want to make her uncomfortable. Thats not really his way, and he isn't really all that forward himself]

I'm glad. I...like it too. [Its comfortable, and with the seasons preparing to change, its nice to have someone warm]

[It feels... like a date, doesn't it? (She might be more than a little slow as that dawns on her only now.)

Still, Luke probably invited her as his friend, she decides against the evidence.]

After we've seen all of the movie, tell me your favorite part.

[Ami...you should know by now that Luke can somewhat sense your emotions. And when he picks up on that niggling bit of doubt...he can't help it. He feels he has to prove something, that he really does like her. And that this is, in fact, a date.

Luke, all of a sudden just moves closer, and kisses her. No preamble, no leadup. Just...smooch.]

[Ami freezes as her eyes widen in surprise.

(It feels nice.)

... What is she supposed to do? Does she kiss him back now? If she does, should it be on the cheek or... or on the lips? (Is he going to think she's hopelessly naive if she does the wrong thing?)

In the end, so lightly it can barely be felt, she returns a kiss on Luke's cheek.]

[Luke smiles over at her, glad that she had the nerve to do so. He was worried that was far, FAR too forward, but it was an impulse. He slips a hand down to hers and holds it for a long moment, saying nothing]

That was nice, Ami-chan.

[Suddenly, she's not looking at Luke. She's looking anywhere else. Despite that, and the quick, furtive look to make sure no one saw or overheard them, her answer is positive.]

For me, too. I liked it, too.

I'm glad.

[Luke smiles quietly, suppressing a laugh.]

No need to be embarrassed. Its just a kiss.

But, I haven't done that before, so... [In fact, her only experiences with dating and this sort of thing at all have been with Luke.]

[Well thats news to him. Luke had expected she'd at least been kissed before. In the back of his head he could almost hear Mara chiding him, 'Wow, what a dork you are, farmboy.' and for a moment he was glad nobody from his timeline was present]

Oh...well. I...hope it was memorable.

[She opens her mouth to say 'I definitely won't forget it'... but in Luceti, she very well might.]

It's definitely memorable to me. [This is true. Without the Malnosso tampering, or returning to her world, she certainly wouldn't forget a second of this night.]

[Luke just smiles. He's glad that she can remember it. With everything that'd happened, it was good to be able to make someone smile. He knows what she's thinking, and he agrees.]

Thats good. I'm glad. You're someone special to me, you know.

[It might not last forever. Feelings can change, even if they're certainly true right now. Luceti could send one of them away.

But she decided to face all that when she first said yes to him, and she doesn't back away now.]

It's the same for me. That's why, I want to just think about being with you right now.

I feel the same way.

[He holds her tightly, though a cup of the juice he'd poured does float over and hovers in her peripheral vision, ready for her when she wants it. A small gesture of affection.]

[She can't help smiling at it, but she also can't quite get used to those little gestures - more because of the magic involved than the kindness.]

You know, back home, people can't do that sort of thing so easily. Only a few people could do it at all. [The shitennou... she'd seen them do small little feats like that alongside their more notable powers. The senshi never had, really.]

Most people back home can't in mine, either. In all honesty, I shouldn't use the Force so frivolously, but I want to impress you.

[Luke smiles weakly]

Its just in my nature.

Doing something just to impress a girl... [There's the faintest half-second's pause that means anything could be coming next.]

It's kind of flattering, somehow.

I...its because you're special. I don't do these things for just anyone.

No. You're not that kind of person. [She says it like it's something good - or maybe a relief.]

Not at all. I'm glad you understand that.

[He chuckles]

If you did it for just anyone, it wouldn't be special to any of them. [And she thinks Luke wants it to be special.]
