Prescribed Recreation part 3: Chillax'n with a Vengeance

Who: House 44, House 46, House 3, Saori, Steve Rogers, and whoever wanders in
What: Movie night on the beach
When: September 9th, in the evening
Where: The Beach
Summary: After an unfortunate tussle with a Chaos God, work on a farm, a swarm of refugees and stress piled upon stress, sometimes all anyone wants is to sit back and watch classic movies.
Rating: PG for possible adult language
Something that everyone could agree on was this: the past three weeks had been several shades of stressful. What they needed, what they all needed was something mindless and relaxing shared in the company of those they care for in a neutral environment. The beach works well enough, and it's not that far a trip for anyone involved.

You are too kind Saori.

[Sabriel had given her word that she would keep an eye out for the storm over the forest and she had. It had taken some time, and a brief climb up a tree to find the source of the storm but she had...and had come across the very drained Goddess; weakened, but thankfully very much alive.

Taking a seat with her own glass of iced tea she gives the woman a small smile, eyeing the instrument curiously.]

Your instrument has a lovely voice, what's it called?
windandrain: (Smiling)

[The goddess takes a long sip before answering. She liked Sabriel, for her calm demeanor. She wasn't nearly as sarcastic as so many humans here, and that was refreshing.]

A Shamisen. Its like a guitar.

[A pause]

Do you play any instruments, dear?
thebellthatbinds: (I'm listening)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-10 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Its tone is sweeter than a guitar's.

[Sabriel sips her tea and nods.]

We have a small ensemble of instruments at the College, mainly guitars, clarinets, percussions, a piano that the professors usually use and some other singular instruments for the soloists.

I have a bit of experience with most of them but I prefer the violin.

Well, instruments in my homeland are a little different than those. We have similar instruments in Japan to what you've learned, but those are all western and therefore foreign to me. I...can't play them.

[She shrugs]

Do you have a violin here? I'd love to hear you play.
thebellthatbinds: (sweet smile)

The western guitar as you call it, is actually pretty easy once you are familiar with the chords and the locations of the notes along the neck. All that's require afterwards is finger dexterity and a good sense of rhythm.

[Sabriel smiles and shakes her head.]

I only have my tools with me, and I'm afraid I've been out of practice over these last couple of months. But...I suppose I could trade you a song for a song if you don't mind that I sing mine.
windandrain: (More Smiles)

[personal profile] windandrain 2012-09-11 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
I'd love that. By all means, please do sing. I'm sure you have a beautiful singing voice!
thebellthatbinds: (dreaming of better days)

Being musical runs in my family.

[Sitting up a little straighter she considers her options. Seeing as it's been a while, best she pick something a little mild and easy but still melodious.]
windandrain: (Kindly)

[personal profile] windandrain 2012-09-11 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Saori listens to the song, her foot tapping in time with the melody. When Sabriel is finished she stands up and claps excitedly]

That was marvelous. You have a splendid singing voice, Sabriel!
thebellthatbinds: (sweet smile)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-13 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
[Saori, you really are too kind. Sabriel flushes a little at the woman's enthusiasm, ducking her head in a shy little bow.]

Thank you. I've...never really sang for someone outside of the College before.
windandrain: (Contemplation)

[personal profile] windandrain 2012-09-13 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Really? You should sing more often, dear. It would brighten so many people's faces. Including your own.
thebellthatbinds: (don't worry)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-13 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I have not had much reason to as of late but perhaps I should. To be honest I'm more curious to hear more music from other worlds.
windandrain: (Contemplation)

[personal profile] windandrain 2012-09-13 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Really? Well...I'd happily share music from mine with you. I know the Little Fox and Del-chan would as well.
thebellthatbinds: (what was that?)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-13 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
If it sounds anything like what you were playing earlier then I would be very happy to listen.

[Those pet names make her pause though.]

Little Fox and...who?
thebellthatbinds: (shy)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-13 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Those are nicknames, right?

[She's heard Lupin, Sanji and Rei use 'chan' after names but she still doesn't know the significance behind it.]
windandrain: (Kindly)

[personal profile] windandrain 2012-09-13 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
...Yes.

[She laughs, guessing the problem]

The Little Fox is Lupin. And Del-chan is Adele. Chan...is used as a sign of affection in Japanese, a close friend or a sister. San is added for friends. It would be rare for a mortal Japanese person to not use either Chan or San. But if one does...its a sign of deep caring and respect.
thebellthatbinds: (peaceful)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-14 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
O-Oh...I see.

[Sabriel's cheeks flush a faint pink as Saori's explanation sinks in. She's touched, really...it wasn't quite like when she was given a nickname from someone else in the enclosure but that so much could be expressed in a simple word attached to a name is a little humbling.]
windandrain: (Bemused)

[personal profile] windandrain 2012-09-14 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Is something wrong?
thebellthatbinds: (sweet smile)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-14 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Not at all, I am just...recalling the times I have heard those words in conjunction with my own name.
windandrain: (Cold Eyes)

[personal profile] windandrain 2012-09-14 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh, then someone values you greatly, dear. And that is good, to be loved.
thebellthatbinds: (don't worry)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-15 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it is. When I next see them I intend to return the sentiment if I can.
windandrain: (Eyes Forward)

[personal profile] windandrain 2012-09-15 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure they would appreciate that, very much.
thebellthatbinds: (oh well)

[personal profile] thebellthatbinds 2012-09-15 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not entirely sure how to go about it but...I'll think of something.
windandrain: (Close Up Smile)

[personal profile] windandrain 2012-09-16 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
Good. Gestures of kindness are always good.
