Summary: Triggered by recent events, Katie's darker, more primal soul is in control and intent on sharing the love. Or the hate. Depends on your definition, really.
Rating: ...I honestly don't know. Let's make it a high PG just in case?

Sometimes. Most often it's because the London police department asks Professor Layton for help, or someone from another town has heard of him and wants his assistance.

[And his star apprentice goes everywhere with him!]

Oh, you work for the police! [Now he has her genuine interest.] What's the London police like?

Wh-what? No, we don't work for the police at all, really. Sometimes they just need...help. A lot of them are really quite competent on their own.

You sound like Sherlock Holmes and Watson.

The detective and the doctor from those stories? [Yep he's blushing.] That's really flattering, but the Professor isn't a detective and I'm definitely not, um, anything like Watson.

[Yeah he's fanboying it.]

[[ooc: You know I really have no idea if he would know who they are the way we do. He's met them in Luceti's library books.]]

Well, you're too young just yet. But wouldn't it be fun to be that famous?

[[ooc: Katie's never seen the BBC version or the characters thereof. She's just thinking of the original stories.]]

Maybe a little bit. I suppose it would be nice to be known for doing something you really love. [Which isn't necessarily puzzles, for him. Not all the time.]

[[ooc: Neither has Luke! He's read a few of the stories, loving mystery and detective novels as he does.]]

Well, why don't you become famous here, then? [She gestures around the street.] Show everyone how good at puzzles you are.

Famous here? [Headtilt. He is actually considering the thought.] A few people already know. Not a lot of people here are really enthusiastic about puzzles.

Then you just need to find a way to make them enthusiastic. [She taps her puzzle grid.] Put them up everywhere people can see. They'll ask you what you're doing.

[Luke glances between her and the wall puzzle with its little nature decorations.]

They won't get mad about it?

Not if you use chalk. [She holds up her stick.] Do you know it washes off in the rain?

Of course I do! [But the chalk is a rather good idea, isn't it? He looks at his own piece with a frown of contemplation.]

I suppose I could. Just for a little while. If nothing else then at least more people will find out how much fun puzzles are.

That's right!

Besides, I drew pictures all over town once. Nobody complained. I think they rather like it.

All right then, I'll do it. [He feels pretty triumphant about the whole thing.] Thanks, it sounds like a good idea after all.

[She smiles.]

Would you like some more chalk? I have plenty.

Sure, thanks!

[Does she have blue he really likes blue.]

[Sure does. Katie keeps a stock of every colour. She'll offer him a handful.]

Can I watch for a while?

Oh, sure! I don't mind at all. You can keep looking through the book if you want, I know plenty of puzzles to start with.

I'll do just that then.

[She finds a nice seat with his puzzle book, and put any chalk he doesn't take on the bench next to her. He can take whatever he likes.

And for now, she'll look interested in the book. Which isn't too hard, because it's rather creative.]
