Summary: Masaomi asked Katara out. She said yes after the draft. He gave her some time to settle, and then offered a time for it to happen - she accepted,and here we are.

[Aaaand here. We. Go. He considered just wearing that same suit, but that might have been a tired thing. He could have put on something the Prince would wear -- he even considered it -- but thought better of it. In the end, the settled for something like this, but with less obnoxious socks and the dress pants from the suit instead of Jeans. He still thinks he looks nice, but now he doesn't look overly nice! Or demanding!

Man he's confident but it's possible he under-dressed. Oh Well. Knock, one arm behind his back]

[Katara feels herself starting to smile sometime midway into his delivery.]

What is it?

Well, I figure you and me are sort of simple fellows, and sooo, for this date, I would settle on something simple. [And he pushes off the couch, sauntering over towards the teleporter in here - the one that goes to the hot springs] It'll actually be a little hike, but it's not bad. Eeeeven if it's a bit cold.

[Sweet. He was a little afraid she would make dangerous assumptions about him given this particular teleporter does go to the hot springs. But he opens the door and gets on in himself. It's actually a little tight with two full size people in it, but he's... not aware of that. He doesn't go to the springs a lpt in less than groups where you go solo anyway]

[Nope. Doesn't even occur to her.

...the tightness of the teleporter does as it brings her nearly flush up against him, but hey. It's faster than walking.]

And we're gooo! [he winks, before shutting the door, pop and... they're there! The door's opened again, and then there's the hot springs in all their glory. Bathhouse and all. He steps on out before her and spreads his arms some. Not that it was too cramped per se, but. Movement freedom]

[Katara follows along after him, glancing around cheerfully enough.]

So which way are we going?

It's to the east of here [I think we decided] a half hour's hike or so. Thiiis way. [And he leads her past the bathhouse and now through a little half-cave passage to a "trail" - it's not a real trail, but it's a followable path he knows he can manage and shouldn't be too hard on them]

[She follows along.]

Are we going someplace specific?

That we are, but it's a surprise.

[He hopes. He's not sure if Shikamaru's ever taken her there or not]

I planned it, what do you think?

I think it'll be a surprise, that's for sure.

Exacttly. What's "good" is too subjective for me to determine just yet! Buuuut, I think you'll be pleased enough.

[She gives him a small, tentative smile.]

All right.

Mmm. And for now, we hike.

[...And you know what, he goes for a hand hold, as they continue down this trail. Cool mountain goat off to the left]

[And you know what? Katara will hesitate, but then allow Masaomi to hold her hand. It's a good reminder that this is different than any other time that it's been just the two of them. It means she should be able to allow herself to feel... whatever it is that she feels. But she's put so many barriers in place, it feels awkward.]

About how far away is it?

[...Oh she took it. He feels his heart flutter some at that and his smile gets more pronounced]

Like I said, thirty odd minutes, leisurely. I've gotten there faster floating or on deerback.

[Katara glanced away.]

[It hadn't been a particularly good day.]

[Oh jeez, he squeezes her hand and-] He's robust enough. [A grin and-] Anyway. The point is it shan't be too long. We can savor the mountain air and each other's company until then, to boot.

That's good. [She looked back at him.] Because it's even colder up here.

[And your jacket is nonsense, boy.]

Heeey, I've got extra body warmth [On their held hands] - so I'll survive! Besides, if I get frostbite, I do have my Doctor on call.
