EVENT LOG: SCAVENGER HUNT

Who: All you scavenger hunters!
What: Scavenging and other fantabulousness, I suppose.
When: November 24th to 28th
Where: The whole village! And yet also all over time and space...

As announced by CJ, the village's immediate environs are divided up according to this map. There are five areas: the Nile, Ice Age, Space Opera, Shogunate, and Gangland. Time-and-place appropriate architecture and conjured up NPCs exist in each area.

Don't forget the scavenger hunt! While actually finding things is ultimatly optional, you can find more information on the hunt here. If you want to claim a reward from the hunt, be sure to link at least two related threads on the new rewards claims post.

Finally, here's a quick rundown of the objects:
- In THE NILE: A ceremonial dagger and a piece of Pharoah's treasure
- In GANGLAND: A tommy gun and a set of car keys
- In ICE AGE: A bone spear and a smilodon's tooth
- In SPACE OPERA: a raygun and part of a robot
- In SHOGUNATE: a samurai sword and water from a kappa's head

Right. Nice to meet you, too, Kirk. Err - what were you doing in these reeds, anyway?

I got hot and wanted to cool my feet, but I figured if I was in the reeds I had less of a chance of getting chomped on by a croc or charged by a hippo.

[dragoneer]

Uhh...a what-now?

[Yeah, guess who doesn't have crocodiles or hippos where he comes from - this guy.]

_{[He blinks, wondering if the boy was serious, and then he laughed.]}

Uh, you know - nile crocodiles and hippos? Water horses? Giant reptiles and a fat quadruped?

[dragoneer]

[Okay, reptiles he gets, but...]

Yeah, you lost me there. Me? I'm a viking. From the north. We don't really have many exotic animals besides the dragons.

Viking huh? They're not around much in my world, but okay, I get it now.

Basics - avoid them both. Crocs will make a meal out of you and hippos are just mean. Crocs are long and scaley, and hippos are huge and both have really big mouths with big teeth. So, you know, just avoid anything with big teeth in general. Good life lesson.

[dragoneer]

I'll keep that in mind. You know - with some exceptions.

[He's kind of the dragon authority back home, after all. He has to spend at least some time around things with big teeth.]

_{[Well, Nile Crocs aren't dragons, Hiccup.]}

Just don't be stupid, yeah? A croc can take your arm off like that and a hippo wil just crush you. I want a look at them, but from a safe distance, you know?

Though, I dunno, it might be a good defense if those guards come after you again.

_{[He grinned at him.]}

[dragoneer]

If I had Toothless with me, I bet he could scare them off, but we got separated. [Oh, right, he should probably explain that.] That is, ah - Toothless is my dragon.

_{[He blinked, not sure how to take that at first, but oddly... it was not as stunning as it should have been. He was friends with a talking lion and knew a talking pony, so, yeah, not as bad is it sounded.]}

Oddly enough, I actually believe that.

I guess it's not too weird considering some of the stuff that goes on here. He's not even the only dragon around.

Well, I would hope not. From a biological stand point, that wouldn't be good for the whole continuation of the species thing.

[dragoneer]

Well, he's the only Night Fury around. But I think he might be the only one left back, home, too. Soooo continuation of the species might be out.

Oh, ouch. Well, at least he could potentially cross-breed? Or who knows, maybe a miracle will happen a lady Night Fury will pop up for him.
