EVENT LOG: SCAVENGER HUNT

Who: All you scavenger hunters!
What: Scavenging and other fantabulousness, I suppose.
When: November 24th to 28th
Where: The whole village! And yet also all over time and space...
Summary: See this post for more info.
Rating: P for Points! (Keep it PGish, folks. Anything worthy of a higher rating can be brought to your appointments posts.)

As announced by CJ, the village's immediate environs are divided up according to this map. There are five areas: the Nile, Ice Age, Space Opera, Shogunate, and Gangland. Time-and-place appropriate architecture and conjured up NPCs exist in each area.

Don't forget the scavenger hunt! While actually finding things is ultimatly optional, you can find more information on the hunt here. If you want to claim a reward from the hunt, be sure to link at least two related threads on the new rewards claims post.

Finally, here's a quick rundown of the objects:
- In THE NILE: A ceremonial dagger and a piece of Pharoah's treasure
- In GANGLAND: A tommy gun and a set of car keys
- In ICE AGE: A bone spear and a smilodon's tooth
- In SPACE OPERA: a raygun and part of a robot
- In SHOGUNATE: a samurai sword and water from a kappa's head

Happy hunting!

Natasha listens to her concerns with a serious expression, mulling that information over, wondering what it could mean. She was still new here - she had nothing to compare this to, and even then, information about anyone in control of this place still seemed vague and jumbled. She wasn't sure anyone else had caught that, or if they had, she hadn't heard of it. It was incredibly observant and intuitive of the girl.

"I thought we were already mice in a maze, technically," she responded after a moment, motioning to their surroundings. "Just because our cage is pleasant and interesting most of the time doesn't make it any less a cage. Although this is the first I've heard mention of how this event was different. It's hard to guess what that could mean."

There was a beat of silence. Had Natasha really just responded by correcting her? Stating that she'd missed the point entirely, that they were already mice in a maze so what was the point?

"There's a difference," she said slowly, attempting to reign in her temper, give the other woman the benefit of the doubt, "between bein' kept in a cage and bein' driven towards something. Ethics evaluations? Attemptin' ta teach residents that 'violence is not the answer?' Let me tell ya, that little object lesson ain't about us. They could care less about what happens inside the enclosures. You asked me what I thought, an' I'm telling you - this is something different. And that makes me nervous."

"I wasn't trying to upset you or anger you," Natasha answered with a faint shake of her head, choosing her words carefully, because that had apparently come across wrong.

"You're very right, there is a difference. I haven't been here for the past events, the shifts, the experimentation. I haven't had the chance to observe them the way you and many of the others have yet. So I tend to rely on my own experiences for comparison, and they seem to go to far too much trouble to have brought us here merely to keep us contained. I agree, they want to use us and at the moment, we don't have much say in being used. They may give us the appearance of choice now and then, but I would assume that's more for our sake than anything."

"And anytime they change the game, change the rules, you should be nervous," she added, glancing at the table and frowning for a moment, her finger tracing shapes absently. "It could be just another test, another experiment to see what results they get. It could hint at something much worse."

She flicked a glance up at Rogue, her green eyes serious. "If your instincts are telling you to be nervous, listen to them."

Some of the tension went out of Rogue's shoulders when she saw that Natasha was taking this seriously. She flicked her gaze down to her coffee cup and stared at it. "Yeah. I guess we'll see." She sighed a little, "Not much ta do about it, even if I'm right."

it's okay! :)

"There's always something to do, even if it doesn't always feel like it," Natasha countered, and her gaze went distant a moment as it fixed on something across the street before transferring back to Rogue, giving the young woman a faint smile. "Sometimes, that can be playing their games just enough to figure out the rules. Even if that makes it sound easier than it sometimes is."

Rogue took a sip of her coffee, "Maybe. But... even the folks playin' us don't seem to know all the rules."

"Which could be an advantage," Natasha points out, then considers and makes a face, leaning back in her chair and stretching her legs out in front of her, beneath the table. "Or a complication. No one anywhere seems to have a straight answer in this place."
touchofrogue: (Is Something Interesting Happening?)

"Welcome ta Luceti," Rogue said dryly.

Natasha laughed, her grin quick as she lifted one shoulder in a shrug, looking mostly un-bothered. "So I'm seeing. I could have done without another impossible challenge so soon after the last one, but we didn't exactly get a say in this. So make the best of it in the meantime, I suppose."

A gunshot rang out again and her eyes scanned the street once more, but the source wasn't immediately noticeable. She sighed and stood.

"On that note, I have to go meet someone to steal a few guns."

Rogue gave Natasha a lazy salute, "Have fun."
