Miracle on Luceti Street.
Who: Everybody! (Mostly.)
What: IT'S CHRISTMAS OR SOMETHING.
When: The 19th through the 25th. Feel free to backdate and forwarddate and everydate as you please.
Where: All over the village!
Summary: It's a wintertime jamboree. Go ice skating. Hand out gifts to those you love. (Or want to prank, as the case may be.) Deal with meddling, creepy elves. Kiss a lot of people. It'll be good. Except for the parts where it'll be awkward. But that's what we're here for, isn't it?
Rating: Anywhere from PG to R, I imagine. If you need to play out sexytimes, please either fade to black and take it elsewhere or CLEARLY mark the thread in the subject line. (The former is preferable, but not strictly necessary.)
This is your event catch-all log! Sorry it's a bit late in going up. All you really need to do is mention in your subject line what date(s) it is, so folks know if they're dealing with mistletoe or not. Feel free to set up multiple scenarios, of course. Also, as always, tag your characters!
Here is your event info, and feel free to continue asking questions there if necessary. Now go and make merry!

But no. Trapped again. He's starting to hate that sensation.
Loki sighs and looks up, then gives Rogue an awkward smile.]
That wasn't there a minute ago.

Rogue followed his gaze up. "Fucking damn," she whispered. Her heart immediately accelerated and she dropped her gaze to Loki's. She was somewhat sheepish and apologetic, flustered and excited, annoyed and a little bit frightened, and terrible at hiding all of those things from anyone who wanted to meet her gaze and look for them. In fact, if someone looked closely, there were all the traces of previous upset in the corners of her eyes, "So you know about these? Any chance you could set it on fire?"

And he could joke about it, but worse was just being forced to be that close to people against his will. As a rule, he didn't like touching people or being touched by him. Exceptions to that were rare. And of course, the bit where Jane had run away crying had been particularly unpleasant.
"I think after this I will just go home and not leave again until someone tells me this infernal plant has wholly vanished."

It hadn't been her fault, technically. She hadn't kissed him. But still, it had been close enough.
Her shoulders rounded defensively and it felt simultaneously good and horrible to admit that out loud. And she should probably be concerned with how easily, how quickly those words had tripped out of her mouth, but she was still reeling from the encounter. She could feel her heart beating in her ears.
Gawd. Someone. Make this just all stop.

I really hate what I am. I really hate that I'm a walking biohazard. I really hate that it's a mockery of everything that I want. And I really hate that I can't just lean up and kiss you and forget.
She took a deep breath and then looked back up at him, her eyes suspiciously shiny, "Sorry."
no subject
I'm here. You can't hurt me.
At least not like that.

She sought his eyes again, her own now clear of imminent tears and earnest. The hand she'd raised between them found rest against his chest for a moment. She wanted him to hear her, she wanted to somehow make this okay and she needed the comfort that he could provide, the comfort that someone who wouldn't flinch away from her touch could give. "It is."
It is a big deal to me.
no subject
Really, for him what gave this any weight was the fact that he liked her, such an unusual thing to begin with. That he cared and did not wish to see her upset.
He covered her hand with his for a moment, then raised it to his lips, pressing a kiss on her knuckles. "But you needn't fear either."
no subject
Closing her eyes, she exhaled quietly, "I know."
Rogue didn't seek to grab her hand away, and she rallied strength to do what had to be done, to focus in the moment and think past her pounding heart. "Your shield's up?"
no subject
"Yes," he said.
One hand still holding hers, he reached up with the other, pausing before he actually touched her cheek, one eyebrow quirking up slightly.
no subject
"Okay," she said, giving him permission.
But she hadn't hung the mistletoe there. She hadn't made these rules. If they were going to have to trod all over the lines she'd carefully put down to keep this from going too far, acting on their mutual attraction to the point where it could get even more complicated, then they might as well let it be something real. Rogue was feeling too fragile and shaken, too hurt and too drawn to him to make this kiss something dispassionate. She just didn't have it in her to freeze both of them out, not when she needed the comfort, not when she wanted him so much.
So she might as well let him touch her cheek. And she might as well bring up her other hand up to lightly touch his waist.

She'd forgotten what this was like.
Sure, she'd been haunted by the memory, and no, his touch was not the last she'd experienced, but no amount of echo could replace reality.
Her eyes fluttered closed.

The long game, he reminded himself. Always the long game.
He leaned forward slowly, giving her ample time to trace that movement so she wouldn't be startled. Rather than bring their lips together, he pressed a kiss against her temple, tender and almost unbelievably gentle coming from someone like him.
It did not count, if she was forced to come to him. It wasn't real, then. He knew precisely what he wanted, and being forced together for the entertainment of someone else was not it.
He felt the force holding them in place recede at that kiss. Loki moved back slightly, still keeping them close - in this, he would indulge himself, as long as he could, damn them anyway. He smiled, thumb caressing her cheek again. "There. You can get away now if you want," he murmured.
He had little doubt she would, but he could hope. He waited to see what she would do, a full measure of desire and affection visible in his eyes. There could be no mistaking that any of this was a gesture purely of friendship.

Her eyes opened and she met his gaze to see what was written there. Oh my...
Rogue swallowed hard. Her light touch against his waist pulsed once and her lips parted slightly. "I--"
She should. She should step away. There was no doubt in her mind that stepping away would be the best thing to do.
But all Rogue wanted to do was step closer. "--just a minute, okay?" Closing her eyes again, she leaned more fully into his touch and swayed closer. "Just a minute."

But at the same time, the contact had a steadying affect. That was what she had to hold on to, not any internal cry for more.
After an incalculable amount of time, Rogue took another breath and dropped her hand. "Thank you," she said.
And Rogue opened her eyes, but she didn't step away.

She couldn't quite look at him as she did, because she was afraid that if she did, she'd move forward instead of backwards.
no subject
Her looking away made him think that she was upset, or perhaps shamed, and he didn't like either of those thoughts. If she wanted to talk away, so be it, and he would let go. He was playing the long game, after all. But he would like if she went away feeling better rather than worse.
Though perhaps that was a more impossible task.
no subject
Had she done something wrong again? She hadn't wanted to make this something horrible; she knew she should have pulled back straight away. She just wanted... she'd just so badly wanted another moment of contact, for her to have just a little more time.
She was aware of his touch on her waist, and her heart beat quickly, but she didn't shake him off, didn't step away.
no subject
Then a brief flash of a grin. "Though I suppose one of us had better go now, since I really would like to kiss you properly."
no subject
Oh, yes, please.
She was almost selfish enough to lean forward and let him. Chalk it up to the mistletoe and her horrible, no good, really bad day.
"Temptin'," she managed on a laugh, a husky note in her voice. "But all in all, a bad idea."
Smiling lightly, Rogue managed to take another half-step back.
no subject
He gave her a courtly bow, keeping eye contact all the while, and thinking quite fiercely what he'd like to do if he hadn't drawn such sharp lines for himself. Then he turned to go.
