Miracle on Luceti Street.

Who: Everybody! (Mostly.)
What: IT'S CHRISTMAS OR SOMETHING.
When: The 19th through the 25th. Feel free to backdate and forwarddate and everydate as you please.
Where: All over the village!
Summary: It's a wintertime jamboree. Go ice skating. Hand out gifts to those you love. (Or want to prank, as the case may be.) Deal with meddling, creepy elves. Kiss a lot of people. It'll be good. Except for the parts where it'll be awkward. But that's what we're here for, isn't it?
Rating: Anywhere from PG to R, I imagine. If you need to play out sexytimes, please either fade to black and take it elsewhere or CLEARLY mark the thread in the subject line. (The former is preferable, but not strictly necessary.)

It never happened back home. Sometimes you'd get people puttin' 'em up in their houses, but not all over the place like here.

Why? What's the point of hanging them up?

[If it's just to kiss people that seems like a waste since friends do that all the time anyway...]

Well...

[And here Firo looks away; kissing in general is a topic he can hardly handle when he's with his friends, much less a kid he's still getting to know.]

It's, um... like a Christmas tradition.

[...What are you looking away for, is there something embarrassing about it?]

Why is it a "Christmas tradition" to hang weird plants around the place?

B-because... The tradition is that if you and somebody else wind up under one together, you have to, uh...

[Think, Firo, think! He can't bring himself to give the real tradition, but it's hard to think of something less offensive when he's already so flustered.]

...You have to shake hands. Like a greeting.

...Really? But that sounds so boring, though...

[FYI he may or may not be messing with you and already have some idea of what the tradition actually is, but it's funny to watch you getting flustered about it.]

Y-yeah! It's really boring, so you shouldn't do it.

[Firo doesn't even know that the Luceti mistletoe trap pairs of people; the idea of even coming close to such an experience terrifies him anyway.]

"Shouldn't do it", huh... [Firo you do realize by now that telling him he shouldn't do something makes him want to do it even more, right...]

...Heh, if you say so... [wait what that was rather easy--] I mean, there's probably way better things to be doing than something boring like that, right?

[You know like hanging out on roofs or bothering wolf gods I mean uh--]

[Unfortunately, Firo's so eager to get off the topic that he doesn't even think telling Crow not to do something will encourage him. He nods quickly.]

Yeah, there's lots of more fun things you could be doin' instead. Like the Battledome or somethin' like that.

[Something nice and safe.]

[He nods along in agreement--although it is true, the Battledome is supposedly very fun.]

Yeah, yeah...but... [A slight pause as if considering something, glancing upwards for a split-second above Firo before looking around.] Seto might be disappointed if we weren't keeping to these "Christmas traditions", even if some of them might be dull...

Seto?

[Oh, heck no. Without even thinking about it, his hand rises to where he keeps his knife in his jacket. Now that Crow's brought it up, he worries about what Seto might be doing right now, and why he isn't there looking out for him.]

If anybody touches him, I'll gut 'em like a god damn fish.

[...Wow Firo that's a little extreme. If Crow was anyone else, he probably would have asked what the hell is wrong with you or leaned away, but as it is, he just stares as if raising an eyebrow. Besides, he does sort of know the actual reasoning behind Firo's outburst--he'd be tempted to punch someone in the face if they kissed Seto too. ~~We're the only one who kisses him as he's our best friend I mean uh~~ But he keeps up the illusion of acting like he doesn't know about the kissing tradition.]

...Just for shaking hands with him? [folds his arms, giving Firo a look--despite his light tone, he's not really joking with what he says next] Maybe I should be concerned about my best friend being around a guy who stabs people over something like that...

[In his anger, Firo'd forgotten his lie. Now that Crow points it out, he realizes that his reaction seems over the top for something as normal as a "hand shake". A bit. He drops his hand and looks away.]

W-well...

[He can't rationalize it without telling Crow the truth (he doesn't realize that the kid already knows), so he doesn't try to explain. His indignation at the implication that his violent behavior could be detrimental to Seto distracts him, too.]

There's no reason to be concerned for that, I'm doin' it to protect him. You don't want him to be safe?

Well yeah, but Seto wouldn't appreciate you hurting people for dumb reasons like that...

[Also we might be a little glad now that we're not human and can't die from potential stab ones...]

[Firo has to keep his mouth shut for a moment, because he knows Crow's completely right.]

It's... It's not a dumb reason. And maybe he'd appreciate it someday.

[That's a huge maybe.]

[~~...wow I meant stab wounds, not ones ffffff~~]

Right... [He still sounds a little skeptical, as he's seen how Seto reacts when someone gets hurt, even people that were bullying him...]

[~~...I totally missed that, sorry!~~

Considering he tried to use the "don't make Seto sad" route with Crow earlier, he feels more like a hypocrite the more he thinks about what he's saying.]

...Look, it'll be fine. I'll make sure nothin' happens in the first place, so then I won't need to.

...Fine, but I'm just saying, if Seto wants to "shake hands" with someone, that's his choice.

[We may be extremely possessive of our title as "best friend", but we are at least semi-aware that Seto has "other friends" or people he wants to hang out with too, otherwise he wouldn't even be tolerating Firo right now.]

...I know. I just don't want anybody takin' advantage of him. He's too nice.

[...]

Yeah, he is--he's too nice for his own good, sometimes. [...But then he shrugs, looking away. Seto was still nice to us even though we bullied him and stole something he cared about, and even after finding out our secret, he still considered us his friend...] But it's not really a bad thing, I think.

You think so? Why's that?

[He does wonder if Seto would be friends with him if he were less accepting; Firo isn't exactly the most upstanding citizen.]

[As if reading Firo's mind, Crow gestures towards himself.]

If he wasn't as nice as he is, things might've been different back home where we were. We might not have become friends.

[He's semi-aware that he's kind of mean, but he's mostly speaking in terms regarding his secret, something that he thinks people would judge him for because he was different than everyone else, but Seto is accepting enough to still consider him his best friend despite that.]

[Were this a less important issue, Firo'd snark that he can easily imagine why Crow and Seto might not have become friends. Not knowing the secret--even with the hint of Crow being "special"--he thinks that he's in the same boat as Crow with not always being the nicest person.]

...Yeah. I think it might've been the same for him and me here.

[He folds his arms, scuffing at the ground anxiously with the toe of his shoe.]

You... you would take care of him if somethin' happened, right?

[He may not be Crow's biggest fan, but he wonders if what he sees as brattiness could hint at a bite strong enough to keep Seto safe.]

...That's such a dumb question. [But before Firo can snap at him for saying that--] Of course I would--he's my best friend, I'm not gonna just stand by and let something bad happen to him. I'd do whatever I could to help him.

[He does open his mouth to snap at Crow, but the answer shuts him up. After a moment, he nods and smiles.]

I'm just checkin'. That's... That's good to know.

[He realizes what he should say, though getting it out of his mouth takes some effort.]
