It's not all that hard, though I guess at the same time I've learned all the steps you need to take to really get going. Y'know, all the hints and tricks? [Her master taught her very well when he was alive, and left a detailed and informative journal of notes after he sadly passed away. But Norma's thoughts aren't on Sven right now. Norma's interests have been piqued.]

Your language uses symbols and stuff?

In a way, yes. I use runes rather extensively, since they're quite flexible.

[He tilts his head.] Though for the most part, were I to write something for you that did not have a specific arcane use, you'd perceive it as written in your native language. It's a funny little trick.

Whoa, wait--...are you saying that you can magic your language to look like mine? Or, I mean, make so I think you're writing in Relares? [Because that'd be really, really awesome, to try and compare the accuracy of the words with the characters in her language and stuff. Eyes twinkling with admiration, and maybe something more, Norma passes over a sheet of paper and pen.]

Think you could demonstrate?

Hmmm... not quite a magic. A trick of language. And I'm not entirely certain if it will work with yours, as we're not from the same dimension.

[He produces a notebook from the air between his hands, and a pen. Then he writes out a little passage on one of the pages, tears it out, and offers it to her.]

So really, I'm quite curious to see what it might look like to your eyes.

[Well, if the writing isn't magic, then poofing things out of no where sure is, Norma blinks, definitely shocked and awestruck, then leans forward to watch. It's kind of exciting, and this guy's really cute if a bit out of her age range. He's smart, too, even if a bit reserved. Not like she's complaining, the sophisticated, studious types aren't all that bad...

Sadly, Norma was watching a little too closely, and startles when the paper's offered to her. Eheh, whoops! Blushing, she takes it and only gives it a brief glance before shaking her head with a sheepish smile.]

Nope...sorry. Guess my world's not compatible with your, uh...not-magic. But what did you write, anyway? I don't think I've seen this language before.

[He makes a mental note of the blush, and mulls over if he will tease or not. Perhaps a little, but she's quite young.]

Oh, and I don't believe I've introduced myself. Loki of Asgard. And you are Lady...?

Still a neat trick, though! Even if, y'know...it didn't work with me.

[Which is a real shame. Norma was looking forward to seeing something cool this guy could do. Though at the same time, she's just impressed he knows magic. He seemed more the businessy, possibly booky type. A lot like her old master, but not nearly as much of a goofball. Actually, he seemed a lot like Will in personality.]

Loki... [That's going to be hard to think up a nickname for. Urgh, you people and your difficult names.] Uh, I'm Norma. Norma Beatty...of, um, Melfes.

As I said, it's not a trick as such, or a real sort of magic. What magics I do most definitely effect everyone.

Oh, I can understand that...kinda. I mean, my eres--uh, magic, definitely effects those people I want it to effect. Defensive, offensive, healing...all of it's got some kind of thing to do with friends and enemies.

Elemental eres are what I'm the best at! Uh, eres being my world's term for magic. Magic users, like me, are called erens. I can use most of the elements, too - fire, earth, lightning, darkness, and I know a few light based crystal eres, too. And I can heal real good, too.

[Bragging? Showing off? You bet she is. Norma's got to impress the handsome gent here, yupyup.]

My magics are far more flexible. 'Tis more a matter of finding how to effect the change I wish to see and then exercising my will on the matter.
