[ ...yes, he rather supposes (in a twisted kind of way) that it was likely easier for him to make friends in luceti than it was for her. as reticent as he could be, he was accustomed to how fluid social customs sometimes had to be. and he could connect quickly with nearly every other soldier in this place -- and there were a lot of those.

but ah, poor miss faith. a lady of quality in a land that might as well be an revolutionary's ideal france, for all it dripped in fraternity and equality. as such, he found he pitied the young woman. the gutterborn could shine in a place like this, while the gentle stumbled. ]

They take some getting used to. But many are worth it. Though -- there are some I fear I'll never understand.

[It's as close as she'll really come to expressing how lost she feels. Her own understanding of the revolutionary ideal is... far more bloody than the simple three-word phrase so praised. She'd learned a little more since the Peace, being surrounded by the emigres and the Republicans alike, all mixed in with the upper crust of British society.

A few have seemed quite nice, I simply haven't been as dedicated as I ought to have been in regards to society here.
