That definitely sounds about right. While they get little information, Leonhardt always has been one to dig for that tiny little nugget of truth and work from there. He has little objection to doing work for abhorrent people to accomplish that, all that matters is that his own goals are furthered without sacrificing his own ideals.

"I only have it because that information even exists and I'm not one to just believe whatever I am told without question. The rest are all too happy to consider you as one of the group that kidnapped them and think that we are nothing more than dolls to be played with by the Organization and discarded when no longer of use."

He'll pause for a second. Truly, Leonhardt had other reasons to come speak with Bil and wants to try and steer the conversation into a direction where it may be revealed what the Malnosso know about a certain situation. "But enough of that topic. One thing I wish to know is if you know anything about what is being done to win a war against an enemy that does not die or receive any loss when they die like we do?"

"Ah, a good question. You are, of course, familiar with scanners, yes? The problem with the war effort is that it was always about survival. We fought to live another day, naturally, not to win. We would fight just long enough to find a way to escape, then let all the nuts stay behind and fight over a lost planet."

He leaned back in his seat, idly popping a fry into his mouth, giving him time to think as he chewed. "The scanners change that. You see, the problem with killing them is that for many of them, it may take as many as a dozen deaths before they've lost the ability to fight. Some, like the General, don't seem to be slowed down by death at all! But the scanners, we can put them in a cell. It's expensive, yes, but we keep them in there, alive, and unable to do any harm. It's a slow process, but our numbers suggest we're already locking them up faster than they are replenishing their numbers."

"I am familiar with them. They are rather limited, however." For one such as Leonhardt, extremely limited. He can only get one, he has an ability to create duplicates of himself and is a highly effective fighter with his level of skill. At best, he can try to obtain some extras from non-combatants who won't use them.

"How about how they are reacting to this? Have there been any attempted breakouts? Any changes of strategy on their end to avoid capture?"

"They often will kill their own when they see them down. This was not always the case, but they are aware of what we are doing. Fortunately they do not yet know the location of our prisoners."

That makes sense, there definitely is evidence that the cultists know far more about this war than the residents of enclosures do. "For now, at least. No prison is perfectly secure and the cultists appear quite knowledgeable. It is good to hear there are no leaks of information among the Organization that you are aware of."

"There is not a person in the organization who would find any value in dealing with cultists."

Well, either Bil is outright lying, or he has no idea what is going on.

"Not even if it meant their life or that of a loved one? It is amazing how quickly morals can disappear when the situation is dire."

Of course, Bil likely is aware that Leonhardt has been in such situations before and knows firsthand how that can happen and he's used that as a tactic to accomplish his own goals.

"No matter how it happened, the General is far too well-informed, as I am sure you are aware."
biliruben: (Terribly unfortunate)

"I believe the General has learned much from experience. We have rescued many from his clutches, but none have ever been interrogated. We simply do not have any information he would consider valuable. Of course, I've never met the man personally."
