This post covers the first day, before the attack. Remember, characters here are not expecting an attack and are under the impression they will be going to Region 1 to fight. During this day, draftees will be restricted to T6 and T7 and not permitted access to other areas.

[Kurt did manage to notice her absence - and eventually he finds her at the armory. There's a bit of an anxiousness in his movements, but a light smile at seeing Rogue.]

Hey - there you are.

[touchofrogue]

[Rogue glances over her shoulder at him, before getting back to looking down the barrel of the gun she's holding.]

Hey, yourself. Gettin' used to the air up here?

Yeah... just been a bit of an adjustment. [Just without the whole shift affliction part. He's been able to focus more on the freedom of his teleporting being uninhibited. Of course, the joy that came with that was stifled by the occasional reminders of why they were here - small, simple things like his sister looking down a gun.]

How about you?

[touchofrogue]

I feel a bit light-headed, on an' off. [The gun felt heavy. While that wasn't a problem in the range, she didn't want to be carrying around something that would be more of a hazard than a help. She set it back down and went to look at a different model.]

Can't say I'm not glad they didn't give us an extra day ta get used to this.

[He gave a quiet nod and took just a second to follow the stream of negatives.]

Yeah... is it always this much of a rush?

[touchofrogue]

Nah. [She gave him a smile over her shoulder.] Sometimes it's worse.

[But Rogue didn't let that linger. In fact, she put the gun down to address Kurt.] Are you gonna pick up anythin' from the armory?

[He returns a slight smile, but it's one that's quickly disarmed by her question. And he looks around at the array of weapons, many looking like stuff he'd only see in fantasy and scifi. X-Men training was mostly about how to use your powers the best you could, not using stuff like weapons. All he had was some fencing lessons.]

I'm... I don't know. I don't know if I could even use any of these right...

[touchofrogue]

[She sighed quietly.]

Look, Kurt - when we get out there, there are two choices you can make. I'm not sayin' one's right and one's wrong, but you can do your best ta just disarm or disable... or [the euphemism 'take them out' never wanted to make its way past her lips so badly, but this was Kurt and if anyone deserved the bald truth, he did] you can kill them. The most important thing is ta not be killed, you got me? We'll have your back, you're not in this alone.

[The bald truth would actually be more appropriate for a young monk; but it's lucky for Kurt that her truth is also bold in nature.]

Thanks, Rogue. I appreciate that. I'll do what I can to hold up my share of the back-watching, and I know the rest of you will do yours. I'm just not sure how helpful I can be with just my abilities.

[Unfortunately, the metaphor for the fuzzy truth was out to lunch at the time.]

Just remember your training. [She shook her head.] Kurt, you can get close an' get far as fast as a blink. It's not gonna be pleasant, but I think you'll be surprised at what you can do.

Yeah... I guess you're right. I guess we'll find out for sure when we get out there, eh? [He still feels at a bit of a disadvantage without much in the way of weapons to help him - something he's noting to improve for the future - but he remembers the tricks Logan taught him. He hopes he can still keep himself from letting them down. And he offers he a soft smile.] I'll be doing my best with what I can.

[touchofrogue]

We'll hook you up with a scanner before you go. Then... in here... [she glanced around] I reckon we could see if there's a taser or somethin' here.

[wildbluevagner]

[He nods along. The scanner definitely sounds like a help. But he lights up a little at the mention of a taser.]

Oh man, a taser? I didn't think of that... Now that'd be really fly!

[touchofrogue]

...yeah. It'd be fly.

[She shook her head and turned around.]

Let's see if we can find one.

[wildbluevagner]

There's gotta be one somewhere around here. [He says as he sorts through some similar-looking items.] Maybe one that used to belong to a mall cop of some great ancient society.

[touchofrogue]

Ancient mall cops? An' here I thought you were the one in charge of group morale.

[Because that is just a depressing thought.]

What, it's not like it's such a bad thing. I've got a really good feeling that's how Coulson got his start, after all.

As a mall cop?

Maybe! I mean he had to start somewhere.
