"It's not nonsense if it's saving someones life. I'll save yours if it's the last thing I do up here!" Elie was really, REALLY hoping it wouldn't come down to that, but if it helped someone else, Haru and Shuda would understand. The last thing she wanted to see happen was someone else die, so hopefully both her and Jade would come out of this unscathed.

Within moments of speaking out, Elie's hands whipped both of her tonfa out from the holders on her belt, leveling them at the other people in the room.

"Guess I'll be doing this myself."

Jade sprung to his feet. "What do you think you're doing?" he said sharply. "I won't let you hurt anyone in this room."

"Don't humor her, Jade," Gelda instructed. "She can't hurt any of us."

And Jade glanced back at Gelda thoughtfully before approaching to Elie. "It sounds like you're experiencing some kind of delusional episode. Lower your weapons, now."

This was getting more and more irritating by the minute. Hearing one person constantly speaking up, the other one she was trying to help telling her she was crazy... not only was it irritating, it was also pretty insulting!

After a few moments of thinking about it, glancing back between Jade, then to the others... it was completely obvious and she should have known the answer from the beginning.

"Sorry, but you're wrong."

And with that, it was open fire on those in the room in front of her. This was likely the only way out of this.

Jade grit his teeth and lunged forward as Elie opened fire, ready to tear her apart in any number of ways. But he stopped and glanced around him first. Gelda, Peony, Nephry... They were all unharmed. Everything around him was still perfect.

But that doesn't make sense.

Gelda was now on her feet, approaching Jade. "We're lucky that I left a protective art in place. But Jade, you have to get her out of her, now."

Jade glanced silently towards Gelda as she spoke, taking in her words and trying to process them logically. Something just seemed very... off about it. Her explanation seemed to make sense to him - except when he thought on it further, he had trouble finding logical support. It was as if the entire reasoning of her answer was just because she had said so.

He turns to face Elie and stares her down with an intense look on his face that was very rarely seen. And he practically growled, "Explain yourself. Give me a reason I shouldn't kill you where you stand."

What... just happened? Or rather, what didn't happen? Elie stared in disbelief, angry that didn't workbut also a little more anxious about this situation. She had gotten herself in deeper than she had imagined, hadn't she?

When Jade spoke to her, it took her a moment to even process the question. Why shouldn't he kill her now?

Finally, she turned to face him, fully serious, and unwavering in her voice.

"Because you're in danger and aren't realizing it. I'm trying to help you, trying to save your life! There's been enough casualties in this week long battle, I don't want to see another one! Please, you have to believe me!"
yourfononsarewhack: (okay i'm pretty damn suspicious)

"How can I be in danger? I'm a highly skilled fonist surrounded by people whom I've know my entire life. What is wrong with this equation?" Jade's red eyes glared from behind his glasses. Whether or not she was a savior, he'd treat her like any other enemy until he received answers that made sense to him. She definitely didn't belong here. But there was something else he felt, a slight nagging sensation about everything around him, that just didn't belong. But Jade wasn't one to follow such vague gut feelings. He needed cold, hard facts.

"Jade, leave her be," said Gelda in concern, as she started to hover over Jade's shoulder. "I have to teach you more about the Seventh Fonon." Jade only glanced towards her sharply. All of this confusion was making him all the more sharply aware of everything suspicious around him.

"Because from the outside, you were being approached by one of the guys we're fighting, not the people that are here. Do I really have to start shooting again to get you to realize that nothing in here is right?"

Elie was readying her tonfa again as she spoke, not really wanting to hit Jade, so much as going to attempt to get everyone else. This situation wasn't right, the way things were going weren't right, and Jade not listening wasn't right.

"Would these people actually want to trap you? Would they want to kill you? Because that's what's going to happen if you stay here and don't escape!"
yourfononsarewhack: (super frown)

"As I've seen it, you're the only one who's trying to kill." He said as he turned back to look at Elie. "These people I've known for nearly the entirety of my life. I trust them. And we've been leaving in peace. Why would any of them be trapping me when our lives together have been so..." The word stayed on the tip of his tongue for a moment, as if some faint realization was coming to him. It wasn't until now, when he was about to say this last word aloud, that he felt that feeling of how wrong everything was and why it was so. It all came back to that one word, which should be synonymous with 'impossible'.

"...ideal."

Gelda was trying to tug at his shoulder. "You know we'd never harm you, Jade. We care for you - we put up with you, unlike everyone else. And we're proud of you, Jade. Of the man you've become. No one can replicate that."

And Jade's eyes widened, his posture stiffening. Replicate. It was all coming back to him.

Everything about this was impossible. A shallow replica of an ideal fantasy. And he said, sharply and quietly. "I must leave."
