Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[Last time he was possessed by a spirit years ago, Kain had the chance to bond with Kipinn. He's the spirit that he's been the closest to all along, after all. The affinity between them is so well-developed that at first, Kipinn is the one who's drawn to him. Unfortunately... a much stronger spirit moves in and wins out instead.]

[Recent events have made him even more bitter toward this place than ever before, so Twila has an easy target in him. Kain's inner darkness is coaxed to the surface and his wings darken and gradually grow as he gives in to the spirit's influence. There's no use fighting it. Right now, he welcomes this darkness wholeheartedly.]

[Kain will be especially going after anyone possessed by Hyt... and he's looking to pick fights with anyone's path he crosses. He obviously is taking advantage of the flight power to get around, so a sudden attacking dragoon from above is likely.]

Beginning, I guess?

[Karla goes out for another of her usual wandering exercises, but being rather new here and not knowing many people, the large wings don't seem all that strange to her. So she thinks nothing of it as she heads out into the forest. But where would she go? She rests her hand on her sword hilt, feeling an urge to draw her sword and train, but at the same time, she doesn't want to. She can't explain her mood, other than the consistent longing for her brother.]

[Kain is flying around and keeping an eye out for potential targets. Fighting and proving himself stronger are all he cares about right now, all the purpose he has left. It really is a lot easier now that he's stopped fighting his true self...]

[He smirks a little when he notices someone coming along... armed, too, from the look of it. She'd likely be worth antagonizing.]

[So down he goes, descending swiftly toward her with his spear aiming at her.]

[She's almost oblivious to her environment, until she hears the sudden rustling around her. She glances up just in time to spot the dark-armored figure diving at her. She quickly sidesteps the attack and moves several feet away before facing him. She gives him a surprised look, but doesn't draw her sword quite yet, waiting to analyze the situation and this person's motives first.]

[Quick reflexes... that's good, he wouldn't have wanted to choose someone who wouldn't be some sort of challenge for him. Kain steps into an attacking stance, making his intentions clear... At least he gives her a short time to prepare- before he's suddenly charging at her again.]

[He hasn't even said anything, and he's already charging at her again? Well, his intentions are clear enough. Karla sidesteps him again and pauses briefly.]

...You don't waste words, do you?

[So neither will she. She'll draw her sword and move forward now, aiming a swift, diagonal stroke towards him.]

[By now, Kain normally would be at the very least holding up one of his messages to inform her of the non-talking thing. But... well... he has no time or patience, today. All he cares about is the battle ahead.]

[He raises his spear to block the incoming strike, and there's a loud metal clash of weapons. He immediately goes for a counter, with a swift swipe of the spear toward her.]
