Starting at midnight on the 26th, Luceti and its inhabitants will find itself the focus of the Filial spirits, usually quiet and reclusive, now stepping out to deal with one of their own.

As promised, here is some additional information to help figure out how to play around with the spirits and interacting with similarly possessed people.

First off, each spirit has a certain time or place when they are at their most powerful. Consequently, characters possessed by them will enjoy these boosts and this in itself can be a deciding factor in what would otherwise be a stalemate. Here’s a quick run down:

Sona - She’s most powerful around lakes, rivers, and the ocean. Mostly this is concentrated at the southern lake.

Kipinn - He’s most powerful in high places, like mountain tops and the roofs of community buildings.

Faeren - She’s most powerful in the farmlands alongside things that grow.

Tsinku - He’s most powerful in the village itself, where technology thrives.

Eferin - He’s most powerful in the center of the forest where his heat may cause trees to burn. In fact, the upcoming forest fire may cause some trouble if his followers get too rowdy.

Hyt - It’s most powerful during the daytime under a bright sky.

Twila - It’s most powerful during the night time.

Nala- She has no domain and is generally welcome wherever she goes.

How possessed characters will deal with other possessed characters will depend on the interactions of the spirits themselves. A useful spreadsheet sums up these relationships. Those that have a friendly attitude to one another will generally allow ‘trespassers’ into their domain, but those they are not so friendly with may cause conflict.

Finally, to elaborate on Twila-possessed characters. Those with a natural affinity for darkness are likely to be possessed first. Once they have, they can try to recruit others less-compatible candidates to ‘join the cause’. Their goal is numbers. The more who are working with Twila, the better. Once they do, they’ll be inclined to act in their own self interest and if necessary, deal with others who try to get in their way. In the long term, the spirit Twila wants to stay this way, bonded to the Lucetians as hybrids, that way it cannot be imprisoned again. Think of it as pure survival instinct of an animal that’s spent way too long in a cage.

All isn’t lost. The other spirits may not be able to cage it again, but they won’t accept Twila reacting in this manner. Though it’s hard to tell what their beef with Twila is, they have an instinctive familiarity with the dark spirit and seem to act as its jail keepers.

They have the power to free people from Twila, but given their poor communication skills, figuring that out might just be a challenge. After all, the spirits can only communicate in shades of feeling and intentions, but not actually verbalize directions or marching orders. However, there will be a Malnosso post mid-event that will give everyone, possessed or otherwise, the info they need to turn things around.

[Hyt makes its influence over Makie known by a sudden, blinding light from her room early on the first morning. It's purely an accident-- a triggered panic from the feeling of something other mingling into her senses, and those wings-- bright and iridescent and beautiful, but they shouldn't be attached to her--

Makie isn't even aware that the light is her doing to begin with. She sits on the bed, staring down at her hands in her lap, barely aware of the room as the light slowly fades back to normal.

By the time she eventually leaves the house, she's completely calm, even if her departure is driven more by avoiding a fight if she can. Always accompanied by her shamisen, she wanders the village like so many others and just...

...watches. Everyone. Go about their business.

She's not sure why. She's not sure why some people make her feel so... uncomfortable.

Early in the week, Makie resists the urge to confront some of those with dark wings she sees, not willing to hurt anyone who isn't an obvious threat to her. That's not who she is. In fact, at the end of the first day, she decides it might be best if she just withdraws from the village completely. But Hyt's influence combined with her own withdrawn personality makes her coldly analytical when left too long to her own devices, and the more time that goes past, the more she finds herself in accord with what the spirit wants.

On the first day, she'll be in town, watching her fellow Lucetians.

On the second and third, she'll be out at the farmlands and trying to avoid people...

...and she returns to the village on the fourth day, now watching people from a plaza rooftop like a total creeper.]

((ooc: to make it clear, Makie has no idea she's possessed, but she knows weird shit is going on. The first day she'll be more herself with anyone she talks to, and with the fourth day she'll be far more quiet and prone to just staring at you creepily unless you engage her on a level she understands. Which. Yeah.))

Since Law's heavily under the influence, he's not... the chattiest. Not unfriendly, though to fellow Hyt possessed. Just a small smile, a wave, and a:]

[popcorn and beer you say Makie's gaze shifts away from the street briefly to side-eye Law as he lands. It's only a moment's caution, before the connection she feels tells her he's not a man she needs to be wary of.

She smiles in return, though it's an expression even emptier than usual. Despite that, Law is more than welcome to be here.]

I see the rooftops are popular today.

Makie Otono-Tachibana. [Swordswoman of the Itto-ryu. She nearly adds it automatically, only stopping herself at the last moment. Her features take on a perplexed look for a moment, then smooth out into blankness again as she nods at the plaza below.]

There are a few of us watching this place. [There's the white-haired boy she had a staring match with not too long ago on the opposite side.] I would hope the message is received.

He stares at her a few moments longer after her greeting, and then he tilts his head.]

[And thus decades later Well actually, moments after that headtilt, Makie blinks at him curiously and makes a small gesture at the roof space beside her. Not that his long staring is a bit disconcerting or anything.]

Fresh from her meeting with Knives in the forest, he's likely to notice her first, as the flickering light...strings?... she's playing with in the palms of her hands vanish as she crosses the fields.

[Normally, nothing. The people in the village outside of his close friends have largely annoyed him, but for his nature to complain about troublesome things, he also knows how to ignore them.

In this instance, however, he's compulsed by the sudden feeling that he should be standing his ground. It's not enough to leave things be, he has to do more. As he's pondering over how weird that is, he realizes he recognizes this person too.]

Huh. Well if it isn't the elevator girl.

[Makie's steps slow at the sound of his voice, and the words are enough that she knows who it is straight away. But it's not until she glances up to meet his gaze that her obligatorily polite smile smooths into utter blankness as she catches sight of those wings.

And all at once, the casual greeting seems cast into a more threatening light. It's a suspicion she can't quite shake. Even so, she nods her head in greeting.]

Shikamaru. What brings you here?

I was hungry. [Slowly, he holds up a potato in his hand, the skin of it a healthy, golden yellow. His fingertips are dirty, like he just dug it from the ground.] Did you know you could harvest potatoes as early as May?

...well, that's harmless-sounding enough. She even smiles a little.] I didn't. I'm not very familiar with potatoes at all, I'm afraid.

[He smiles back and take a bite out of his potato. It'd probably taste better cooked. Maybe he should find a few more.]

[To her knowledge, the food here is free for anyone, though Makie glances at the potato and also wonders. Hmm.]

At home we have sweet potato. It tastes delicious when it's roasted. I...assume the two are related.
